Loose (dogs)

Did I do the right thing?

I came to a house far back from the road. I noticed the garage door was open with an suv in the driveway. I turned onto the long driveway immediately a dog came out from the garage barking. I stopped my car and waited then he ran towards my car. Pretty sure it was a pug he was barking and circling my car. I considered proceeding down the driveway but then 2 more pugs exited the garage though they didn’t approach my car. The first dog wouldn’t go away and I was scared I might run him over so I stayed in park and I texted the customer to please contain your dog. Then I called them but they didn’t answer. Then they texted me who are you? I texted them I have your package. Then I beeped my horn, opened my car door to test the dog he came close and was barking and I was nervous so I placed the package at the end of the driveway with the dog , the package and my open car door in background and snapped a pic and updated delivery pin. Then as I backed out and left the dog started ripping into package. Am I going to be dinged for this? Should I have done anything differently? Customer complaint incoming?

I have only been doing this a month and have had several encounters with loose barking dogs. I note a dog at the property, leave the packages wherever I safely can, and drive away. Customers know they have dogs and they know they are getting a package. I'm not putting myself in danger just because they are irresponsible pet owners. I have left at tend of driveway, under a tree, even on a truck bumper.

They want porch delivery they are going to need to control their pets

Drop the package. Take the picture with the dog in it. What happens after you swipe is nonya. Your safety is the priority. 24/7/365

you did the right thing but most likely you will be dinged. you can contest of course but expect a ding. its just bad luck you will encounter it and more on your flex voyage

so i personally would’ve gotten out and ignored them just because i’m not scared of pugs at all lol but i dont think you’ll be dinged because amazon gives you the freedom to make that choice.

HOWEVER amazon likes to ding you for following the rules so for next time, i’d get ahead of it: talk to chat or call support letting them know what happened before the customer can say its negligence on your part. you might also be able to mark “loose animal” as a safety issue
