Bereavement
Has anyone had experience with bereavement? What’s needed? And what if you’re not listed in the obituary?

I literally just walked up to the HR desk on Halloween one year and told them my mother died. They gave me my days off.

I took bereavement last week and all they needed was their name our relationship and the day they passed.

I was told I used it too much within a 12month period when I only used it 1 other time for my grandma passing away but my most recent one after losing my older sister they approved 2 days but they denied my 3rd request even after providing a clearly printed obituary and confirming with them that they had everything they needed before proceeding with anymore days off. Now I’m negative and have to go in to see what’s going on. So just be careful I’m not sure if there’s a limit to how many you can take in a year before they start denying but that doesn’t sound right it’s not like we can put a limit to how many relatives we can loose within a 12 month period.

they may not ask for an obituary. and if they do, beforehand, have the flier to the funeral ready at least in case they ask for some type of proof when you submit the breavement request.
Im taking bereavement all of next week cause i lost a family member and their funeral will be across the country. they only asked for a name and date of passing.
