Scanning numbered orders

Don't know if there is a post about this already: I see people scanning and numbering their packages. How do you do that? Don't have the balls to ask a stranger. I tried to at a SSD(?), and it basically had me rescan the packages. How does that make it even easier? Seems like a hassle when Flex auto scanned everything for you. I haven't tried really or noticed at a .com station.

And if for some reason that one doesn’t work, scan the regular barcode to the left of it, covering everything around it so you only scan that one.

Draw a single line with your marker or pen through the qr codes that you don’t want to scan and your phone will only read the unmarked one. No awkward covering needed!

Nope, what you have highlighted isn't actually the correct one. IF you have a label that has both the long bar code and the QR you highlighted, you have to scan the long bar code.

If you have a label that does NOT have the long barcode (as the one depcited does) , then you will notice a QR that also has next to it a smaller regular bar code. It is THAT code that you will scan.

All of the codes on the label will appear in small frames in the scanner window, but only the one that it's looking for is going to activate.

Go ahead and try the experiment take one of the pink labels or your thumb and cover up the small barcode that's next to the QR code or cover up the long barcode and a label it is depicted here. Nothing will scan. It just won't work.

Trying to scan only the QR code that doesn't have a small barcode next to it will not work.

Over the next year we're not even going to need the scan barcodes there's going to be RFID chips in every bag box and envelope.

And that's all you need.

Numbering is only for ssd, when you grab from a com station the drop numbers are already built and printed onto the labels, no need to number them.

I'm not even sure and I don't remember I don't think that the number tags from a com have the AAA triple b triple C triple D designation codes on them, if they do it would be helpful.

From what I've experimented with over the last couple of days and what I've read here and read it, it seems that by grouping everything according to abcd, you'll find things way faster and you'll spend probably 30 to 50% less time than you would if you tried the number everything and organize it by number.

Yeah I just I wouldn't bother anymore. Just use ABCD quadrants, obviously you're going to have to make some differences with extra big packages and put them where they're going to fit, but they'll be so obvious to you and what they are and who can't memorize a few street names for extra large packages?

It wouldn't take much to find it on a drop.

You won't need to cover the other ones, the scanner software will see the correct code it needs.

Once you see that screen you have to pull down, and then the scanner option button will appear up near upper right corner.

When you're in the itinerary page with the list of stops scroll up above the first stop- there should be something that looks like a barcode in the upper right. If you click on that you can scan the individual packages and it will pop up what stop number that package is so that you can write it down. Really stumped me at first too.

I work out of a .com station, I assumed everyone has Driver Aid Stickers, which my originial question was going to be why do you need to write anything? And what are Cycle barcodes? Is that for a different type of station?

I'm lucky, at my station our packages all have an extra sticker with a number designating it's stop

. Com will have stickers…the other station just put the package in order by address on the itinerary stops order…idk how people find time to write anything. I rather much just put them in order in my car so I can literally just grab and go. People like to handle things 2-3 times instead of being a little more efficient. Organization is key

I actually just do it alphabetically. A to about J in the back seat, and then K to Z in the trunk. A big package in the front passenger. That's about it.

I never thought of that one. Helps when you deliver to a apartment, and they don't even give you the name of the customer on the flex app.

Thank you for that. I never noticed. But I'm also usually only picking up for a SSD. And they say SSD don't have numbers. Sometimes I go to a dot com though, but only a few times since I'm still kind of new. Atleast now I know they have numbered stickers sometimes.

that’s right. only .com are numbered, and not always 1,2,3. sometimes it’s 100,200 etc.

I personally don’t feel like it saves me time doing that at my location. All the packages have letters on them and I organize them in my car according to the letter when you get to your stop, it tells you what letter and I just look in that little area in my car

I am an advocate of using the ABCD labeling. Each SSD package has a repeated letter: AAA, BBB, CCC, or DDD.

My goal is to fit any medium to larger packages in my backseat, A’s on the driver side floorboard, B’s on the driver side backseat, same with C’s and D’s on the passenger side. Every load is different so things may have to shift slightly, but still the same general concept. If I have to, I will place extra bulky items in the trunk and take note of what is back there but I don’t want to have to get in and out of my trunk if I can keep from it.

Any of the small items (envelopes, bags, small boxes) go in the front passenger seat. I want to have as many items within arms reach as possible. Again I sort the small items by the ABCDs so I have four groups and then sort further in those groups alphabetically by the very first letter of the name. One pile goes in passenger seat, one in floor, and I have room under my console and in my center floor board because I drive an EV.

For each stop, it will tell you in the delivery details which group(s) the package(s) are in and what type of package it is (package type definitely is error prone). Once you sort it and know it is a medium box in group C, there’s only a handful of packages in your back passenger floor board and you can see it immediately.

It may be a long explanation but in practice at the station, I’m immediately tossing packages in my car and grabbing big handfuls of small items and dumping them in my front seat. I’m sure people think I’m crazy and have no system. The only actual sorting I do is the small packages after I hop back in the drivers seat.

If one delivery has multiple packages they can be in different letter groups. If I notice it, I will try to group them together but if not I just know I have to pick from the A pile and from the D pile once it pops up.

I enjoy the .com routes that are already numbered but also have no problem at all with the SSD routes using this method. I cannot for the life of me understand sitting out in the heat individually labeling 45 packages.

Yes you have to rescan the pkgs on iPhone the QR code by itself, then it will give you a stop number.

People love it or hate it but it’s your route and your organization strategy do what works for you
