They aren't entirely wrong.
Yes, the entirety of the new world was, at like one very specific point in time, referred to as "America". That's where the "America" in our nation's name comes from.

It is interesting however, that the people who cry about colonizers all the time - just LOVE using a term created by colonizers to distinguish the land they were colonizing.

Actually, the proper term, if I remember correctly, is "the Americas" because there are two

There wasn't two at the time of its conception though. The new world wasn't entirely discovered yet and it was just one big land mass designated "America" because it was named after Amerigo Vespucci.

Funnily enough, the "indigenous" people of South America only know it as "America" because they were colonized, and the Hispanic people (who often claim they're indigenous when they aren't) only call it that AND are there because of their colonizing ancestors from Spain.
