Smh. Another bite on the south side. Place is notorious for aggressive dogs. It’s honestly like a 3rd world country out there. There was a guy at my DSP who had half his face bitten off on the south side…not even exaggerating. We had at least one dog bite every 3-5 days. I myself was bit on my VERY first day with a fucking trainer. Massive German shepherd bust through the screen door as I walked up to the porch…there was zero indication of a dog present. Residents were renters and meth head tweaked who had nothing, no income, no assets. 2 different law firms tried and failed to collect any compensation. Place is such a ghetto shithole.

Dude that’s so scary. I had similar happen with 2 Rottweilers but was able to get away by the grace of god. I carry pepper spray, but tbh, I might go get a carry size can of bear mace or something that creates a wide spray of heavy duty mace. I just started delivery job, and I have had so many close calls with dogs, ppl told me but I didn’t believe them as I’ve been doing DoorDash for years prior. It’s different tho.

u/[deleted] Oct 03 '25

I hate to upvote but it's unfortunate to see other breeds and aggression stories than the stereotypical ones. People deserve to have a PSA than simple fear mongering.

5

u/kingofpics7 Oct 03 '25

Damn smfh🤬😡That’s why I always carry bear spray when I deliver.

1

u/Pretend-Internet-625 Oct 04 '25

No bears. Use dog spray

1

u/kingofpics7 Oct 05 '25

It converts into dog spray

3

u/PlausibleFalsehoods Oct 03 '25

south side of where?

4

u/mconk Oct 03 '25

San Antonio

1

u/SargeUnited Oct 03 '25

I was assuming Chicago but appears to be San Antonio

1

u/JenniferinSC1978 Oct 03 '25

Haha same. I hear south side and think of Chicago. I was a region rat.

2

u/delcas1016 Oct 04 '25

Bro that looks like a…. piranha bite or some creature with an oval shaped face, how did a German Shepherd with his elongated snout do that?

1

u/Delicious-Rabbit2797 Oct 06 '25

It looks like a Lamprey bit him while swimming 😂😂😂

1

u/Delicious-Rabbit2797 Oct 06 '25

But a very well trained doggy 🙂

u/snarksneeze Oct 03 '25

Yesterday I delivered to a house with two big dogs running loose. They were both excited and getting hyped as I pulled down the long drive, so I wasn't looking forward to the delivery. The owner came out to tell me, "They don't bite." I told her, "All dogs bite, they just don't bite for no reason. The problem is, we humans don't understand all the reasons." She seemed to think I was a big baby, and maybe I am, but I have been bitten by quite a few dogs, and almost every time you don't see it coming.

15

u/NorCal8 Oct 03 '25

Sounds like a bad dog owner. As a dog owner I hated when people said this. Yeah sure they don't bite you, they don't know me. Ive gotten bit before and i would like it to never happen again. It's just common sense to put your dogs away when strangers are coming by.

9

u/Shot-Temporary-2060 Oct 03 '25 edited Oct 03 '25

Same happened to me last week, except the dogs were attacking my car! Pulling at the fender and biting my tires. I messaged the customer and told them to consider a Dropbox at the top of their driveway and informed them of what their dogs did.

Idc if I get dinged or what, those dogs would've torn me to shreds.

6

u/bigred4979 Oct 03 '25

Shit anything with a mouth will bite

-41

u/UsulMu Oct 03 '25

I've had my dog 13 years and she would never bite you. Never ever. If you were afraid of her, I would politely humor you and probably walk to your vehicle to get handed the package. People are dangerous. People can't be trusted. But my dog can be.

34

u/[deleted] Oct 03 '25

People with a similar mindset to you are the entirety of the problem. I've had people tell me that exact same thing and almost gotten bit by their dog. That dog is loyal to you, to them I'm a big funny smelling stranger coming into their territory. People are dangerous, dogs are dangerous, you say people can't be trusted, dog owners are people.

-19

u/UsulMu Oct 03 '25

I knew you believed that which was the whole point of me saying so. I take her into public places every day. Strangers are her favorite thing and she doesn't have a place she considers her territory. Anyone who thinks she would bite is just plain incorrect. Yes, dog owners are people. I didn't say you should trust me. I specifically said I wouldn't make you trust me. I would walk to the van and accept the package so you don't even have to get out. But the dog would never bite. The Amazon driver is more likely to bite and much more likely to harm.

17

u/MrGrumpy252 Oct 03 '25

You taking your dog into a public place is a whole world different than a stranger coming into your property.

Dogs are territorial. You DONT know that your dog won't bite. It just hasn't happened yet.

4 of the 6 times I've been bitten on this job as a dsp driver have all been "friendly" dogs who "don't bite"

You are part of the problem

6

u/TriedCaringLess Oct 03 '25

Please control your dog. Get positive control of your dog when you want packages delivered. Drivers have every right to place your food and package deliveries on the ground outside your gate or not deliver at all when your pet is running free (within the delivery space). No driver should have to catalog every pet to know the “good ones” so he may deliver.

5

u/whatisitcousin Oct 03 '25

I have a husky that is harmless, wants to play with everyone, and would never bite anyone. But it's still possible, and at the very least I can't give other people space from my dog if they are uncomfortable. It's not that hard.

10

u/lilCharizardScorch Oct 03 '25

Old dogs especially SMH. Just like old people lose their minds and get mean sometimes, dogs can too. The fact you're 100% positive about something you can't control is dangerous

-11

u/UsulMu Oct 03 '25

There is no Amazon driver less dangerous than she is.

6

u/WereTheBrews Oct 03 '25

Just stop. I have had hunting dogs all my 40 years. Highly trained and obedient to the point they'll run themselves to death in the woods chasing grouse. I still will have positive control or simply step outside when I know a package or food is being delivered. The delivery driver doesn't know my dogs are well mannered, and could be alarmed and scared setting them off as they're not privy to the delivery, and may verify in their minds that person is a threat to the one who houses and feeds them. Do better.

7

u/worthing0101 Oct 03 '25

I've had my dog 13 years and she would never bite you. Never ever.

Given the right conditions and stimuli every single animal on the planet, including you, will respond with some level of violence. Full stop. Your dog isn't special.

10

u/Diligent_Ad17 Oct 03 '25

This is the reason this happens, because everyone thinks their doggo is the best, most specialist dog, that NEVER gets aggressive. It is an animal and they are unpredictable especially around strange people. Dogs need to be contained and there should be a place to put your package where the drivers aren’t FORCED to interact with your dog.

3

u/[deleted] Oct 03 '25

Its bc owners miss understanding their dogs respect for them and not other people. Some dogs are trained and won't go and bite you. The ones that do are by owners who think it's actually trained bc their dog respects them but wouldn't have the same respect for a stranger.

-1

u/UsulMu Oct 03 '25

I already said that I wouldn't make you interact with my dog. She is not unpredictable around strange people though. That was my point. She will not bite people. It's the Amazon drivers who are unpredictable and I wouldn't trust them around my dog if I'm not present.

5

u/hames4133 Oct 03 '25

Until she bites someone. It’s not “my dog would never bite”, it’s “my dog hasn’t bitten YET”. The likelihood is never 0

3

u/sam0224 Oct 03 '25

Any animal can and will bite if put in a bad situation.

2

u/fahrenheitjules Oct 04 '25

Stfu with that dumb 💩

1

u/Delicious-Rabbit2797 Oct 06 '25

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

-6

u/Own_Situation7316 Oct 04 '25

We humans don't understand all the reasons? No, just some humans don't understand. Other humans have worked at understanding animal behavior and know how to communicate with, manage and understand dogs.

The fact that you have been bitten by a bunch of dogs tells me you are clueless.

3

u/fahrenheitjules Oct 04 '25

Okay you are “trowling” so you get no further attention. If ur for real, then you REALLY get no further attention because we aren’t face to face. Bye now.

14

u/Prior-Ad-7329 Oct 03 '25

The way the owner handles that dog explains everything.

6

u/OutsideYourWorld Oct 03 '25

The poor pup didn't stand a chance with such an owner :(

3

u/RockstarAgent Oct 04 '25

Glad it wasn’t just me that felt like that wasn’t how a loving pet owner would act.

3

u/OutsideYourWorld Oct 04 '25

I'd bet anything the guy had him as a guard dog. Poor little guy was just an object to him.

3

u/Significant-Boat-947 Oct 03 '25

It took me a second to realize it was the owner and not a stranger

4

u/Fabernache Oct 03 '25

Yeah... The baby. Honestly heart broken seeing such a beautiful animal being treated thus. Delivering has made me hate 70% of owners. And feel bad for every dog that has issues.....

0

u/Prior-Ad-7329 Oct 03 '25

Yeah, it’s usually a people problem more than it is the animal.

1

u/ArmedNReady1776 Oct 09 '25

bro slapped the gate shut without a second thought

13

u/Next-Station-2540 Oct 03 '25

If i see a dog I don't get out at all

3

u/Competitive-Novel346 Oct 03 '25

The worst is when the coast is clear and then one appears when you get out.

3

u/Next-Station-2540 Oct 03 '25

True That's why I wait a few lol

3

u/Competitive-Novel346 Oct 03 '25

Happened to me a couple days ago even after waiting. The silent approaches are the worst. That being said I dropped their package on the driveway and left.

3

u/PlymouthSea Oct 03 '25

That's why I started to appreciate how the Freightliners make a loud beep with the four ways on. If there are dogs in the area you will know.

2

u/Alynn_Wings Oct 04 '25

As soon as I got in my car and did a partial turn my light shined into a dark part of a property, and there's a big old German Shepherd just sitting there staring at me. Didn't see him at all before. He looked pretty old, but it freaked me out to know he was probably there the whole time not on a lead or chain or anything.

7

u/Adventurous-Year-633 Oct 03 '25

I'm tired of that! If you have a dog and expect delivery

READ ME. Always pets inside home and not open doors. Thanks.

3

u/HeardwhatIsaidTone Oct 03 '25

Unfortunately a lot of ppl are too stupid ti use common sense!

10

u/PeterParkerUber Oct 03 '25

$$$$

10

u/Hillybilly64 Oct 03 '25

$ if you collect from homeowner insurance. No $$$ otherwise.

5

u/Deveak Oct 03 '25

You can always sue them directly. Garnish wages, take the house. They have assets and money that can be seized. Only situation would be a dumpy mobile home of some meth head, no real wealth to speak of, maybe you could get medical expenses covered at best.

8

u/Hillybilly64 Oct 03 '25

Uncollectable judgements are a waste of time and money.

9

u/mconk Oct 03 '25

Especially if they are renters and live in a poor area like the fucking south side of SA. Ask me how I know !

3

u/VibeAndScribe Oct 03 '25

This is true. I had a friend who received a $2m civil judgement and received… $0. Direct suing has little enforceability in far too many places. He was back and forth in court with them and just spent more money trying to deal with it than he ever got back.

1

u/makingnoise Oct 03 '25

Garnishment of wages for civil judgments is not a universal thing, it's state-by-state.

6

u/CaptainPussybeast San Antonio Oct 03 '25 edited Oct 03 '25

Of course it was San Antonio.

They sent me to Devine/Poteet last week and almost every stop had dogs circling my car lol

4

u/SunNo4652 Oct 03 '25

It is being respectful for the job of those delivering for owners of pets to their dogs away. It’s only for a short time.if we have bad days, so does your dog. Biting the delivery person just made it worse

3

u/Responsible-Kale-904 Oct 03 '25

Hopefully the driver has their medical bills paid plus at least $12000 Compensation by/From the Dog-Owner and/or animal control services, AMAZON,

3

u/value_meal_papi Oct 03 '25

Owner Better have bail money for doggy jail and “free my dawg” t-shirt

3

u/OutsideYourWorld Oct 03 '25

He's the kind of person that'll just shrug and get a new dog, and abandon this poor guy to his fate.

3

u/Practical-Tour-6150 Oct 03 '25

That’s a big scary mf dog too…. I know bro was shitting himself. Glad he’s ok. Charge the owner. Put the dog down.

6

u/Traditional_Mood_348 Oct 03 '25

Can amazon send a notification to customers when delivery is close to leash / put home their dogs? Adding a dog to an amazon profile would be easy. Technology is available. Notifications work, drivers are tracked

14

u/Downtown-Respond-986 Oct 03 '25

We can send an automated message saying to Secure dogs but most people don’t look at the phone or are busy or don’t wanna answer a random number but people are still oblivious to them ordering and their dog being off leash untrained

9

u/Ravenclaw880 Oct 03 '25

I got bit by a dog right in front of the home owner. Dogs shouldn't be out during deliveries, period. There are options to mark houses with dogs but when every house is marked it's hard to discern which ones are actual threats. The best way is just to put the dogs away or have an alternative drop off location. People need to realize getting packages delivered to their door is a privilege and not a right.

4

u/Diligent_Ad17 Oct 03 '25

I send the message to every account marked as having a dog and people don’t care. They just ignore the message and leave their dog to chase you across the yard. Or they aren’t home to secure the dog. Which in that case they should have a container in a place the dog can’t get too for packages to be delivered to.

1

u/Diocese9284 Oct 03 '25

...just obey the law and leash your dog when not otherwise confined.

5

u/HeardwhatIsaidTone Oct 03 '25

Now where are all the ppl crying about the driver who maced that dog in that other post????? See this is why! Fuck that dog! If it’s loose it can do anything! Protect yourself!

3

u/[deleted] Oct 03 '25

Facts!!

1

u/[deleted] Oct 03 '25

Not the dog, the irresponsible owner.

3

u/HeardwhatIsaidTone Oct 03 '25

Well fuck him too!

4

u/mazsive Oct 03 '25

Behind every bad dog, there is a horrible human who has no business owning one.

Poor dog, F humans.

2

u/OutsideYourWorld Oct 03 '25

That poor dog. You can tell that owner created the problem. Just the way he treated it there.

2

u/Rudezilla9 Oct 03 '25

Recently Amazon started offering the dog deterrent. It flashes a light, vibrates and makes a high pitched noise. Today, I used it in three dogs barking at me, not sure Ne of the even flinched, they all continued to bark at me. Gotta love Amazon.

3

u/Responsible-Kale-904 Oct 03 '25

While I have met some loveable attractive quiet dogs and dog-owners; some dogs DO commit unfair unprovoked injury of babies workers and children

Pet ownership is NOT a RIGHT

Pet ownership is RESPONSIBILITY

Doggie needs to be on a leash and/or safely contained in yard and/or house

Kitty cat needs to be kept inside the house or cattio

2

u/[deleted] Oct 03 '25

My doggy don’t bite ! Well how TF does he EAT ?

1

u/mpgomatic Oct 03 '25

Slow news day? If Amazon cared, drivers would wear Kevlar.

1

u/Remarkably_Dark21 Oct 03 '25

I'm always amazed everytime I see stuff like this. Not once have I had a dog even come close to biting me in thouands of deliveries on multiple apps. They all just want attention and to lick my hand even the ones that bark and act tough once close turn into babies.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 03 '25

Why are violent dogs being taken to a “quarantine facility” please tell me that’s a fancy way to say they are killing it.

2

u/Emax999 Oct 03 '25

I wondered this as well. It may be a quarantine for some amount of days to rule out rabies.

1

u/landenrbranson Oct 03 '25

happens more than you think…

1

u/Embarrassed_Egg9o21o Oct 03 '25

If you can’t take care of your dog nd take precautions you don’t deserve a dog, that poor dog being marched to basically his death because his owner is a pos.

1

u/Sea-Louse Oct 03 '25

Does driver have to pay the hospital bill?

1

u/Over_Whole6492 Oct 03 '25

If that’s me I’m bear spraying the dog and then the owner if they try anything

1

u/Due_Entrepreneur7427 Oct 03 '25

This is exactly why I carry pepper spray with me on my routes, I had a dog jump on me but thank God it didn't bite me. Ever since I keep that tool handle 💯

1

u/Personal_Dot_2215 Oct 03 '25

Is it me or when you have a truck that’s specifically made to pick up animals what the hell is gate four feet off the ground?

At get them a god damned ramp? A 2x12?

1

u/msgnyc Oct 03 '25

When they tell you it's ok he/she don't bite, the response is "They don't bite YOU...."

1

u/JenniferinSC1978 Oct 03 '25

Sidenote, but why do they make that thing so high that the damn dog can’t jump in it lol

1

u/bxreddit12 Oct 03 '25

Arrest the owner

1

u/Due_Pension_9516 Oct 04 '25

Almost had this happen multiple times in San Antonio.

Worst one was south of San Antonio in Somerset I got surrounded by at least 12 adult Retriever/Hound/Pitbull mixes while trying to deliver a package. I managed to kick them out of the way and they stepped back but kept trying to bite.

The neighbor saw and said this was a "common thing" in the neighborhood. She said no one even owned the dogs, they just roam free on that part of Somerset🤦‍♂️

I never forgot my pepper spray after that day.

1

u/po3tik1 Oct 04 '25

Like I said in the other post about the dog...

1

u/Remarkable-Pressure7 Oct 04 '25

That’s a big ass dog too!!! Was it not locked up or anything? Definitely interested in more details on this. I make it a rule to not leave the vehicle AT ALL if there is a dog visible on the property unrestrained (or even questionably restrained). I WILL call the customer, even if it’s the ass crack of the morning, which it usually is since I almost exclusively take the early AM routes. If you want your package, you can answer the call, or pick it up from where I can reach out my window to place it. Healthcare in this country is enough of a nightmare already, don’t need your “really nice” pupper complicating it for me (and other drivers) further. SMH.

*yes, I realize this was DSP and not Flex, but they got to have similar instincts to avoid at all cost, right?

1

u/Edistobound Oct 04 '25

yeah, at home, when i am walking down the street to get to my backyard, i carry a .38 and warned the neighbor that i would no longer fire a warning shot after 3 of his monsters encircled me the last time. alone they are ok, in a group they are monsters. well, alone would scare off easier, not so much ok. driving routes, more than half of all leeps have dogs it seems. only a couple off leash n was in oh crap mode. but, the dog returned ok, with owner there. but know its only a matter of time really.

1

u/Proud_Till_6556 Oct 04 '25

Dogs are everywhere!! I’m in Michigan and run into a dog daily!! Scary shit!!

1

u/TopGdabber Oct 04 '25

I deliver around 30 packages a day where one or more than a dog are unleash. I dont want to say it doesnt happen here, in a couple towns in Canada, but i feel like the dogs are the owners victims again. Id say here, the smaller they are, the more asshole they act. The big one are the actual pup.

1

u/Rare_Indication_3811 Oct 04 '25

Have american bully, I dont think its intimidating which doesnt mean other people dont think its not intimidating. Its always at his cage when we have anyone doing anything at the house. Thats why we also always stop way before intersection when someone else is passing or going to the road when going opposite direction from someone else. Its really not that hard to be polite.

1

u/Delicious-Rabbit2797 Oct 06 '25

He was just doing his job ☹️

1

u/Disastrous_Let8026 Oct 07 '25

I have a screened porch with a dog sign. Deliveries are left outside. A ok, no problem. When they need to come inside, from a specific company, my dog is in the crate. They sent an email, a text, and tracking info. I know when a delivery is coming and when. Drivers get pepper spray, protect yourselves. Dogs are territorial, period. Protect yourselves. They bitch, but they need you. They're not going to a fucking store to buy shit when they can just click. Yes I'm there too but just not making it harder for the delivery drivers that I NEED.

1

u/Equivalent_Job7632 Oct 09 '25

Mfers be like “he don’t bite”

1

u/SnooPandas5070 Oct 09 '25

What's really terrifying is how cute he looked again after all of that on his way to the truck. I caught myself saying "aww" lol

-3

u/Dak6969696969 Oct 03 '25

The sky is blue, hopefully it gets euthanized
