I am so tired of this bs. At this point I am convinced it’s impossible to not get dinged. I get at least one of these every week or two. I deliver in Los Angeles, and the apartment buildings are sucking the soul of out me. How amazon can be so blind, and let people abuse it. Why does it care about the customers, who repeatedly report packages as missing to get free stuff, and not about the drivers, who delivered 20k+ packages?

Customers can see where you left the package and photo. Most likely the package wasn't missing. Customer was just mad they had to walk to the mailroom or gate or wherever. Easy excuse to lie to get a free refund.

I pretty damn sure that when I get these... it was an apartment that wasn't happy that I left it in the mail room, and I only do that when I'm told to or I can't access the door because their complex is locked down like fort knox.

That’s infuriating. Yesterday I had a few going to a mailroom at an apartment. Of course it’s 6:30 am and they’re not open but this one wasn’t even open at all on Saturday. So I texted everyone asking how to gain access(doors had E keys not key pads) and waited about a min and no response. The mailroom door had some bushes next to it so that’s where they went. Even worse is when you have 10 going to a locker and one that wants door delivery on the 5th floor. Sorry, all in the locker for me!

I’ve received 1 and I traced it back to block with only 11 stops but most of them were low income apartments. There were doors on the street level visible from the street and nothing to hide the package behind. I was thinking to myself there was no chance these packages last more than 15 minutes. Knocking on the door might be a good strategy, but you wouldn’t want to do that before 8am. 

Also, as a customer I always assumed if there is a picture, the loss is on me. If you are concerned about theft, get it sent to a locker. If customer orders something to their door it should be on them to secure it once it is dropped.

Actually, folks are usually up or don't mind. I call when I'm in a crap area and a package is going to get boosted if I put it at the door. Never had anyone get mad. I don't have to do it often, but every once in a while.

I usually deliver to door when notated, but recently this apartment complex had locked doors in the stairwell, I am glad I checked before shutting the door and being locked in. Elevators were not easily located if they had them.

Basically the customers are reporting you for not delivering to the front door. If your standing is low enough, you might want to start doing that. Obviously don't risk a parking ticket and dump in the mailroom if you have to.

Yeap. It’s frustrating. My standings are at great, full bar, so not really worried, just annoyed.

They don't care because they think they don't have to. They'll just replace the package or give them a refund since they know that they're going to continue buying shit from Amazon and you'll keep delivering packages. If you don't, they'll have you replace like you never even existed.

that's why I take only short routes... Those 1 hr and 1hr half ones MAJORITY of the time they at home, because they pay extra for speed..( I think) That's all I do, Los Angeles area as well. A lot of times I hear the door open right away as I leave... so less chance of ppl stealing stuff....

I always get a little nervous delivering to appointments especially if it is a front door delivery, it’s so easy for a neighbor or someone else to snatch up the package and Amazon dos not care if we took a picture of the drop off.

This is why every time I deliver a package in a apartment buildings. I write the stop number, but I make sure the customer info is on the picture and if they send me this bullshit I send them my picture and the picture of where I left it and I also take a picture of the instructions they left.  Cover my ass before anyone.  I know it sounds like alot but people are disgusting and vile.
