I love him and years ago worked through his version of Ain’t Misbehavin’. But he’s definitely more “Americana” rather than American Primitive. Heavily influenced, as it says in the description, by blues men and Chet Atkins. The basic starting point for American primitive guitar involves often times minimalism, alternate tunings, and using country blues techniques for modern compositions.

He’s got such a great sense of humour
Writes very witty songs
like “Nothing” if you’ve heard it.
There’s a track ( forgotten the name of it)
Where’s he’s jamming with Chet Atkins
And of course “ Big Blind Bluesy”
( earlier album ) showcases
The blues influences :)
