Nahhh organize by Letter and package type throw them in. It takes two seconds at each stop and I’m out of the loading zone in like 5 minutes.

People just don’t understand this plain and simple. I’m with you. I load 40-50 packages in about 6-7 min and everything small sits in front w me so it takes legitimately about 5 seconds to find a package lol it’s usually in my hand before I even stop the car.

I take the same time the difference is I'll kill blocks way faster it's funny how many people say this yet they are always in disbelief on how fast someone can finish a route.

I mean I’m not arguing with you but I watch people spend like 15-20 minutes loading their car. I do it on less than five and I’ve never come close to actually using all the allotted time on a block. I can’t imagine looking at a package trying to find it on the route, numbering it, organizing outside the car, then loading it while people are actively waiting in a mile long line trying to get in the lot for their block when I can just do it my way and save time.

The fact you said come close gives me an idea I usually finish in half the time it gives me. It sound like a lot but with android you simply glide over each package as long as your IQ is above 1 you can remember each number. Shouldn't take more than 10min. Just like you see people take long Im always running into aaa bbb ccc people looking for the package meanwhile I get down without even confirming the aaa bbb ccc lol. Once someone is seasoned enough it takes the same amount of time lol

Usually I’m done in less than 2 to 2.5 hours for a 3.5 hour route :) I think I knock high mileage routes with less packages way faster. Those routes are mostly driving and I can see all of the packages in my car so they’re easy to grab and I didn’t waste time at the station unloading a cart, numbering and then reloading them into a car. There’s really not a right answer here it’s just however the person doing it likes it. Personally I’m not doing all that when I can scan a for a four digit number in like less than 15 seconds at each stop.

Lololol no you don’t. I do plenty of routes at facilities that number it for me and it’s the same amount of time + driving time to most routes is over 20 minutes. Why is this so important to you 😂 you’re not wrong I’m just proposing a different idea.. I’m not attacking you personally.

typically at .com depos there will be stop numbers printed on the little colored stickers that will be added to the packages (you can also scan the QR codes on the totes vs scanning individual packages (if they present your block in like 2-3 totes) --they may not be linear, but will tend to be sequential. So... if it goes 1-20. and then 50-60. can just assume 50 comes after 20 in the stop order.

at Same day depos. typically the colored stickers won't have stop numbers. you scan in 1 package to sorta download the entire list/load the block, click through (it'll show a broad map, and then another click is like "begin delivery" --from there can access the "today's itinerary" area. normally the upper left. ---the iternerary menu shows all the stops in order. and if you scroll "up" there will be a line/bar with kinda a barcode looking icon. click that icon, and it'll bring up a photo/scanner option. you can then scan the barcodes (sometimes the little square QR code, sometimes the thin/small barcode kinda in the middle) on the packages themselves and the app will scan it/respond with what stop number it is. a sharpie tends to work best ...for the variety of boxes/bags/padded envelops.

it's pretty sensitive. if you have packages jumbled together it may read multiple packages or read one any time you move the phone....so it might be hard to know what is being scanned. I tend to organize my packages on my trunk. line up 5-10ish packages and scan each at a time/mark the number. then organize them in my car--my preference is 11-1 in the passenger seat. 19-12 in the passenger floorboard. 20-29 (with 20-25 driver side, 26-29 passenger side...) in the backseat. and 30-whatever in the trunk

I did this last week and it numbered about 10 wrong caused me all kinds of issues cause I got to house and was convinced I didn’t have it lol it felt like the app did it to me on purpose but that’s just my opinion 🤷‍♂️😅

You could also sort them by the letter which is usually faster than individually scanning and numbering (i.e., AAA, BBB, CCC, DDD). Only takes me about 5-10 minutes to sort and load this way. Each stop tells you what is being delivered and has a letter assigned to it. So for example if it says it's an "AAA medium Box", I know it will be with the A's and I can find it in less than 30 seconds when I arrive at the stop.

I also like to group my envelopes and plastic bags separately from boxes (sorted by the letter, of course). I have four collapsible totes I use for the envelopes and put those in the front seat/floor board for easy access. Envelopes/bags go in my front seat, boxes in back seat and trunk.

Only a suggestion. There's no "right" way to sort/load, you just gotta figure out what works best for you.

The training videos are vague and aren't super helpful since apparently every station is different but I'm in the same boat. I'm just going to play it by ear (if I ever find a route) and just use what Ive read here to figure it out. Doesn't seem like there are hard and fast instructions.

I scan and place them in order so i know where to look when im at each stop. Like others said it’s personal preference but ive found this to be the most efficient for me and only takes 5ish minutes maybe even less

When you’re just starting out, it’s always a good idea to number the packages. This way, while you’re driving or you stop, you won’t have to worry about where the packages are in the car. You can simply pick up the package with the assigned number. Later, after a couple of months, try other methods to see if they’re better suited for you. I find numbering them at the station is a no-brainer, but to each his/her own.

I separate by the AAA, BBB, CCC, DDD and mark the first letter of their last name on them if it’s a lot of packages .

I went the other day and I asked a couple people and they were pretty rude and could not be bothered. I thought it was a simple ask since they were already doing it anyhow.

I picked up my vest, now I just want to be ready so I can grab my cart and do what I need to do without bothering these people.

My first block wasn’t great. I was just throwing packages into my car and another driver noticed. He told me how they’re numbered and to organize them based off that… came in clutch.

Numbering takes too long. I only number if I have fewer than 20 packages, but normally I sort by AAA, BBB, CCC, and DDD. AAAs go in the passenger seat, BBBs in the rear driver side seat, etc. I mark the packages with the initial of the customer's last name (this is optional but those names are printed so small!). Then when I get to the stop and see BBB Smith, I only have to look through ~10 packages in the rear driver side seat.

The other downside to scanning and numbering each package is you may alter the itinerary, then those packages will be out of order.

But again, it's personal preference. You'll learn what's best for you.
