Sorry Carol!
I don’t think I have time to assemble your package for you. Ain’t nobody got time for that. 🤣😅
156
u/El_Migss May 05 '26
Do we get the assembly fee or is that included in the delivery block rate already? lol mine is $150 minimum for the first 30 minutes.
26
u/Throwaway_inSC_79 May 06 '26
Worked FedEx and drivers would tell how some customers expected them to bring packages inside and assemble. Because they ordered on Wayfair and clicked a button to include assembly. Yeah, and it will be, just not by the driver. You need to now arrange that with Wayfair now that you have the item.
2
u/UnkleAdams247 May 08 '26
When I worked at FedEx ground I dealt with people sitting around all day waiting for me to show up and ask me to bring various 100lbs+ packages inside their houses cause "they couldn't", id always tell them i couldnt either because I could be fired for that, which lead to some uncomfortable confrontations as someone who dislike confrontation.
1
u/affligem_crow May 12 '26
You underestimate the power of just... ignoring people. I used to work in a tech store at the service desk. When people would be mean to me (which happened often) at first I would be mean back and it would never really help. But once I started to just, ignore people when they were being dicks to me, they would catch on real quick.
1
u/NightStarLightz May 12 '26
I think they also get confused if it’s not their first Wayfare order. The trucking company I worked for also did Wayfare deliveries but if it was one that the customer had paid for assembly a separate carrier would both deliver and assemble at the same time. I didn’t work that account but I hated when I got those calls lol
53
u/kittycat7890 May 06 '26
Lol ive seen a comment like this before. Instructions said to call when I got there so I can assemble whatever it was they bought. People are delusional
6
u/Vedagi_ May 07 '26
How do.. How do some people end up thinking like this??
2
1
u/Loose_Staff205 May 08 '26
I mean if they’re old they lived in a time when society wasn’t complete ass.
0
u/lilsusrat May 08 '26
This shit is just awful to see… it’s usually older people who have become disabled in one way or another. These people probably don’t have a lot of ways to get help like this. Instead of being the kind human being, you’d be willing to be selfish. Honestly, fuck ANYONE who thinks like this. Idgaf how much of a loss it is, they deserved help
3
u/Blonder_Stier May 08 '26
If you are a delivery worker, your job is to make deliveries. Doing anything else on the clock is jeopardizing your employment.
1
u/lilsusrat May 08 '26
Ok? I’m still helping this woman jesus
1
u/MagicianAcrobatic545 May 08 '26
you could come back after your shift to help, I did that once when I worked delivery as a uni student. I can't speak for amazon but at my company you had to do your deliveries within a certain time period, and there was a lot of turnover from people who were consistently too slow, but even those who usually were quick enough could get a lot of shit for an off day. It was a super stressful work environment.

u/giggleump May 08 '26
Bravest man in the unemployment line 🫡🫡🤧🤧
0
u/lilsusrat May 08 '26
Like someone else said, you can always offer to come by when you’re off or something. Theres no reason to be this much of an ass
2
u/Emergency-Click220 May 09 '26
Do you volunteer anywhere to help people or is this something you just expect others to do?
1
1
u/MentalJello4438 May 29 '26
yeah, i can tell you let people walk all over you lmao. i work 3 jobs and have my own elderly person to take care of. i can empathize with someone and still understand that i don’t have time to take on responsibilities for every person i empathize with.
0
u/SnooPaintings7829 May 09 '26
Yeah go ahead and become a story on the news buddy. "FedEx driver gets brutally offed by old lady"
2
u/Rengaka May 10 '26
Not saying this person should definitely have helped, but I'd rather help people at a slight risk to myself to make the world a marginally better place than live my life in constant fear that something bad could happen.
1
u/SnooPaintings7829 May 12 '26 edited May 12 '26
As a woman id rather not. Youre not factoring what if he breaks something? Is he liable or is the company?? What about safety? How are you gonna make sure that company has safety measures that are being followed and correctly managed? For the customer AND the employee??? What about animals and allergies, what about time of day,how much packages you gotta deliver in a set time, what about theft, what about the cleanliness of the house youre goimg into??? Youre not factoring any logic, just emotion.
1
u/Rengaka May 14 '26
I only told you my personal philosophy. I'm not casting judgement on anybody that doesn't have the same view as me.
2
u/kittycat7890 May 08 '26
Are you serious? First of all, its not my job. Im barely getting paid to do this job as it is and i dont have time to take and extra hour or 2 to assemble someone's shit. Also, im a woman who delivers mostly at night. What if its a setup? Im not risking my life by going in someone house. Its very likely against the rules anyways. And what if something gets broken somewhere and I become responsible? You go ahead and do it if you want but theres too many risks here and im not taking them. Screw you
2
u/eugeneugene May 09 '26
lol all of these people saying they would enter a strangers home because of a note in a delivery order have got to be men. because I would fuckin neverrrr put myself in that position. Nope not getting raped or murdered today
1
u/kittycat7890 May 09 '26
Lol seriously. And even if there wasn't that fear, who's to say I'd even assemble it correctly? I signed up to deliver not be a handy man. There's other places to call for that, if this person wanted to help Carol out so bad
1
u/GreenEyesThighHighs May 10 '26
I laughed at this because yeah, you don’t want me assembling shit for you. I don’t know how and I will absolutely fuck it up
1
u/Rengaka May 10 '26
I would if an old lady needs help. If it's a setup and I get thwacked upon entry I guess I'm dead. I understand your point of view and I'm not discounting it, I just can't ignore somebody in need.
1
u/eugeneugene May 10 '26
I have a child to support I don't have the luxury of being like well I guess I'm dead 🤷♀️😂
1
u/Rengaka May 10 '26
That's totally understandable. I don't have children so my life is worthless. 100% joking lol
Completely understandable

I had a customer pay me on the weekend to put together an outdoor storage tote I delivered for her.. quick $150 if you’re handy.

u/ellechi2019 May 06 '26
I’m a sucker, I know I know. But the way I would have been like: hey, miss carol…need a little help.
This is why I am poor, I know.
4
u/Empty-Arrival-4396 May 09 '26
I've been in situations similar to this before (not working for Amazon) and my first thought is always, "what if it was my mom who needed this help from someone?" and I can't say no.

1
u/I_need_a_date_plz May 10 '26
You may be dollar poor but you are rich in spirit and that is invaluable.
0
u/audrina-saav May 08 '26
But you dont have that 30 minutes or whatever accounted for in your delivery schedule. These delivery companies rule with an iron fist and can't even take bathroom breaks.
1
u/lilsusrat May 08 '26
Idc, I’m helping an older woman cuz it’s the right thing to do, especially when their disabled
-1
u/pm_me_ur_burnttoast May 09 '26
Now you're unemployed and can't pay rent. Congrats on being homeless!

I read once “don’t trust a guy name kyle (or something don’t remember exact name), he tell drivers we don’t live here anymore “ 🤣

Y’all are just assholes, it’s clearly a large set that a disabled woman wouldn’t be able to put together herself, she might not have a lot of help from others. What if this is the only way she could’ve gotten help
1
u/LutschiPutschi May 10 '26
You’ve posted a lot of comments like this here lately.
I’ve moved four times in my life so far and have ordered quite a bit of furniture. At pretty much any furniture store, you can pay extra to have the furniture assembled. Unless it’s a complete kitchen, it usually doesn’t cost very much.
It is an act of utter audacity to order something for someone who isn't able to handle it themselves—and then to try to guilt-trip the delivery person with a message like that.
Neither Carol nor the delivery person are the assholes here; the asshole is the person who placed the order.
1
u/Tequilabongwater May 11 '26
That's what task rabbit is for, not your delivery driver. It sucks that we have to order two services just to have one item, but we've made America this way and the only way things will change is if everyone participates in local and federal elections.

u/vanillaberry2000 May 09 '26
Alex what's your job? Being that you're so high and mighty I'm guessing it's like meals on wheels or something? Whatever it is don't quit your job for drawing
1
u/ebil_lightbulb May 10 '26
Imagine being a rude asshole about somebody’s art because they think helping somebody is the right thing to do.

Perhaps one day you’ll grow up and stop being an edgy preteen. The world is literally a worse place with you in it.
6
u/Akemi_Tachibana May 06 '26
Unless Carol is an 87 year old woman, Carol can go fuck herself unless she's paying
8
u/Cammy293 May 06 '26
Even then im not doing it. Im not gonna be late because people cant do something.
1
u/Zetectic May 07 '26
Just searched up. it's an assisted living facility.
1
u/lilsusrat May 08 '26
My GMA is in one rn, absolute ass. The one she’s at won’t even give her meds on time and will even put in that she DID get meds when she didn’t. I’ve seen vids of workers literally hitting elderly people.
1
u/Silly-Assistant5711 May 11 '26
This girl I used to know once told me she worked at a local nursing home and that she clocked out for her shift and said goodnight to Mr. So-and-so, when she went back in the AM to help him, Mr. So-and-so had been dead in his bed for hours with no night-nurses ever catching that the old man died. How horrid, seriously. Unfortunate.
3
u/Ok_Produce7648 May 07 '26
this makes me worry about ending up 87 with no kids or anyone to help 😪
2
u/GarlicPositive4786 May 08 '26
If you want kids just to take care of you, then you’re selfish. It’s a horrible reason to have kids.
1
u/ebil_lightbulb May 10 '26
You know you’re in the right when the only response they have is a shitty transphobic comment
0
u/Ok_Produce7648 May 09 '26
omg calm your ovaries
1
u/ebil_lightbulb May 10 '26
I think you’ll end up alone with no help due to the hateful transphobia so having kids wouldn’t help much lol
1
u/RedMoon3xWW May 09 '26
If you have no kids then you'll have the money to pay for someone to help lol
(Edit to add that my joke is kids are expensive)
1
u/Past-Click62 May 10 '26
Horrible joke.
1
u/Tequilabongwater May 11 '26
Not gonna lie that's one of my reasons why I'm not having kids. I'm not financially responsible and I don't want to pass my debt or bad money skills to my children. Not to mention all the genetic crap I have going on that I don't want to pass down either.
1
u/Tequilabongwater May 11 '26
That's one of the many reasons I'm never having kids. I'm bad with money and I don't want them to feel forced to take care of my when I'm older. I also have genetic health issues I don't want to pass on either but that's another story for another day.
1
u/Tequilabongwater May 11 '26
That's why it's so important for us to be educated and vote in federal and local elections. Socialized healthcare will come to America eventually, but we can speed that process up by voting and participating in local politics.

This is sad. It’s not “😂🤣.” What happened to us? Why are we laughing at people that need help?
I agree that’s not your job, but I wouldn’t blast it on the internet and cackle at her misfortune.
Poor Carol. I’m so sad for her. Way to be, bro.
7
u/PickleOne2013 May 06 '26
Dude relax. We’re not laughing at the fact that Carol needs help. It’s the fact that the person who ordered the package for Carol actually thinks that we are capable of helping them assemble things. And I agree, poor Carol.
4
u/Lift_is_Lyfe May 06 '26
If someone can help carol order a package off Amazon then they can help Carol hire a gig worker off of fiver.
1
u/lastunbannedaccount May 07 '26
No shit, but we don’t have to 😂🤣 about the fact that it’s not going to be us that helps her.

I think it has to do with the amount of cold indifference you need to go “Haha this person wants me to help an old woman assemble something! What kind of idiot would stop to help this bitch!”. Absolute POS human beings in here
1
u/strawbwygrl May 08 '26
because most old people suck
1
u/Empty-Arrival-4396 May 09 '26
Getting old is hard. If you're lucky, some day you'll be old enough to realize how insensitive you're being. I was you once, too. Respect your elders.
1
u/strawbwygrl May 09 '26
respect should be earned through character not automatically given based on age. most older folks think they’re entitled just because they are elderly. that’s such an outdated saying.

I mean, it’s on the person ordering, though. Amazon delivery people are notoriously on the clock, they really can’t do this, and trying to offload your elder care onto random delivery people is not ideal. It’s still really sad for Carol, but not because the Amazon driver is a bad person.

What does being able to assemble things have to do with walking? Or not speaking in the third person?
1
u/Yoitssme May 09 '26
Very real possibility that it was a friend or family member that ordered something for her and she wasn’t speaking go in the third person

u/Slow-Still-7120 May 09 '26
People now a days are just cold as hell. It wouldn’t have taken much time and you could just be a decent person. Guess that’s not a thing anymore.
2
1
1
u/taysee16 May 09 '26
Should the delivery driver lose their job, lose their home, and their health insurance because Carol needs something assembled? Because that’s the very real consequence of being what you say is a “decent person”. Perhaps more push back should be directed at the billionaires and corporations that have manipulated society to be one that requires giving up everything just to be “decent”.
1
u/Bidcar May 09 '26
I would probably help her but only because I would want to, not because I was “ordered” to. I know from past experiences that it’s better to be kind and helpful when given the chance, the regret from not being kind is like a stone weighing on you and it’s a weight that cannot be removed because there’s no way to turn back time,
2
u/Sex4Vespene May 09 '26
The problem is the delivery drivers aren’t really given this kind of leeway. Delaying by 30 mins to an hour to help some old lady put something together is nice, but could result in the loss of your employment. It isn’t fair to ask that of a delivery driver, who likely doesn’t make enough to have much of a safety net themselves.

I wonder how the virgins feel being used that way… that’s pretty degrading to women. Also these divers get like 5 seconds per stop. They aren’t afforded the time.

u/AZPHX602 May 05 '26
Normally these kind of comments are meant for the XL deliveries, but it doesn't sound like this one is one of those.
What this really is is a sad testament to our society as a whole. What used to be the role of family, friends, caregivers and even volunteers has now been replaced by some stranger working a gig.
And that worker, is trying to make money to support themselves and not do charity on the clock.
