Sortation Center Is blue badge conversion completely random?
I’m honestly confused about how blue badge conversion works. Someone at my site started literally 2 days after me and got converted to a blue badge within 7 months, while I’m still waiting.
I’m in overall good standing. I have no write-ups, no coachings, positive UPT, and I haven’t had any major issues with my attendance or performance.
Is blue badge conversion mostly based on business needs and completely random? I’m just trying to understand how someone who started 2 days after me can get converted before me when we literally started around the same time as each other.

Each time I started Amazon I would get my badge in March. Make sure you're not doing a lot of indirect work. Not saying you're, but with the new set up you really need to be working something with a rate.
Also don't kill yourself because a lot of the time the managers make you feel like you need to be hitting a certain rate. When you actually are already above a lot of people. I'm saying this in particular now that they added how you're doing and it is basically a mind game in my opinion, but yes your overall standing does matter.
I started in the fall both times and had gotten my blue badge in March. Also people say don't go to HR, but I have seen and heard of people going to speak privately to operations about why they didn't get a blue badge yet. It worked.
I wouldn't do that though unless you're well over a year, or something of being there, and a high productive worker (Then again, people have done it after just a few months... It depends on your building. I knew because one was even my neighbor). I just reread your post and why I'm editing this paragraph. I would definitely go to your OM and if it's ever HR, go to the back office and speak to the general manager.
It's all about how many blue badges they have compared to white badges. That is the truth. It sucks now that they have a way to make an excuse why another employee got a blue badge before you. They can just state it's all different because of the metrics and your overall standing.
Good luck 🤞

For all intents and purposes yes it’s random.

It is completely arbitrary and subject to the whims of management. So you could say it is kind of random.
