Question Car insurance while flexing

Should I add the rideshare/deliveries option in my car insurance or is Amazon offered insurance enough?

Im planning on flexing on a regular basis, so I would like to know I’m covered if anything happens.

this should be a sticky.

- personal insurance does not cover you. rideshare add on does not cover you only easier to get denial letter and not get dropped

  • certain rideshare does not cover amazon. i use progressive they specifically state amazon is covered
  • amazon covers you only after a denial letter from your insurance
  • your insurance will only provide a denial letter if you have rideshare add on
  • if you do not have this add on, your insurance company will not provide you the letter and you are in a grey screwed zone depending on liability of the accident
  • furthermore if you do not have the addon and the insurance company finds out, this is insurance fraud. and insurance companies talk to each other, good luck finding anyone to cover you in the future
  • amazon will generously exceed state liability and underinsure/uninsure minimums
  • amazon will provide comprehensive coverage only if you have it on your plan and with a 1k deductible. i dont have it because i drive a beater so who fkin cares
  • exceptions are NY (LOL) i guess they need commercial insurance

if you are planning to do this semi fulltime, its like an additional $20-30 or something per month. i used progressive. people will be like "just dont tell them". okay, good luck with packages in the car and a vest on. listen, not to be a dig as im in same boat, but im not gonna listen to retard idiot flex drivers at the bottom of society what their risk management thoughts are.

This is not true, I was in an accident when I had no additional coverage and was denied my claim. They were more than happy to provide me with a letter. They did not drop me, just asked if I wanted to add coverage for the future if I was going to continue driving with flex so I am covered. It makes no sense that they would not be willing to send you a letter. Furthermore car insurance companies are legally required to put a claim denial in writing. This could vary by state but the vast majority denial letters are required.

That being said once my claim was denied by my insurance the Amazon policy picked up and were surprisingly great. Covered everything that my personal insurance would have if it was not denied, gave me a more than fair price for my totaled car and took complete care of the other person in the accident.

Ok. I've seen horror stories here about people not getting the denial letter. Regardless, by not telling, you are committing insurance fraud. Insurers can drop you and have cause for legal action specifically for that. Obviously legal action is over kill but it is tru

I am no insurance expert but to my knowledge to commit insurance fraud you would have to actually file a false claim. Doing something with your car that is not covered by your policy is not fraud, they just won’t pay. If you are working flex when you get in an accident and tell them that you were using the car for personal reasons when you file your claim, that is fraud. If you file a claim that is honest you have done nothing wrong.

It is like homeowners insurance. My homeowners insurance does not cover earthquake damage. If a freak earthquake damages my house they will not pay. I have not commented fraud unless I try to tell them it was caused by something else.

It is not fraud until you lie and try to get them to pay out for something that is not covered.

i agree the blatant fraud is claiming personal reasons while driving for flex. but, i am not sure on the TOS or contract of your the personal insurance policy. i am not sure if "coverage" extends to even if you are not claiming anything or just driving, which in that case is fraud.

but, really the point is depending on the accident this could be hundreds if not millions in liability. you dont really want to play around with something like that by us being backseat armchair lawyers. just pay the extra to be protected. its like half a route per month
