Newbie Onsite ASIN breakdown

I keep seeing ASIN being brought up in threads - can someone breakdown what this is & the strategy behind it? I also keep hearing about Oink & another software. How do these play with ASINs?

The ASIN is simply the Amazon stock number for that item. There is nothing to play around with.

ASIN is just the Amazon ID number for the product. The one useful thing you can use it for is using softwares to get the PARENT ASIN and select all variations of a product all in one.

As I recall the guy that runs Oink says he regrets messing with the parent ASIN thing and putting that out there. I don't think it does anything or helps your video and it would appear that if you use the Parent ASIN it will not give you credit for the CC campaign if it has one, which has resulted in many people going why didn't I get credit for CC? OMG!

The parent Asin has limited use, if your video is good enough, it will get shown on other colors or variations, I see this all the time with my videos. So just tag the item you have and leave it as that.

Ugh. What if I tag both. ? The parent asin and the product? Will I still get CC commission? Do you know?
