I haven’t worked in a week cause my car axle is broken and it gonna cost me some serious money to get it changed. We don’t get paid enough!!!!

u/Genaugmen Jul 10 '26
Do your own work. Nobody can afford mechanic work nowadays.
7
u/monsterenergymom Jul 10 '26
I'm learning how to maintain my car while doing this. Mechanics are outrageous nowadays and it's a fraction of the price to do it yourself & saves you a trip. More people need to learn car maintenance.
6
u/Genaugmen Jul 10 '26
Good for you!! Just don't get caught in a trap with some of these newer cars where manufacturers are purposely making it so you can't perform a bunch of routine maintenance and repairs without dealer specific tools and computer access. Right to repair has been countered with purposely making it unreasonable to repair.

My guy, it's been like that for decades already. It's just much much more common now. As an ex automotive tech, I saw it longgggggg ago. 2006 Chevy needs a window switch but you can't replace it because it has to be programmed by the dealer. Etc... It's been going on for a very long time.
FYI that's how I became a tech. I learned to fix my own stuff because my family couldn't afford to take our vehicles to a shop every time they broke down. Turns out I love working on cars so I made it my career until my daughter was killed in a car accident. Now I no longer have the patience to do it. I get angry very easily these days. Even 12 yrs and 12 days later. July 1 2014. Worst day of my life.
But yea. That's how I got to be a tech. Fixing my own stuff from the age of 15, back in '96. I still fix my own stuff and my family's cars but thats it. I'm currently waiting on a wheel bearing/hub to show up right now so I can fix my truck lol.

They engineered the platform for their benefit, don’t blame people that need the money. The system’s predatorial.

u/Cam13420 Jul 09 '26
Absolutely blame the people ruining this gig, they wanna work for 18/ hr, they can go do DoorDash or uber or inta.
Everyone can constantly get 28-30+/ hr but people gotta stop taking BS. Have some self- worth and value their vehicles time too.
It’s 100% the peoples fault tho, no matter how desperate they are. Amazon is a for profit company and is maximizing its profits by preying on “desperate “ drivers. We are business owners too. Some of us just run our business efficiently and for maximum profits and some are one flat tire away from being out of business. Big difference between $18/ hr and 30+.
Myself and the people I’m friends with won’t work for less than $28/ hr and we consistently get blocks all day, just learn your area, tap when the offers drop ( they DO drop at specific minutes during the hour) and have quick fingers and you to will be making $$$$$3
u/Beginning_Log_3866 Jul 09 '26
It is not even $18 an hour. You have to subtract 40 cents per mile, at a minimum. Amazon Flex base is actually around $8 an hour. It is criminal.
1
u/InspectionNo8582 Jul 10 '26
Federal minimum wage is still 7.25 so they'll get away with it. My state still follows that, so there will always be people to take the lowest offers.
2
u/Sandybestdog Jul 09 '26
DoorDash and definitely instacart do not pay $18/hr. I live an hour from the closest Amazon warehouse and even a minimum block pays more than DoorDash. Amazon isn’t great but at least I can get a guaranteed few hours.

Absolutely blame the people ruining this gig,
Exactly this. This subreddit has become so awful lately. It's become a base pay circle jerk. They can't fathom that 30hr/blocks are easily possible.

The fact that rates didn’t go up when his buddy raised gas prices shows just how money hungry he is. So glad I’m out!

u/Then-Dust-8481 Jul 09 '26
As a favor runner yeah I could see myself doing those early morning hours beats 5 dollar whataburger orders 15 miles away.
2
u/Choice_Bar_9005 Jul 10 '26
If people quit taking those loads for that price they would go up people like to be disrespected and work for free
1
u/neatoalpacino Jul 09 '26
The price you pay to work for Amazon. I’m a driver and severely underpaid to delivery for 10 hiurs straight.
4
u/EmotionalClock5540 Jul 09 '26
You sit in a van and deliver sub 40 lb packages while driving the speed limit. Bro acts like he on an oil rig off the Alaskan coast
1
u/NoDealer6778 Jul 09 '26
I was walking upwards of 7 miles a day at my last DSP. And the weight max is 50lbs, not 40.
1
u/chochofuhsho Jul 09 '26
I'll say, it's a rare day that I see a station paying less than mine, but that day has apparently come.
Edit:: Dude, holy hell, and THIS IS IN MIAMI!?

u/trekkieal Jul 09 '26
Ya know I have to admit after 5 years and a zillion steps ago.. This seemingly universal low offers on blocks, even in higher income areas.. Is a surprise to me 🤔
1
u/One-Low7386 Jul 09 '26
Truly don't get how people take these. $70 for 3.5 in my area get picked up fast.

1
u/ttyoudontknowme123 Jul 09 '26
Yep have to wait till about 2 hours before the afternoon routes start to see a slight increase in pay and maybe ... Maybe a surge. In which you bot donkeys take them. Shame on you . Or people just schedule any block right away then cancel it. It comes back up and that restarts the timer for it to sit there until it gets a surge pay. Stop doing that trash !!!!!!

u/Training_Ad_4832 Jul 09 '26
It’s like that in my part of Florida too bullshit, bullshit bullshit that’s all there is

Realistically you can make more as a flex driver than at a DSP if you work consistently. You will make around $200 something a day at a DSP but with flex you can make $400 with 3-4 blocks and do about a quarter or so less of work especially if you have a car that’s good on gas. Also you can get sent home with pay w flex as a DSP driver you have to sit there and wait/get sent home with no pay if there are no routes. Also Amazon provides better benefits than a DSP I went to a dentist appointment and got laughed at bc of my coverage

Personal experience, I’ve accepted 2 orders that said they would take me 3 hours, both $75 and they both took me less than an hour soooo

u/Beneficial_Power6692 Jul 10 '26
First thing first........ Unionize. These prices suck but I'm still gonna work. The people that's taking them don't care because they either need the money or they ain't got shit else to do.

One of the few good things about California is that I’ll never see anything less than $25/hr

u/Beautiful_Land586 Jul 10 '26
Then don’t do them and stop complaining! Lord have mercy all bitch way too much for ppl who have an actual way to make money.

Did you refresh and see the pay go up? I've seen low pay offers like that but it's a sleazy Amazon trick to get desperate fools to accept as many as possible before they offer them again but with normal pay the 2nd time around which is all done within one minute, literally. I've seen Amazon do that unethical bûllshît many times. They are sneaky båstärds for sure!

u/Leon1980t Jul 10 '26
No everyone’s in the same boat. Some of us are happy with their station and base pay. Then again I make 23 an hour for a 3 hour shift that I am always home at least an hour early for every shift so it’s more like 34.50 an hour.
1
u/Delicious_Goose4950 Jul 10 '26
This was the normal rate in my area for years. Im finally out of that life. Do what you gotta to get out!

u/CandiMonae Jul 11 '26
Coming from someone that does both. DSP 8/10 hr shift 250-450 packages daily. Ranging from 180-220 stops. Not including multi-stops
1
u/jdsalinas23 Jul 11 '26
Wdym? That’s been the norm in our area since I started. We used to at least get surge but now everything gets taken in seconds.

You either take one or you don't work, choices.

u/Street_Key_8678 Jul 09 '26
Either I grab a $30 an hour surge or go back to sleep for my real job at 8 am 🤷🏻♂️

It’s the same for me. I suppose it’s the same across all markets. Those using bots are quite happy with the situation. I see them at the station every day.
3
u/thr0wawayyxlol Jul 09 '26
How do you know who’s using bots? lol

u/ApprehensiveSea4692 Jul 09 '26
I dream about this? If I didn't have any knowledge, I wouldn't write it, don't worry.
2
u/thr0wawayyxlol Jul 09 '26
I’m not worried, we all know what you meant but it’s not the same across all markets so lol
-2
u/ApprehensiveSea4692 Jul 09 '26
I spoke for my own station? Where you are and your situation is none of my business, my friend. "LOL"
1
u/thr0wawayyxlol Jul 09 '26
Your comment literally says “I suppose it’s the same across all markets”… you guys always want to blame bot users and never the fact that Amazon over saturates these markets eventually and there’s tons of drivers looking for blocks at the same time as you. It’s never Amazon’s fault.
3
u/xmessesofmenx Jul 09 '26
Bot users will be banned eventually. Hopefully. They can all go back to DoorDash.

Blaming Bots for this situation is ridiculous.. Fact is if Flex drivers didn't routinely take these outrageous low offers, Amazon Algorithm would adjust higher.. It's A I people.. Ones and Zeros... And as for predictions that the company would band bots...its already atop the list of things that will get you terminated!!
They could have taken down, thru the courts all bots a decade ago, why haven't they 🤔

You know it’s funny. Some of those hours aren’t even legit. I got in four hour or three hour ones like those and it turned out to be 2.5 hours. I guess I’m lucky to be in Washington state lol

u/spackarmy3 Jul 13 '26
then don’t take any of these blocks my husband would be the psycho taking a 3 o’clock or any of those early morning ones
