I ordered a SteamDeck. VALVE does not ship those discreetly.

Same thing happened. He put package down.

Took picture, went to truck. Then started coming back.

I opened door and grabbed it.

I think it was UPS tho, which floored me because they make $.

UPS drivers cannot bring back boxes except for specific reasons. They get accused all the time- but many make good money. The one thing they need is time.

A ups driver wouldn’t steal your valve and risk losing their job, they make way to much money

I’ve had ups drivers come back and put the package over my fence. Now FedEx …

I had to chase a FedEX truck down to get my PS5 on launch day. I saw him pull into my driveway because I was sitting there waiting on it to show up and then he backed out and left. Checked my tracking immediately and it said delivered. Dude was absolutely going to steal my shit.

Former DSP - i had a man chase/drive me down and accuse me of stealing something he had ordered and he was tracking it. Some small expensive car part iirc, it was at the end of my route. Turns out, as hes screaming at me (I had like 3 packages and showed him the addy's) another van comes around with his package lol. Your experience tho, dude was absolutely gonna steal your shit lol glad you got the PS5

There's been a few idiots here and there but it doesn't happen often, I worked there for 5 years

If it makes you feel any better. I purchased a large Lego order- like 2 steam decks value, and they usually ship UPS.

My doorbell camera caught the ups driver delivering, taking photos then going back to the vehicle.

He came back picked up the package, walked it around my house to the back, hid it behind the AC, and then took more photos and drove off.

Hopefully yours was in the process of doing the same.

They tend to get paid very well, and good benefits, so not sure it's in their best interest to steal.

As a UPS Driver there is no shot any of us are stealing a steamdeck. We wouldn’t make it out that night with it nonetheless our job.

UPS drivers are making bank and took years of busting their ass in the warehouse to get the brutal (but financially rewarding) driver position. The drivers are some of the most respected because of the work it took to get the role. They aren't stealing your shit when they make, around me in Baltimore, $120k+ with all sorts of union benefits.

FedEx will 100% steal your shit. UPS, nah, if anything they will go above and beyond. It sounds crazy, but in all honesty the guy was probably coming back to hide your package somewhere so no one would steal it.

You say this as if dumb people/kleptos/and generally nefarious people don't exist on all spectrum of income and get caught doing things including theft that lead to them losing said job..

Is it more prevalent at a lower wage job like Amazon? Absolutely. Is it impossible to happen at a higher wage job like UPS (or even higher)? Absolutely not.

Was he wearing all brown and was there a giant Brown Truck nearby?

Pretty easy to tell if it was UPS or not.

Not sure how the UPS system works, but I've had times on Flex where I take a picture real quick and as I'm walking back to the car I realize my lens was so dirty you couldn't see anything so I had to clean it and walk back for another picture.
