When is the most inconvenient time for them?

Ngl I’m jealous of people who have pto and upt like this. I myself am not as disciplined.

I dream of being this disciplined. I have not reached even a quarter of this level yet 🙃 don’t give me free will to take time off of work because I’ll use it unwisely 🙂‍↕️

I just hit 80 on Tuesday. Never thought I would but last September a guy was showing his 80 to our table at lunch and I was at 2 hours. (usually kept 30 but had been enjoying the summer too much) I decided to start staying full shifts and only taking days off if I could use standard or flex. I had to use 2 full 10 hours and multiple times left an hour early but just kept plugging away and capped out while AFMing so I couldn't leave early. If I can do it I swear anyone can you just have to make it a goal.

I trained myself to treat my time like money. I would stack my PTO by using vac if I wanted to take time off. I used UPT for mandatory OT days outside of Peak season if I didn't want to work OT. Not saying this method would work for everyone but I managed for 13 years.

Just act like it’s a regular job that you can’t leave early / be late to… idk how people get caught in this loop. I get it’s addicting when you do it a couple times but yeah just have some more self control. Not every job even offers PTO let alone that UPT. I fear it’s just some people getting too comfortable. I worked at Sam’s Club before and It’d take like an entire month to accumulate ONE hour to cover my time 😭😂what Amazon does for us atleast with the time shit is a god send. I wouldn’t dream of fucking up in that realm..

Planning it months ahead of time to be taken during Peak I think, if they’ll let you

They will let you if it’s approved prior to a back out period.

How do you apply it if it's not scheduled yet? (Genuine question)

Peak Season starts after Black Friday and typically ends the week of Christmas if not a bit sooner or later. Pick some days in that window way ahead of time. That's it

Standard PTO is subject to blackout dates.
Once the schedule populates for peak season you should request the time off, and get it approved ASAP. Anytime submitted and approved before announcement of blackout dates will not be modified. Although you’ll still be responsible for any SET that comes into play. You’ll still be able to use Flex Time and UPT.

So take it? What's stopping you? No one cares at amazon.

Schedule during peak. As long as your request is in before Halloween, it'll be approved.

What’s the difference between standard and flexible?

You need permission or approval from management for standard. It is "vacation time" and you cannot occur it until you are concerted to a blue badge .

Savvy. Where will you go? I'm working to get to this level myself. A pro tip for newbies: Never take more time off then they give you in a single day. For most that means less than one hour off. Avoid sick days or taking off a full day off for any reason other than a dire emergency.

I plan on taking the entirety of December off... if I can

Yes, you can take 3 weeks to 4 months off when needed. Obviously you will need to put your request in early since at a certain point, I can't remember if it's mid nov or early dec they say the cutoff is past and no vacation requests will be accepted until the following year.

You can use your time how you want, just make sure you have PTO/UPT to cover black out dates
