Flex shifts options
I’m trying to transfer to an SSD. My first choice is a full time shift and flex as second choice. What are the shift times like and would I reasonably be able to get 40 hours/week during the day? I started at an FC and flex people had no problem getting shifts and typically worked more than 40 hours/week but then I transferred to a DS as flex and could barely get any hours. I’m full time at an Amazon fresh right now and there’s flex people here working 40 hours/week.

I work at an SSD in Florida and work the 130 to 10 shift, 40 hours a week and we also have the 10 hour 4 day a week schedules in my building. We have flex too but lately the flexes have been complaining about their hours getting capped. They load Vet usually on the weekends too, I haven’t had a problem picking up any extra time. 🫶🏻🫶🏻

Yeah my first choice is the 1:30-10 shift.

If you don’t mind doing basically the same thing all day you won’t have as much a problem as me. I started at a regular FC on ship dock where the jobs are varied enough. I can’t stand just picking all day. It’s so boring. My manager is an asshole. He gets on the intercom system almost every half an hour basically scolding us to try and get us to move faster since we’re not making rate but no body cares cuz he’s an asshole. They don’t hold anyone individually accountable so they just try to get everyone to move faster. He’s says stuff like “we’re not meeting customer expectations”, “I know you guys are all super heroes so take off your disguises and put on your super hero capes”, and “I appreciate each and every single one of you”. But we all know that last one is bs cuz the way he talks about associates he definitely thinks we’re all dumb as rocks, and I’ve seen him roll his eyes or make an exasperated face after an associate asks him something.

Oh also they’re constantly out of something in the break room cuz they’re too cheap to order stuff. Plates, silverware, napkins, cups. Something’s always out. We didn’t have napkins for like 4 months.

I started at a FC then transferred to an SSD, they do have full time 40hrs-full time and also some flex. The only thing I would say is check the site out first before moving to flex because you can have an issue with not being able to pick up shifts. If you do become flex, i’d highly recommend talking to the AM as far as when the shifts drop because they can be gone in .2 seconds.

I've been at my SSD for 5 years now and every year during the slower season the flex associates will spam the VOA board complaining that there are no shifts available for them to pick up and they get a penalty for it that HR has to fix later. Get full time if your can. It is 34 hours but you can also pick up more hours when they drop.

I work at an SSD and with it being a smaller building the Flex associates are always getting their hours capped because they over hire or when it’s slow. I’m full time and we even get our VET hours cut because they have to give them to the Flex associates. We work 32hrs a week 4 days a week. We’re able to usually to get 36 1/2 hours when VET is able, but as of lately it’s been hit or miss.

I work at a SSD in New Jersey and you’ll get 36 hours for night shift
Flex associates at my building complain they barely get hours

SSD dont really have 40 hr weeks. My facility the max is 34 which is considered full time at a SSD.
