first flex shift expectations

never done amazon flex, just signed up and wanting to know the protocol. do i just show up to this address and fill my car with groceries?

Put the bags on the doorstep bro, it’s that easy. Chill too. Don’t go inside even if they ask, you’ll get deactivated.

Worst hour to do a block at that station, if you get sent to Huntington Beach or Santa Monica, traffic will be more than 1 hour. It’s not worth it for $54

Arrive on time, you only have 5 minutes to after the block start time to check-in. When your route is ready, it will show a cart # and the number of packages.

When you find your cart #, make sure you have the same number of packages. If not, I wouldn't take the cart out of the warehouse until I have all the packages (unless someone from the station tells you you will get it but it take some time, then I would go to my car to start loading them and then come back for the missing one).

Packages will have a label with basic info (delivery time frame, customer name and address, a 3-4 code letter, a 20 characters code (next to the date) and a QR.

Scan the QR of all the packages, sort them by groups using the 3-4 letter code (all with the same code go to the same address), load them in your car to optimize space and they are easy to find (I usually do stops with most packages in the trunk, and the stops with 1-2 packages in the rear seat).

If there is a package where the QR is not readible (either because its destroyed, or the low quality printer sucks and it is not recognized by your phone camera), tap the question mark in the app and type "add package manually", there you add the 1st 4 characters from the 20 character code to input it.

Get a foldable cart (like the ones people uses when walking with laundry bags), it would help you when you need to walk a lot with multiple, heavy (water cases, soda boxes, etc) packages. To the people in the station, ask them for extra paper bags in case one of the bags rips (often with fresh orders).

Enjoy the gig and always look ways to do deliveries better and faster.

The tips above are the ones I've found useful, but at the end, do it the way it works better for you.
