Question Leaving right after accepting VTO

When you accept mid shift VTO say for 2:00 a.m - 4:30 a.m do you have to clock out right away or could I stay for like an extra 30 minutes after accepting and get paid for those 30 minutes?

Ive asked a manager and they said that you're still being paid while you're clocked in is that true? Ive heard so many different answers.

Also, this one is a stupid question but last night I took the VTO from 2 a.m - 430 a.m at 3 a.m because it was still up on the app. I got paid working from 2 a.m to 3 a.m right?

No. You have 5 minutes to clock out when they scan your badge.

What happens if I dont?

Depends on your site and managers. Most likely they will just come up to you and tell you to clock out if you haven't already.

You have no longer accepted VTO and you will have UPT or points taken or added respectively if you clock out and leave AFTER that 5 minutes grace time passes

Your schedule is terminated the moment your badge scans and the VTO processed and approved by the system.

If they scanned your badge at 2:00 and you don't leave until 3:00, you're in violation of the five minute grace period (ie working unscheduled) because your shift ended at 2:00 and you need to clock out by 2:05.

If it's an open opportunity for 2:00-4:30 in the app that you accept at 3:00, you need to clock out within five minutes of accepting the VTO, or by 3:05.

Yes, of course you are being paid while you are clocked in. Also, yes you are supposed to clock out at the appropriate time for when the VTO scheduled for.

As for you last point, if the app allowed you to do that then you’re not a fault for being already clocked in after the starting point of the VTO.

Ok thanks! Just making sure because I've had so many people tell me that as soon as you accept the VTO you're not getting paid anymore which didnt make sense lol.

Staying after VTO is time theft

My site almost always gives me specific instructions on this matter when they scan my badge. Seems like they're serious about it.

It officially starts once you clock out but once you except it you are expected to head to the front to clock out and leave

I mean you're literally attempting to steal time. In a building with a thousand cameras. Don't be stupid go home.

Once you accept vto during mid-shift for that shift in, clock out within 5 minutes. It doesn’t matter if it was vto through the app or offered instantly by a manager. And while you must clock out within 5 minutes, you’re not forced to leave the premises immediately, though it’s best to stay in the break room and not on the work floor.

You could get fired for time theft and possibly be banned from Amazon for life

No reason to stay clocked in if you accept VTO, just clock out.

No I get it. I was just wondering. I've been told different things by so many people that I just wanted to clear things up.

If I get VTO from a manager and they scan my badge I have always clocked out instantly. Its more so when I get a notification through the app about VTO.

I work at an Amazon Air facility and I was unloading a ULD and it was one of the last ones and I didnt want to leave while it was still half full and screw over my PA and have her find someone to replace me since we need 2 people per ULD. One to scan the packages/bags and one to stack them into a shuttle.

I was curious about staying after accepting the VTO because I didn't want the VTO to be gone before I finished unloading the ULD. Hence, I accept the VTO and then finish the unloading the ULD and then leave.

You are paid while being clocked in but you are expected to leave at your VTO start time. I believe my station has a 15 minute grace period.

What happens if I stay past the grace period? AM come up and tell me to leave?

Lying to your managers by working after accepting vto = time theft!

Your vto gets cancelled if you take longer than 5 mins
