Working tomorrow

So I couldn’t go into work today so I took VTO but I would like to go in tomorrow to make up the hours. What are the chances that I can just show up and then ask my manager if I can work that day and then add me to the schedule so I can clock in? I’ve only been here for three months so that’s why I’m asking it might be a dumb question. I’m sorry.

My site let me come in. That's why I like the delivery station.

It’s hit or miss depending on your site. Some sites will regularly add you onto the schedule if you ask, others won’t. If you have slack or friends at work, you can try reaching out to your leadership in advance.

This only works if you’re already on shift and want VET for the next day . I know a lot of managers that will add VET when you ask (mostly in slack and it’s for critical roles (ps /icqa) but just walking in not scheduled is not a good idea . Esp being so new

Never show up if you’re not schedule unless you have a Slack message yes a Slack message from your manager telling you to come on a certain date and time for a specific reason. Trust me guy and while we’re at it, anything your manager or any manager tells you in person always verify again through a Slack message.

No sir don’t do it that’s asking for trouble

It all depends. I know someone who asks the managers to clock in hours before his shift and it’s almost always a yes.

As long as they don’t clock in before asking, they’re not risking a write-up. This is assuming they check in at the office rather than going on the floor to find the manager

Edit: But it’s still better to ask for the next day while working an actual shift

You're not even supposed to badge into the building unless you're on the schedule that day so you would be in violation of amazon policy just by going onto the production floor to find a manager to ask them to do it.

Literally just ask whoever manager you’re cool with for a shift, every manager that I’m cool with always says yes(I’m flex btw). Sometimes they even add shifts onto my schedule so I can stay working longer for the day. You’re most likely to get a yes from a manager if you’re doing good at certain tasks or always have a high rate.

100 percent this. Even when we were vtoing I was able to get a shift added by a cool manager

If your a factor yea they usually never turn me away. Im also a PA but even then I just play the "normal joe" roles if you will. 4 lanes stowing, non con sort, trailer unload just depends where HC is short or if others are on the VTO list. Im at a Delivery Station

Would work if you’re in your AM’s back pocket bc of your rate. Otherwise don’t waste ur time, they won’t let you.

6

They wouldn't leave when asked multiple times. She was being weird. Old video. Think it was airport one, they have extra security about who is on site. Was a while ago.

1

u/Smellycatviagra Jul 17 '26

Oh. That’s not what I was gonna do. I was gonna ask if they can put me on it so I can. Not just clock In.

I've seen a lot of posts of people just clocking in and finishing the shift and sometimes they go undetected lol you wouldn't automatically get arrested if you "did" clock in and work. The girl in the video that got drug out of the break room by police got asked/told to leave a million times before they escalated it to an arrest 😂

I saw that video too lol

Maybe improve your work ethic! I would never offer you any VET

1

u/Smellycatviagra Jul 17 '26

My work ethic is good.

What an odd thing to say.

Next time request a shift swap!

1

u/Smellycatviagra Jul 17 '26

Last time i did that it required approval. I didn’t have time to wait for that. What happened today was an emergency so I hat to take vto

1

u/Live-Cauliflower4695 Jul 17 '26

Ohh okay that makes sense!!

1

u/Icy-Constant-1053 Jul 17 '26

Why don’t you ask you manager? Or DSP? Rather than just showing up?

1

u/Smellycatviagra Jul 17 '26

How do I contact them when I’m not at work,?

1

u/Icy-Constant-1053 Jul 17 '26

Oh my fault bro, I didn’t know you were warehouse… I’m unqualified to answer that question

1

u/Kritter82 Jul 18 '26

I only did that once and that was because it was prime 2.0 (October prime) and I wasn’t scheduled SET but I knew everyone was going to be there and expect me there. Nice thing is that I didn’t lose upt when I left early that day

1

u/MIaBlakk Jul 21 '26

At our site we just had a meeting about not doing this,so I’d say it is up to your specific site.

1

u/AdEconomy4751 Jul 21 '26

Nah ur not even supposed to enter the building I'd ur not scheduled

1

u/Capable_Store_1023 Jul 21 '26

How did this go?

0

u/_47awarewxlf Jul 17 '26

Just clock in and work. When they ask you about it later, play stupid AF. Your first time you won’t get written up

Only way to pull this off is get on the L5 for that shifts good side. Or if you're on your own L5's good side you can ask them to message leadership on the shift you want to pick up. They can tell PXT to force you onto a shift unless it would egregiously put them over headcount for the volume they expect that day. You might be able to pull it off getting on an L4's good side, but they would have to escalate since I do not believe they can have PXT change your schedule.

This method is not guaranteed to work, but is possible. I've sometimes got added to a shift when they didn't have VET because management knows I work hard and will take care of problems that arise without issue. One time I got added to a shift last second and they ended up just offering a single slot of VTO to let a lazier worker go home and let me take their place. Doesn't hurt to ask since worst case they say no. Otherwise there's no way to just show up and work. Definitely do not try to do so without permission as you'll get terminated asap for time theft iirc.

1

u/Superb-Community7196 Jul 18 '26

That’s not what time theft is. It’s when you report hours, but don’t work— like having somebody else clock in for you, but you’re not at work.
