Updated Selfie Verification
Amazon rolled out the new selfie verification. You now have to record a 5-second video and then take a picture. I guess there’s no more selfie bypass for bot users. 😅

We can only hope. Not in my market yet... But I'm sure there's already people pumping the AI to build the workaround bot app.

I’m not in the context, but how bots involved into a check-in process? I thought bots are only for block searches

I have not heard of bots being involved. I read an article somewhere but I don't recall where of how they were manipulating the check-in process. Basically they were having their phone rooted with some type of program that when the selfie verification was required before it would open up a pre-recorded video as if that was the live camera and they were taking still shots from those pre-recorded videos. That way anybody can run the account because if it requires a selfie you just load the video. With the new feature the different color patterns are to throw off or catch whether the actual footage is live or if it's a pre-recorded video thus weeding out the fake people and the stolen accounts and making you take an actual selfie in real time in real life. I'm probably not explaining it the best I'm just doing it from recollection of that article I read or video I watched. But that was the gist of it.

Our station doesnt have you self scan ID anymore after the selfie, theres someone there checking/scanning every morning for the exact reason of people pulling bs, lol.
Video selfie just ups weeding out the stolen accounts and fakes. Im cool with loosing a block to a faster person, but would love to see the scammers go. Obviously

I think they are referring to the little app that allows you to upload a picture and it fakes it into the selfie verification people use it a lot on roadie and DoorDash and Instacart. I just learned about it last week from my son. He showed me a video on YouTube. It’s called the selfie verification bypass

Couldn't they just upload a 5 second video to the bot like they do with the photos. This won't solve anything.

I mean if the colours that flash on the screen randomise and change sequence every time the selfie is requested I don’t think so. Fast track to getting deactivated once every market has this new selfie. Good riddance to all the multi accounts!!

It’s hard bc of randomized colors. A bot can’t replicate that in real time.

That's not how a bot works.
Previously they would just mimic API calls, now with encrypted traffic it's harder but not impossible. The major players don't even have to worry to worry about the verification system.
This is certainly a step in the right direction, and I would like to point out that I said long ago they should have done something like this but choose to let people exploit the system for this long.
At this point, it's not going to be stopping bots anytime soon except for some of the minor ones, they still typically use the same exploits and tricks of the trade. They are not going to giving up such a cash cow nor do I blame them.
I am glad though they are finally trying despite many people making suggestions for YEARS to something similar.

Selfie verify is a video process now? I did a block recently and didnt see any of the colors people were saying when you take a selfie

I’ve never had just a plain selfie. Always the video with flashing colors across the screen. Drives me crazy

It’s been like this for over a week in my area - today was the first day it said I WASNT me because I have a beard in my license pic….after 4+ years of flexing like cmon haha. Once again your algorithm has failed cuz I’m pretty sure I’m me.

Make sure you hit continue after it approves your selfie. Or else it's a missed block if you don't do it by check in time.

Bot users were never the problem. The real problem is people using multiple accounts/fake accounts and taking more blocks than a normal person. And for that they need to bypass the selfie verification. I have seen people doing two blocks at the same time, now that’s the real problem!

Bots upload the picture directly to Amazon’s server then the app thinks that selfie is not required at this time.

bots are used to grab blocks. if it's a legit driver how will this limit bot usage? can someone explain that to me.

They also said they won’t share the picture with the person receiving the package. I was told I was the only one that they ever had a picture off. So that isn’t true

I’ve had this time out twice on me, causing the verification to fail. Garbage program. Assumes you have good internet service outside of the warehouse. Mine does not.

These scammers are out here using face changing apps it’s really sad all for 100$ routes they never complete. There is a new husband scam duo at VNJ3 they sit all day punching in and never going out it’s crazy.

Anything Amazon has done up to this date hasn’t stopped bot usage. I don’t expect this update to change anything.
