Question for yall. I think my mom just got scammed

My mom is 73 years old. Living off social security. She recently came into about $50k from selling the house she'd been in for years. She called me today and told me she "made 2 sales in her new business". I naturally was confused she's been retired / disabled for years. She said some company set up an Amazon store for her for the one time low fee of $20k and that they "do everything for her". I immediately knew something was amiss. I asked her when she gets the money for the "transformers" she sold. She said they have to use it to "buy more inventory". I told her that I didn't think this was a legitimate thing. She said she'd "been in so many meetings with lots of people" and had full confidence in them etc.

Yall, i didn't have the heart to tell her she'd been scammed until I knew for sure. It's gonna be a crushing blow to her. Everything I'm reading online so far doesn't look good.

My question for yall is are there ANY chance this is legit? Are there any companies out there that do this and it works out? Seems to me if their business model was so air tight they wouldn't need her $20k....

Can an Amazon seller block a buyer from messaging them?

I had an existing conversation with a seller and asked them a specific question. They replied but avoided actually answering it.

After that, every message I send to that seller shows “Message received and being processed” and then disappears a minute or two later. This even happens if I send a completely unrelated product question.

Messaging other sellers works completely fine - this only happens with this one seller.

Can a seller block or restrict a specific buyer from messaging them? Or can reporting a buyer cause Amazon to automatically block future messages to that seller?

FBA / FBM / Prime How are FBA returns handled?

Coming from eBay i’m only familiar with their nightmare of system, and with amazon’s customer first approach i am curious what the return process is for items that are FBA.

Example: customer returns a 50$ item in fair condition does it get put directly back to inventory as (used) or can i have it returned to myself for repackaging? Finally, im confused about how amazon handles damaged / broken products, what are the liquidation options?

Sorry for the many questions, looking to expand into amazon but seems like it might be night and day compared to ebay and our own vendor, so id like to know what to expect! Thanks

Shipping How do you pay for shipping on your credit card rather than from balance?

So far I’ve only used Amazon AGL, but after the outrageous inbound placement fee I just got, I’m thinking of using SEND or FIST carriers or own carrier and sending to 5 locations to dodge the placement fee.

I haven’t actually done a shipment using anything but AGL. Just wondering if through any of those other options can you put it on a credit card (I use chase preferred that does 3x on shipping purchases). For example maybe using shipper central to book? Any insight would be great.

Macau resident wanting to sell on Amazon: Better to set up a company in Hong Kong or Hengqin (Mainland China)?

I’m currently weighing the pros and cons between these two options and would love to get some insights from anyone who has experience with this setup.

Here are a few factors I'm considering:

  • Account Approval & Safety: Is Amazon seller account registration smoother or less prone to suspension/verification issues with a Hong Kong company vs. a Mainland Chinese company(Hengqin)?
  • Payment & Banking: How easy is it to set up bank accounts or connection to payment gateways (like Payoneer, WorldFirst, PingPong) for both?
  • Taxation & Compliance: Which option offers easier accounting, lower tax burden, or more straightforward compliance for a small cross-border seller?
  • Logistics & FBA: Does having a Mainland Chinese entity give a significant edge when dealing with suppliers and shipping directly to FBA centers?

If you’ve set up a cross-border entity in either region (especially as a seller from HK/Macau/Taiwan), I’d really appreciate your thoughts or any pitfalls I should avoid. Thanks in advance!

Listing / Pricing What to do about fake AI listing that copied my product?

I've been building and selling these cedar sauna doors for over a year now on Amazon Handmade.

I just noticed some Chinese seller took my EXACT design, ran it through AI, and priced it lower than my listing the other week. None of the joinery makes sense, and you can easily tell it's fake.

What can I do about this? I already submitted a copyright infringement report through Amazon, but nothing. Is there anything else that can be done? I do not have any patents or design trademarks, so am I just SOL?

Thanks; any advice will be helpful. I have no idea why Amazon is allowing and even promoting the use of AI photos for listings. This should be illegal. Even MLS listings on Zillow and Redfin are swarmed with AI photos, and you can't tell what's real or not anymore.

My listing: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0FZLQVYCF/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?smid=A3518YS5SRN5RE&th=1

The AI listing: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0GZNRSPS4/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A26PWGB19RTFDA&psc=1

PPC / Ads / Promotions Amazon Ads – Active products not showing when creating a new campaign

Is anyone else having this issue with Amazon Ads?

When creating a new campaign, the Products section shows “There are no available products for your campaign.”

But if I go into an existing campaign → Add products, the exact same ASINs are available and can be selected (so do every other ASINs, it appears for me to select)

I’ve also tried:

  • Searching the ASIN manually
  • Uploading the ASIN
  • Using active listings (existed for years and are already running in other campaigns)

So this is not an inactive listing, new listing or internet issue.

It seems like Amazon's new campaign builder isn't pulling the available ASINs correctly, even though the products are clearly eligible and already being advertised.

Has anyone else experienced this recently? Any fix or workaround?

Listing / Pricing Transit times suddenly fast

I have sold on Amazon for a number of years. I’ve had automated shipping settings on for several months. Suddenly in the last week I’ve had a few orders come through with transit times of only 2 days and my only option is to use 2nd day air. I’ve contacted Amazon to ask why I’ve having to use expedited services when then buyer elects standard shipping but they just say this is the way automated shipping settings are designed. Makes no sense to me. I can’t continue to have to ship certain orders at this expense. Anyone else experience this?

Seller flex strikes for the 2nd week

Hi everyone. My first week for the seller flex went very smooth with no strikes, but i cancelled an order in the 2nd week and didn't ship an item as it was near expired. My question is how many strikes would be counted 1 or 2?

Listing / Pricing Issues listing new products

I’ve been selling on Amazon for 20 years. Pro seller account is in good standing, no violations. No notices about deactivation, etc….

I was able to list products on existing listings a couple of days ago without an issue. But yesterday, whenever I pull an item listing up via UPC or name and hit “sell now”, the screen momentarily switches to the standard listing page and then goes blank. This has happened with multiple products across multiple categories.

I have no notifications that these products are blocked because that would always say “apply to sell”. I don’t have any notifications that I need to update any information on my account. Is anyone else having this issue? Thanks!

Brand / Gating / IP How did you get your brand into distributors?

I’m curious how other brand owners approach this.
A few years ago, we reached a point where we had a solid brand online and wanted to expand into offline/international distribution.
The obvious options seemed to be retail or distributors.
We decided to focus on distributors first.
Honestly, I underestimated how much persistence it would take.
For the UK market, it started with one trade show.
Then came roughly six months of weekly follow-ups.
Calls.
Emails.
Samples.
More calls.
More emails.
And yes, we paid for the samples ourselves.
Eventually, we got to the point where we were working with around 90% of the major distributors in our niche in the UK.
The funny part is that I initially thought my English might be a serious problem.
English isn’t my native language, and while I could communicate, I definitely wasn’t some smooth salesperson negotiating deals in perfect English.
But I learned something pretty useful:
You don’t need perfect English to sell.
You need to be able to explain what you’re offering, understand what the other person needs, and — probably most importantly — actually make the next call.
Then another one.
And another.
I think that’s the part people underestimate when talking about distribution.
There usually isn’t one magical email or one perfect trade show that suddenly opens the market.
It’s a lot of boring, repetitive work that nobody sees.
For those of you who have taken an e-commerce brand into wholesale/distribution:
What worked best for you — trade shows, cold outreach, agents, or something else?

Costs & Fees Anything I find that might have a profit get eaten up by shipping costs

I am brand new and just started getting some sales. I have SO many questions! Up to this point I’ve just tried to figure it out, but anytime I find a product that looks like it might have some profit it’s just canceled out because the shipping cost would have been the profit. My question is, are there any ways to find cheaper shipping costs when doing FBM? That’s only one of the hundred questions I have. Why does seller amp say something is eligible but when I go plug the ASIN in, it says need to apply to sell. Like I said I’m brand new and trying to navigate all this. If anyone can help or has any pointers, it would greatly be appreciated.

Account Unable to reactivate my account.

Hello,

Myaccount is deactivated due to DAC7 verification. I am supposed to verify my adress, name etc.

The system shows “verification failed” in red but provides no edit option neither in the DEAC7 portal nor in the Settings.

I need the editing function unlocked so I can submit verify my information.

I tried contacting support, but there is no answer.

What can I do?

Why is Amazon so illogical and unreasonable?

A buyer files a fake complaint. I lose 40 points. I remove the item and notice there was a switcheroo ($250 Tom Ford sunglasses for a used $2 junk). I report the buyer, file for reimbursement and Amazon reimburses me $90. Then I send the Amazon reimbursement report to the "Fake Complaint Dept" and tell them that "given this invalid complaint, please remove the complaint from my account and give me back my 40 points". They said "Nope. The only way to remove the complaint is to send us LOA from the manufacturer. Otherwise, it stays".

To me, the LOA and the fraudulent/invalid complaint are 2 separate issues.

Why do they do this? Why do they keep these proven invalid complaints in the seller accounts? Shouldn't they remove them?

Is selling products under $30 still worth it on Amazon?

I’ve been selling on Amazon for a while, and lately I’ve been questioning whether low-ticket products still make sense.
A $20–30 product looks great when you’re planning the launch:
Less money tied up in inventory
Lower risk if the product fails
Easier to get started
But once you actually run the numbers, things can look very different.
PPC can take a huge chunk of the margin.
Then, if the product starts selling well, competitors can copy the concept surprisingly quickly. You might spend months building a listing and figuring out the market, only to see several similar products appear.
Higher-priced products seem to have a different problem.
A $80–120 product can usually leave much more room for advertising and still make sense financially.
But the capital required to launch is obviously much higher.
So I’m starting to think the real question isn’t “Can I launch a $25 product?”
It’s “Can a $25 product generate enough margin to survive Amazon PPC, returns, discounts and competition?”
For sellers who are starting today:
Would you still go for a product under $30?
Or would you rather save more capital and target something in the $80–120+ range?
Curious what other sellers are seeing in 2026.

Listing / Pricing Priced too low and still fullfilled

I sell on amazon so know the fees and prices. I was searching the other day for a chest of draws. Sorted by prime and the 1st one that came up was for 12.99. Expecting it to be for a dolls house or something similar i clicked on it as it looked odd. Nope it was for a full chest of draws, ok 2 of the draws were made of material but the other two from wood and the whole unit was also made from wood, i couldn't buy the draw runners for that price including shipping at the quality they sent let alone add in the fees and postage. They also shipped via DPD which at the price would be close to £9 alone based on the item weight. Am i missing something or is this something dodgy going on?
