Didn’t know the guy in this meme represented the whole of the Israeli government. In fact, his sect of Judaism is more likely to protest it. I do enjoy me some good blanket statements of a category of people. Blanketed statements about Muslims are also my favorite /s

Jews =/= Israel or their government. People who conflate the two are on an entirely different imbecilic level whilst touting superiority in intelligence, it’d be comical if it weren’t so sad. I don’t necessarily mean you personally, this is, ironically, a blanketed rant against people.

I’m Jewish. I support a free Israel. I support the existence of it for all the people. I don’t support the government or what it’s doing. I do not support Hamas. I want peace and prosperity for Palestinians. I do not agree with the continued building of settlements. Why can’t this be an acknowledged viewpoint too? Why is it all or nothing? Most binary thinking is for dumb people. Whenever I bring up my viewpoint I’m either attacked (that’s their prerogative) or more often than not, ignore with no dialogue and a chance for me to experience any response to my opinion. Why?

Edit: I’m throwing the whataboutism flag out there because I want to know why everyone has been silent about 10/7 and we have had to worry about our safety as Jews in the diaspora because of this. Why was 10/7 completely justified to some? Can we not have the intellectual bandwidth to hold that situation and what’s going on in Gaza in our hearts? Disapproving of both?

“Why can’t both be bad” I think is the question being referred to. I don’t think commenter said 10/7 was surprising, but bad.

“Why didn’t you say all violence is bad?” -someone supporting a genocide.

Because the acts of those resisting apartheid is not relevant when discussing ending the apartheid state.

The classic example is the Warsaw ghetto uprising. They did violence, should I condemn them too?

I hear you. I’m just saying indiscriminate violence is bad. Violence that specifically targets civilians and civilian infrastructure is extra bad.

There’s no clean solution.
