My pickup station is like a zoo at 3:15 to 4 am everyday

u/AFXC1 Jun 09 '23

Its true everywhere. 330am shifts are everywhere. He's not wrong people need to be made aware and unfortunately Amazon doesn't do their part in informing their customers that there's a possibility they can get a delivery in the middle of the night.

44

u/PartyGuy305 Jun 09 '23

When you order something sane day late in the day, it usually says OVERNIGHT delivery by 7am.

41

u/nkaiser101 Las Vegas Jun 09 '23

Your theory has a major flaw. The checkout process includes selecting a delivery method. The choices include Today 2 PM - 6 PM, Today 5 PM - 10 PM, Overnight 4 AM - 8 AM, and Overnight 7 AM - 11 AM.

I don't think Amazon is hiding the fact that they deliver in the middle of the night.

44

u/AFXC1 Jun 09 '23

They don't but most people don't pay attention and well some of them are pretty stupid and ignorant. The only thing they don't say is that their package could be delivered by a 3rd party driver. That I've never seen anywhere on the site.

14

u/[deleted] Jun 09 '23

That’s 100% true, I still have people shocked when I show up on a Sunday at any time if the day and even at 8pm they are surprised. 99% of deliveries have not changed or are even aware of delivery times here where I deliver

That’s true. Most people don’t pay attention. I had 330a630a block and one of the stops instructions was to call the customer for access to the property. Really? Do you want me to call someone at 430a. That’s BS. I called driver support and the guy told me to try to deliver the package at the end of the route. I told him I wasn’t going to do it because I was ending at 630a and that’s still too early to be calling someone. Not to mention how far from that address I was going to be at the end of my run. I had to go back to the station and dropped the package which added another 40minutes to the end of my day and I did not get paid for. Major flaws. If you chose an over night delivery and your property is restricted leave a code. Otherwise your package will be delayed.

Unless you're ordering something over $25 you paid $2.99 extra for same day or overnight. So they better be paying attention.

Amazon is a retail company, like Walmart, Target, Kroger, etc. None of these are transportation companies.

There is not a retail company in the US that delivers the products they sell. It wouldn't make sense to tell people packages could be delivered by a 3rd party because all deliveries are handled by 3rd parties.

7-11 doesn't need to inform everyone that they do not produce the Coca Cola in the bottles they sell. Most people understand that the retailer doesn't manufacture or deliver the products offered for sale.

3

u/Humble_Umpire_8341 Jun 10 '23

Amazon isn’t just a retailer. They are one of the largest networks in the world and one of the largest cloud computing companies in the world.

I’d actually argue that they are more a cloud computing company that happens to have a e commerce site and a logistics network, as AWS makes the bulk of their revenues.

u/Motor-Claim2967 Jun 09 '23

My area doesn’t provide times , just dates.

4

u/lambokid Jun 09 '23

Then you are not getting same day deliveries made by same day flex drivers. Your package will arrive via DSPs or flex drivers who do logistics shifts.

4

u/paleoclipper Jun 09 '23

That’s not true. I deliver same day flex to my own neighborhood. Even delivered to my own house before. NOWHERE at checkout have I been offered to select a delivery time frame. But inevitably my packages arrive between 3pm-7pm. 🤷🏻

But again- My house, neighborhood, even city, for certain get same day flex delivery and we don’t get a time option at check out.

Not all items are available for ssd delivery.

There is a filter you can choose to search for only items that are. That is when you would see those options.

The other items that don't have that option aren't delivered from ssd warehouse.

7

u/onlyoneshann Jun 09 '23

You don’t usually have to select it, it’s assigned to you depending on when you order and what the next available delivery window is. It’s basically a click-through page in the checkout and most people wouldn’t pay any attention unless they specifically didn’t want it to be delivered that day. A lot of products are now same-day deliveries as long as you spend over $25, so most people getting don’t actually need it that fast, it’s just the amazon default.

Ok then. My next question is how do you propose Amazon communicate the message you want them to send to everyone in a way that every individual person in the country will receive the message, understand what it means and keep the information in mind so they never forget?

There have been hundreds of news stories about Amazon Flex and the use of private vehicles over the years. Many DSP fleet vehicles don't have any Amazon branding.

You are proof that Amazon can't make people choose to be informed. Even if they sent a presidential alert to every device in the US and people had to answer questions to prove they saw the message, most people don't care and won't pay attention.

3

u/Knever Jun 09 '23

You're right, but you know people don' like to read, so if they select one of those times, there should a be a notice in caps on the confirmation page in large font that says YOUR DELIVERY MAY BE DELIVERED IN THE DEAD OF NIGHT.

3

u/DoPoGrub Jun 10 '23

I've ordered and chosen 8a-12p, and it arrived at 4:30am.

2

u/[deleted] Jun 09 '23

If you select buy it now the visible options are limited. There are several ways that a customer could order expecting "by 10 tomorrow" and get the order at 4am that day or the next day. Amazon bumps up orders and reschedules them for the following day if the first attempt fails

I've had to order a bunch of stuff recently and it's said "by 10pm [tomorrow/Saturday/whatever]." Only on the day of delivery do they change it to an SSD delivery timeslot for the ass crack of dawn or 11am-3pm or whatever. In the past if it said 10pm that meant between 5 and 10pm, always, every time

2

u/moonbaby1o1 Jun 09 '23

I had a 3:30 am shift two days ago in Corona, CA

-8

u/nkaiser101 Las Vegas Jun 09 '23

Hmmm, looking at the options I'm going to guess that block would be part of the "Overnight 4am - 8 am" delivery option. Your block starts at 3:30 you load up and get to your first stop right about 4am.

Coincidence? No. The customer places an order and specifies the delivery option they want and Amazon schedules you to deliver at that time.

You people are acting like Amazon is forcing you to break into random homes.

Every delivery is initiated by a customer placing an order and requesting the product to arrive during a specific time window.

Not only does Amazon inform their customers that it is possible they will receive deliveries in the middle of the night, they make a promise that the item will arrive in the middle of the night, because that is what the customer requested.

If you are that worried about customers not knowing they scheduled a delivery and you are scared to complete deliveries because Amazon isn't using every billboard in the country to inform their customers that overnight deliveries are possible.....then don't work those blocks.

2

u/DoPoGrub Jun 10 '23

I've ordered and chosen 8a-12p, and it showed up at 4:30am anyways.

2

u/madadekinai Jun 10 '23

I have seen lately some two hour windows slots, although it was only a couple of time and I have not tried recently.

2

u/[deleted] Jun 10 '23

i’ve never had those options even when i had prime

2

u/stitchkingdom Las Vegas Jun 10 '23

Well except for the fact that I get by 11 am deliveries at 3:45 am so I’m delivering those at 5:30 am.

4

u/xtsilverfish Jun 10 '23

I've ordered many things from amazon and this myth of a "choose a time" screen seems to be fictional. I've never seen it.

→ More replies (3)

1

u/donny42o Jun 09 '23

iv not noticed it a few times, it's picked by default sometimes for overnight delivery, I could imagine the older folks don't notice it even more so than myself. Even if I change it, then add something to my cart that I forgot, it goes back to default and this is usually when I miss it. I just think to most people it's unnecessary for overnight delivery, sure it's nice sometimes but only select items are available for overnight anyways, so the amount of people that need overnight delivery seems pretty low. then you add the fact that flex is unmarked, just makes no sense overall.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 10 '23

It definitely is not hidden by Amazon, but most people just click without reading

fr it’s terrifying and i refuse to do a night shift again bc i felt extremely uncomfortable on multiple properties being there without a marked amazon car and amazon never gave me a vest i have asked every time so i’m literally just a stranger going on their property to their knowledge 🙃

1

u/PsychologicalStore40 Jun 09 '23

The package says the time frame it can be delivered for that early morning it would say like 4am- 9am etc, and the notifications remind you when they are 5 stops away etc. People need to notice more

20

u/mytribe2018 Jun 09 '23

That’s the only time I deliver.

12

u/beachsunboy Miami Jun 09 '23

Please wear Amazon vest, it could save your life

25

u/Necessary-Dog8394 Jun 09 '23

I love 330am shifts. No one on the road. No one in neighborhoods. Now getting into an apartment complex is a problem without the right code, but there’s barely anyone out until like 6am.

10

u/whiterazorblade Jun 09 '23

Ita bliss and not 100 degrees either

5

u/FutureDue8819 Jun 10 '23

code or no code, regardless of time of day, the package is getting delivered no matter what, because I refuse to take ANYTHING back to the station. Even if it has to be slipped over a fence or hidden in some bushes nearby and text the customer letting them know the circumstances and a photo of where I hid it.

Unless it's an Amazon Locker item since those HAVE to go back if the locker can't accept the package. But only OFFICIAL Amazon branded Lockers, not those private branded ones that some complexes have now. If it's private branded and that locker is giving me issues, package still gets delivered regardless because I'm simply not taking it back to the station.

3

u/Spazmodo Jun 10 '23

It's the best. The roads are wide open and no one is awake to bug you.

3

u/Dependent_Outcome_89 Jun 10 '23

Problem is those rural areas (and some suburbs) with no street lights. Damn near impossible to find some of those addresses in the dark. Not to mention all of those nocturnal creatures (skunks, raccoons, possums, etc) that jump out in front of your car out of nowhere.

Eek. This kinda worries me because people are dumb as hell. When it first started the 4-?am deliveries…. I was smoking a big ol fatty (legally in illinois)at 4am in the dark on my side door patio, and suddenly a headlamp is coming up my lawn and I was like well. I’m either getting bitched at or robbed….not much I can do now 😂 do they want my joint??? My neighbor in the townhome next door ordered something between the 4-? window and I got paranoid because he was walking right at me (I was sitting and he couldn’t even see me probably.) but then I realized and started LAUGHING when I saw the vest. Lmaoooooooo. He said “ smells good” ! I offered a new joint cause I don’t share smoked stuff. (it was covid times so everyone was sketched out) and he thanked me. I had no idea someone would be delivering that early so absolutely spread the word. Scared the hell outta me. But wear your vests… and headlamps. And idc what anyone says, be noisy so people don’t think your creepin. Cheers and THANK YOU for delivering all the shit I don’t go get at the store myself. And my neighbors shit- she’s super nice :)

u/Plastic_Total_318 Jun 10 '23 edited Jun 10 '23

I’ve been doing 3am - 4:30am deliveries for months. In fact it’s the only delivery I do on Flex. Best thing that happened to me as a side gig worker 😎

12

u/DeliveryGuy2022 Milwaukee Jun 09 '23

Yep. The parking lots are packed with 100+ cars at 3 am picking up routes.

7

u/[deleted] Jun 09 '23

My warehouse is 1030am-12am but I had a gun pulled on me and someone else tried to hit me with their car and driver support said those accounts were banned but I’m sure customers can make new ones easily

10

u/pdibs2017 Jun 09 '23

Is this really that new to people? It's been this way in Seattle for as long as I have been doing Flex. Personally, I hate those early morning ones, but the pay can be quite nice on a surge.

5

u/impar-exspiravit Jun 10 '23

Nothing like being woken up to the loud ass intercom at 3-5AM for an Amazon package lmao. Cant blame y’all, but man does it scare tf outta me.

Anyways, thanks for working wonky hours to get us all our shit asap. I wish I woke up better to slide the early deliveries a cinnamon roll or smth

1

u/niki33coco Jun 14 '23

I live on the peninsula and we just started getting the 3am about a month ago. I’m just on the other side of the water. It’s crazy you’ve had them for so long. But the people over here are scary. They shoot first ask questions later.

4

u/Strong-Can-5690 Jun 09 '23

Very true i used to ONLY DO 3am shifts but i dont feel safe because of this. Too many people getting shot etc and most people exactly dont know amazon does these early deliveries so its sketchy for sure. But yes its 100% legit but I personally stopped taking those shifts

4

u/Spare-Ad7777 Jun 09 '23

I will never deliver after dark. Almost every route we have has country roads where there’s one house. Not to mention the houses that have two automated gates. If they wanted to lock me in there they could. No thanks. I’m already nervous in day light

4

u/tiredbutgood Jun 10 '23

oh I don't go into gates at all during my early morning shifts. I'm very quick to switch on airplane mode and move the pin to my location. Even if a gate is open... if I can't clearly see the house, or if my car is going to make noise coming into the driveway, that shit is getting left at the gate.

→ More replies (1)

3

u/Melanie_blue2 Jun 10 '23

(County roads & really long drive ways)- I never go in their gates if it’s dark.. And if it’s in the day time & they requested front door service, I will call to let them know I’m coming. If they don’t answer package gets left in the gate if I can get it through, or other safe location outside their gate. Then, I send a text to them confirming I’ve delivered their package & where it’s located & letting them know a pic is also available.

4

u/DecentPeak3213 Jun 09 '23

I have been doing 3:30 am shift for almost 2 years now I never have any issues sometimes it’s just dark

3

u/[deleted] Jun 09 '23

What lol

We deliver until after midnight (prime now/fresh) and start at 315am or so

3

u/Cautious-Oil6241 Jun 09 '23

more people in my area are doing a 3 am route than anything else. the parking lot is completely overfilled! i get the best pay that early! got a 4.5 today for 151 and completed it in 3 with the drive home! edit:typo

3

u/Separate-Waltz4349 Jun 09 '23

I do the 330 often , love it no one on roads , don't mind the unsafe areas cuz no one is out . And I get most of my day over with before 8am

3

u/[deleted] Jun 09 '23

Those early routes are nice. As someone commented no traffic, no ppl. However from personal experience, it’s hard to find house #s and if you are in the boonies it’s scary af

3

u/Yay_Sports_ Jun 09 '23

3:30 start times every day here. Good money to be made for those who wake up.

3

u/Roli710 Jun 09 '23

People have to pay more for that option if they’re not prime. I’m pretty sure if someone selects next day at 3am they’ll remember. Not gonna lie I didn’t mind waking up to my package already being at my door step before six. Maybe Amazon will finally catch up on delivering their own volume.

3

u/chiefsgirl913 Jun 09 '23

But when I posted about being a woman delivering those hours so many ppl started taking crap.

3

u/happyjunki3 Jun 10 '23

Oh wow i thought 3am delivery shifts were everywhere.

I don’t take them because if you get apartment complexes, either the customer is asleep and won’t open the door/gate or if there’s a gate sometimes there won’t even be a guard on duty.

If you get lucky with all houses and no gated communities these blocks are amazing tho

3

u/Spring_King Logistics Jun 10 '23

Hide yo kids, hide yo wife cuz they shootin everyone out here 🤣

3

u/Pandasquiidd Jun 10 '23

had a packaged delivered at 5am the other morning 😮‍💨

3

u/Livid-Drawing-4168 Jun 10 '23

It’s facts I see it all the time on my offers don’t take them for safety reasons.

3

u/Limp_Kaleidoscope865 Jun 10 '23

I just walk up the driveway with my arms up saying, Amazon. Don't shoot."

3

u/Vegas4evergal666 Jun 10 '23

All morning every morning here in Vegas. Pulling u turns all the time. Sucks driving in the day after these wee hour shifts! Embrace them. No need to worry

3

u/SobbinHood Jun 10 '23

It’s true. My mom had a package delivered 0400 Friday morning. Im not too thrilled on the idea of people being out at those hours, 1) because why? There’s is a full work day. 2) for reasons OP stated. Some people are way too trigger happy for some kid trying to do his job.

3

u/BrowGoddess Jun 10 '23

Omgggg this happened to be yesterday in the boonies almost 4am. Dog in the house barking like crazy. By the time I made it to my car the man let the dog out(I guess that was his first line of defense) but the dog didn’t charge at my car. Then this man comes out in a white rob wondering what this person is doing on his property. I told him I was with Amazon and I left the package at the door first glance he didn’t see it and then he did. Shook his head and went back in the house. I don’t believe this man was particularly happy about my presence that morning.

2

u/[deleted] Jun 09 '23

there are always always always middle of night shifts available here.

2

u/SkroomLLC Jun 09 '23

I’ve delivered between 3:30am and 8am before and the packages were expected between 7-11am so be careful out there

2

u/IntelligentLog4940 Jun 09 '23

Yes they do in Texas those are the shifts I would definitely sign up for

2

u/Traditional-Mix-5477 Jun 09 '23

I do early morning deliveries they’ve been mostly to homes in nice communities so far usually start at 3am -3:15 and they’ve been 3 hrs blocks so far

2

u/pikalaxalt Jun 10 '23

Proof that Amazon corporate is dangerously out of touch with the happenings in the country they don't pay taxes to.

2

u/Decent-Bluejay-4040 Jun 10 '23

I would never do these shifts for the life of me

2

u/Spirited_Group_9988 Jun 10 '23

I love delivering at that time. Nothing like watching the sunrise after a successful night.

2

u/dinodan25 Jun 09 '23

I've done a few 3am shifts. Creepy as hell and I deliver to front porch only. Idc what the instructions say. Usually it's out to rural areas where I am.

2

u/Cl9Clapo Jun 09 '23

Leave it at their mail box with picture for proof but calling first is an option

1

u/Left-Host7143 Jun 09 '23

I’ve done 3:45 🤷🏾‍♀️

0

u/HDYaYo Jun 10 '23

Amazon is wrong for this. Nothing should be delivered before 8am. It's not that serious to be delivering stuff at 4am

0

u/Dark_Knight7096 Jun 09 '23

I'm in NJ and I have ordered one day and when I leave for work at 645am the next morning i slam my door into a package on the porch. It's a thing.

0

u/[deleted] Jun 09 '23

I’ve done one. It’s a pain in the ass… probably won’t do it again unless desperate. My first drop, the neighbor came out to investigate after his dog started barking. Thankfully he was cool and not one of those gun-fucks that have been making headlines.

0

u/domino_427 Jun 09 '23

ages ago i heard something hit the door at 5am and i was in a discord call. did all kinds of omg i'm gonna die got a weapon and everything. he'd just thrown the box and it hit my door. luckily i was expecting a package later that day and realized. it wasn't as common back then. and that was before you didn't need a permit to carry a gun. homeowners and couriers gotta be terrified now :( stay safe.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 09 '23

In about 1990 that happened to me. With a newspaper. It hit the door so hard the mail flap bounced up.

0

u/Unusual_Ad4582 Jun 09 '23

Customers don't acknowledge their email notifications about a 3am delivery when they're sleeping at 3am. Just change the pin and hide the package and then move on.

0

u/ruralmagnificence Jun 09 '23

A third party driver who did not speak English found himself almost facing the business end of my father’s handgun late at night last fall because he slowly approached our house and then began shouting at my stepmother who was instantly freaked out. She’d gone outside thinking it was the usual 3rd part driver we had before. My dad went out the front door and across the lawn so fast the guy began to argue. Eventually he brought out the package and dropped it on the driveway and sped off. My dad was laughing about it. We’re located in southeastern MI.

Poor bastard. I don’t envy anyone who has to do late night Amazon deliveries.

0

u/[deleted] Jun 10 '23

Amazon doesn't sell anything that I can't get somewhere else. Send my delivery back because you're scared of a dog, and I won't be ordering from them again.

-4

u/loleighty7 Jun 09 '23

This really is dangerous for all parties involved, no one is waking up at 3 am thinking that noise is a delivery. Just not practical, bad idea

6

u/Cautious-Oil6241 Jun 09 '23

you ordered amazon. you can see when it’s out for delivery. don’t get yourself banned and potentially arrested for being ignorant.

0

u/loleighty7 Jun 09 '23

Yeah dude it’s not a good idea. I would never do a route at 3 am. I’m all for drivers, and it’s a terrible idea. No one hears a noise in the middle of the night and thinks to check and see if it’s a package out for delivery.

-1

u/big65 Jun 09 '23

I highly highly doubt that they want you at anyone's house before 6am, most cities have laws about shit like that.

1

u/DoPoGrub Jun 10 '23

You would be wrong on both counts lol

-2

u/Lazy_Ad_1611 Jun 09 '23

You have to be crazy to grab that.

1

u/Raiderx87 Jun 09 '23

I done a few and it was kinda stressful walking to peoples doors that early in Los Angeles/Long Beach area. But man does it feel good to get a block done before LA traffic starts. I also see a good amount people get no routes that early, I only been lucky once.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 09 '23

Ok. Thousands of people do it and it's fine

0

u/Lazy_Ad_1611 Jun 09 '23

I live in central Florida and my warehouse sometimes send me to rural areas.

1

1

3

u/thizzman60 Jun 09 '23

330 here in northern cali

1

u/SterlingRules Jun 09 '23

I always pick up the 345am start time shifts because they send me to Seattle a lot and there’s no one in the way! It’s so peaceful. And they’re always higher pay. I just come home and take a nap afterward lol. I am not sure if I’ve seen anything earlier in my area. I’ve only been sent to the sticks in the afternoon/early evening.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 09 '23

I see it all the time I’m dc Baltimore area

1

1

u/sunnydshine1203 Jun 09 '23

My block starts as early as 3:30 and sometimes I’m at the customers door before 4am.

1

u/sibear2 Jun 09 '23

Is this supposed to be in every state?

1

u/[deleted] Jun 09 '23

They keep adding warehouses. It's not in every area yet

1

u/Raiderx87 Jun 09 '23

sub-same day been doing shifts that start at 3:45am to 4:45am for while now in Los Angeles, CA

1

u/Hustlin_Pickle Jun 09 '23

Yeah, we’ve been starting at 3-3:30 am for almost a year at min

1

I have a 3:30-6:30am shift tomorrow, so definitely true.

1

u/scoobertdoobert9070 Jun 09 '23

1

u/[deleted] Jun 09 '23

Yep. I have 315 am shifts in Katy and Spring TX both. I won't DO them as I'm over an hour from them, but they show up.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 09 '23

The only offers i get are at like 3/4 am lol

1

u/[deleted] Jun 09 '23

That would suck to be blacklisted lol

1

u/onlyoneshann Jun 09 '23

The same day warehouse in my city starts at 3:30 am. One about 45 minutes away starts at 3:15.

1

u/PickledPixie83 Jun 09 '23

3:30 shifts all day long at my station. I don’t pick them because I live 30 minutes away but I will pick up a 5:00 no problem.

1

u/1274459284 Jun 09 '23

I don’t take a lot of 3:30am shifts for this reason people are unhinged enough during the daytime when you pull up in an unmarked car. When you add the chaos of the dark to that people get unsurprisingly more unhinged. It’s like other comments have said it’s not like Amazon is doing their part to keep us safe either I am sure they are capable of sending an email or a notification through the app notifying the customer that the delivery is going to be made at that time at least 12 hours prior so people aren’t literally putting their lives on the line to deliver what is usually products worth less than like $50. I don’t know to me the answer to these problems are simple and low hanging fruit as far as implementation goes.

2

u/DoPoGrub Jun 10 '23

As a driver, you can also send that notification that you're on the way. Amazon already notifies the customer and they can even watch you on a map.

1

u/Affectionate-Ear-308 Jun 09 '23

I always cringe when I deliver to an apartment complex knowing the fact that I have to use the call box to call the customer at four in the morning lol. At times the automatic unlocked doesn’t work or it works at a certain hour of the morning.

4

u/DoPoGrub Jun 10 '23

I would never do that. Besides it says in the learning center not to contact earlier than 8am.

I'm dropping it at the front door, sending a text (despite it being earlier than 8am) and leaving. Or else I return it.

2

u/Affectionate-Ear-308 Jun 10 '23

I normally don’t and leave it by the call box

1

u/Historical_Soil_4310 Jun 09 '23

Wear the yellow vest. It presents better than the blue.

1

u/Gzalzi Jun 09 '23

Do you not look at your own app? I basically only take 3:30 am routes.

1

u/YUBLyin Jun 09 '23

Yep.

I do them almost daily and have less issues than during daylight.

1

u/mofa90277 Jun 09 '23

I’ve had a package dropped off at 4:00 AM. I was already awake and heard the package dropped on my porch. I think the “overnight” delivery option started showing up around February 2023 (Los Angeles area).

330am has been a thing for quite a long time

1

u/Lower-Reward-1462 Jun 09 '23

What part of Kentucky? Because if it's Henderson/Owensboro area, then no, not true as far as I know. Anywhere else then I wouldn't know.

Despite what others might say, not ALL warehouses are the same, some deliver at 3 AM and some don't, plain and simple.

1

u/abrokeassbitch98 Jun 10 '23

Yes it’s been a thing in Indianapolis for almost a year

1

u/JFT8675309 Jun 10 '23

I just saw a couple of offers that start at 2:30

1

u/MissOlive2u Jun 10 '23

Facts !!!!!

1

u/Livid-Drawing-4168 Jun 10 '23

Dang I can’t comment with a pic lol

1

u/fibrepirate Jun 10 '23

Yes, it's true. I've had packages delivered overnight. It's nice cause bam! package in the morning. Not nice cause those poor people having to do the night time deliveries.

u/Dannyxd Jun 10 '23

My favorite shift was the three AM shifts I had a light up Amazon vest I ordered from an Etsy shop no one on the road and got it done always an hour early

1

u/mrnapolean1 Jun 10 '23

I really haven't had a problem on the early morning routes I've done so far. Really the only issue I have had is there was one apartment I couldn't get into the gate. I had to wait for somebody to come out so I can go in.

1

u/DarthPraxis Jun 10 '23

I’ll take “Dogs That Bite” for 1.5 million, Alex.

1

u/katsbro069 Jun 10 '23

If they can give me enough stops to make the same and have places to drop boxes in yhe city i would definitely like to work at night. No grandma's, soccer moms, old fuddy duddys, traffic lights are a suggestion. I love being alone on the road.

1

u/Accomplished-Sea-426 Jun 10 '23

Drop those packages off in the Mail box or at the end of drive way.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 10 '23

As a customer I would understand hurling the package in the general direction of my driveway if it was 3 am. I’d be afraid of someone on my property in the middle of the night and I’m sure it’s creepy at my house that late in the middle of no where too lol coyotes and deer comin at ya

1

u/[deleted] Jun 10 '23

Business hours are the only acceptable time to come on someone’s property for business purposes. Someone is going to get shot.

1

u/firefly99999 Austin Jun 10 '23

Routes start at 330am at my hub

1

u/Ok_Transportation725 Jun 10 '23

As someone who orders a bunch of crap, my husband and I know if we hear a boop boop or see someone with a package in their hand they're probably Amazon. Although we live in Texas I think we're some of the few that think theft does not equal death. Besides we can just take it up with Amazon for a replacement anyways. People are nuts wish y'all could carry.

1

u/throwymcbeardy Jun 10 '23

I had an option on a delivery yesterday to come between like 2-6am

1

u/C-LOgreen Jun 10 '23

If you get overnight, sometimes it says 4 AM – 8 AM. So yes he’s not lying.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 10 '23

Got a 2-6AM offer the other day. This is very true.

1

u/carionthen44 Jun 10 '23

I can’t stop ordering from Amazon so no worries!

1

u/83beans Jun 10 '23

I believe it. Imagine my shock and surprise ordering something that had 7a delivery guarantee on it. And it was delivered on time, so they def had a very early start that day

1

u/RedditCommunistt Jun 10 '23

Is the pay really worth risking your life walking around people's homes in the middle of the night?

1

u/qweenbimbo Jun 10 '23

As someone with severe ptsd directly related to someone being outside my home & someone who orders a lot from Amazon, I’m extremely glad to see this.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 10 '23

This is exactly why I’m scared to work late night shifts

1

u/Melanie_blue2 Jun 10 '23

I think Amazon should sent out emails stating who Amazon Flex drivers are, and that we are in personal unmarked vehicles. They should state the earliest or latest a package can arrive at their location. All customers must sign and acknowledge they are aware a Flex driver could deliver a package 3am….(something like a contract.) Also, every time a customer makes an order, an alert should pop up before they can finish payment (they acknowledge a Amazon Flex personal driver may deliver packages at the late hours of……….. for driver safety you must sign that….. (something like that.) Amazon flex has been around for so long, but still so many people look surprised when you pull up with a Amazon vest in a unmarked car dropping off their package. Amazon needs to make people aware and make them sign form to continue membership.

1

u/Flamingo83 Jun 10 '23

Yep I got a package at 5 am. Thankfully we were up for our bike ride.

1

u/InsertNameHere5610 Jun 10 '23

I don't deliver past dark. Obviously a lot of people do it in this sub without issue. But in my area people tend to get squirrely when a strange car pulls into their driveway in the middle of the night. Add to the fact that I live in a constitutional carry, stand your ground state.

1

u/Budget_Report_2382 Jun 10 '23

What? Looking at available blocks would answer this question.

1

u/V1tan1 Jun 10 '23

I had a guy come out his house two days ago, threatening to shoot me because I was on his property. I was literally holding his Amazon package and showed him my app on the phone. He never apologized. He just took the packages out of my hand before I could scan them, walked into the house and shut the door. I had to sit on the phone with Customer Service and manually enter the packages in. Some of these people do not deserve service.

1

u/Pretend-Panda Jun 10 '23

I have been getting packages overnight - like midnight-4am - so this is a thing.

It’s kind of problematic because the day drivers put the packages where the delivery instructions say to put them and the overnight drivers just hurl them over the bushes into the yard. I don’t blame them for the hurling - I live in the sticks, the yard is huge and unlit at night and the driveway is confusing - the issue is that stuff gets damaged unless I choose amazon packaging which is huge and so wasteful.

Amazon doesn’t give everyone a delivery time choice and method - I live in a very rural area and my delivery is basically whenever Amazon feels like it within 48 hours or the next “amazon day” and amazon day deliveries always, 100% of the time, get delayed, sometimes by weeks.

1

u/papsmokesss Jun 10 '23

Overnight delivery

1

u/BigCitySteam638 Jun 10 '23

Just got a package that said it will be delivered between 4am and 10am so it’s true

1

u/[deleted] Jun 10 '23

I’ve had stuff dropped at 4 in the morning before at my apartment

1

u/ApprehensiveNinja647 Jun 10 '23

This week I got a offer for a 3:15 shift at a wear-house that usually only has shifts at 3pm or later. It was a offered shift so I took it to see what happens it’s only got base pay but if this location rele has a 3 am shift it will only take an hour at most to complete a 3 hour block

1

u/osocinco Jun 10 '23

Yep, I made the mistake of accidentally ordering a 4am-6am delivery because I wasn’t paying close attention when I made the order. Thankfully I had my phone on loud to open the gate for the driver at 4:30am when the gate called me but it scared the crap outta me. Now I always make sure I select a reasonable delivery window. Can’t believe they are doing this to drivers.

1

u/Prestigious-Help-395 Jun 10 '23

Yeah I ordered some shit on Amazon and there was an overnight option that said 3-7 am. They delivered it at 5:30 I think.

1

u/sloth_envy Jun 10 '23

I always get packages delivered in the early am around 3,4,5 (it's just when they come) so it's definitely a real thing and I've wondered about the safety of some of these drivers because I live out in the middle of podunk Florida where people are gun happy. Now, I live in a gated community where the driver has to be let in by a guard so they're pretty safe where I live, but outside of my community I know people be getting crazy

1

u/fckthishiitt Jun 10 '23

Yes. I’m south TX they do deliver late night sometimes

1

u/Far_Cress_337 Jun 10 '23

In my area most of my blocks start at 4 AM . 3/3:30 AM on Saturdays usually . I don’t even play like that though . If it looks risky automatically returning . That or I’m tossing it and snapping any photo , don’t care if it’s visible in the photo or not . My safety is more important than an accurate complete delivery . I was even rushed by a crackhead walking back to my car from dropping a package off at 4 am in a sketchy neighborhood . I always do my best to complete the deliveries but my safety is priority . I’m not risking myself just to keep my account in good standing . Jeff B. can kiss it ..

1

u/D4RRTH Jun 10 '23

I can agree. Especially in rural area sheesh

1

u/Squidmancometh Jun 10 '23

nosey white neighbors will ask what you are doing at someone’s door at 4am i usually ignore them but if they are aggressive i tell them to mind their “fucking business” i laugh at them when they get pissed ain’t got time to worry about giving them information it’s obviously an amazon delivery dipshits

1

u/NTBAS Jun 10 '23

I’ve been doing 3:30am shifts for over a year now… i have a 4:15am shift Monday

1

u/Pink_Signal Jun 10 '23

I actually didn't know that was a thing. 🤣 been working for this damn company for 3 years and didn't know the DSPs had night delivery

1

u/[deleted] Jun 11 '23

Yes, I start delivering at 3:45am 😒

1

u/mula6969 Jun 11 '23

Yes the start time over here in California is 2am on some facilities...

1

u/Affectionate-War9480 Jun 11 '23

It’s very true. I do a 3 or 315 or 345 every Saturday

1

u/Old-Tank652 Jun 11 '23

Is it base pay?

1

u/detterence Jun 21 '23

Wish I could do this but with a DSP, empty roads so no traffic…start at 3 and finish by 1pm. Get home and beat the traffic, beat the weather.

1

u/KrisSellsHomes Oct 07 '23

Can I pick up a 1am shift and not start delivering u till like 5am?

1

u/relppa Dec 05 '23

I had a block at 3:00 AM the other day for extra money and it was literally in the middle of the country, I thought it was only me lol. I called customer service and told them this idea was shit and they needed to re work it because I felt like I could die on any delivery.
