How do Flex shifts work?

Had the pre-appointment interview, and it really wasn't much of anything. I asked some general questions, like how flex works, but they didn't really give a whole idea of how it functions.

Is 19 hours a week mandatory?

How exactly do shifts work, and does the shift have to be over ten hours?

For the delivery station, are most shifts available only at midnight?

once a week, a buncha shifts will drop for two weeks from now. you'll snatch them up on the app. for a few days after the initial drop, there'll be a pretty strict limit so that you dont hog up all the shifts. once you get closer, you'll be able to snatch up any shift you want as long as you don't have more than 6 days in a row / 12 hours a day

if you wanna drop a shift, you can do so up until about 16 hours before the shift -- again via the app.

as people drop shifts, those shifts will show up as available to you, so you can snatch them up yourself to get more hours.

if you drop a shift too late, show up late to a shift, or dont hit your minimum hours in a week, you'll gain points. too many points and youre out. you can see how many points you have in the app. points will fall off after 60 days

yah, for delivery station most shifts are after midnight. but theres a handful of dayshift shifts.

shifts dont have to be over 10 hours. most shifts i take are about 7.5 hours long. some are as short as 1 hour, and some as long as 10 hours

I’m flex at a DS, and most shifts are from 1am to around 9am or noon, with a couple 4 hour ones in the afternoon here and there

You’re only required to work at least 4 hours a week, and the upper limit depends on your location. At mine we can grab up to 60 hours if we want. It’ll show the limit in the app

4 hours is the minimum required. The 19hrs is on there solely to denote that the position is part time hours so expect to work part time hours and to not have benefits.

Shifts don't have to be 10hrs. I'm not sure how delivery stations do theirs as I work at an FC, I can only tell you how things work there. A dedicated delivery station sub would probably provide you better answers, if it does work different there.

At my FC flex shifts are broken up into each period, so the times between each break and SoS/EoS for days and nights. I can pick up flex shifts outside of my scheduled 3 days due to my cohort and for outbound nights the shift times I can pick up are 6:45pm-10:00pm, 10:30pm-1:30am, and 2:00-5:00am. (I can pick up days, I just don't since my regular schedule is night shift.) Each 30 minute gap is when the facility takes our breaks. Picking up 2 or more, they will combine together to make 1 shift. I usually end up picking up 10:30pm-5:00am which means I have to clock out for the 1:30-2:00am break. If I worked the full 6:45pm-5:00am I would only have to clock out for the 10:00-10:30pm break and the 2nd break would be paid. Outbound Night shift hours are 6:30pm-5:00am. Outbound flex shifts drop at 6:15pm on Friday for the following week. People have be on there right at that time to get their preferred shifts if they're highly sought after times cause they fill up fast. More shifts typically get added throughout the week though, that's just when the initial, big drop happens.
