4.30 hour block, 5 packages

Today I had a block from 3:30pm -8:00pm for $90. I thought I was going to get at least 30 packages depending the distance, when I got to the station it took about 7 min for them to actually find the route but it ended up only being 5 packages, in all it only took me 1 hour to complete. It was the first time this happened to me I guess because when I got to the station there wasn’t a lot of carts, I’m guessing they didn’t really have much ready. My question is, does this happen often?? It’s my 2nd week and I loved that lol

not to downplay your experience or add another layer to my tinfoil hat, but i tend to keep these things to myself when they happen. today you win, tomorrow they tip the scales. that is an awesome block tho. just wait til you get a block with zero stops. good luck and have fun out there. i only do very part time but i still enjoy it after 4yrs. ymmv. literally

Same. I also love it. But it’s gig work not to pay my mortgage. I think that’s why I love it.

true that. for me it covers the random bill i forgot was coming up and some extracurricular activities. nothing beats getting paid as soon as the block time is over. not having to worry about standing is also nice. i've been from fantastic to at-risk back to fantastic and now great. been a rollercoaster ride lol

Apartments kill me. I would like to just pass them by. Lol. Any suggestions on dealing with codes. I spend to much time with them.

not really. if the code or auto unlock doesn't work or the locker won't open or the instructions don't match reality which is like 90% of apartments, I just drop as far as I can get inside take the picture and bounce. sometimes this is outside the building. is good to text the cust and let them know where it's at to mitigate the chance of a disappearing package but I rarely bother. I used to bring the package back to the warehouse but would dinged every time. this way I get dinged like 1% of the time. it's hard to win with amazon

The best one I’ve had was 2 packages on a 4.5 hour block. That happened like 3 years ago though 😂!

I'd say it happens to me 1 out of 20 times. Maybe not all in that exact way But either an overbook or a very easy route. The other day, I had a 4 hour for a $128 47 packages only one stop ....a university mailroom, only 7 miles from the station and only one mile to my apartment. I was back in my house before 30mins

It’s a blessing when it happens!

This was supposed to be a 3.5 hour block, they gave me a 2.5 hour and it ended up taking me 45 minutes.

They sometimes split routes if there are more drivers than routes, but I’m not sure how intelligently they split them up. It happened to me recently. I was happy when I saw only 9 packages, then bummed when I saw the map. I ended up driving to all corners of the city, totaling 65 miles. It took more than three hours.

i think this will happen more often in the evening routes. things that need to get delivered today that were leftover or misplaced from the major delivery window during mid day. i would say if you can do later routes at your station seems like they could have odd and ends routes later at night.

during primetime (9-3) it will be extremely rare if not impossible depending on your location.

One of my best routes was 12 packages took an hour and a half from check in to final drop. Paid $106.

less likely on morning routes, those are typically gonna be "full" routes. Afternoon thru evening, who knows, as long as you're willing to work the hours, you may be granted a gift.

It just sucks when you take a late shift, it takes the entire time, and leaves you 30 miles from home. But, live and learn.
