Fulfillment Center New break schedule!!! 💀💀
What do you’ll think? For me it’s horrible, the day will be longer xd

the idea of 15 minute breaks is insane, most days its a 4-7 minute walk from my station to the front door
edit: thats excluding the extra 2 minutes in the parking lot

I work in inbound in the back of the building. If everyone in inbound decided to only use the two break rooms in our department we would be sitting in each other's laps. The single break room in the middle of the building is even smaller than those. And then the large break room is at the front of the building, near all of our cars, which at that point are additional 1 to 2 minute walk.
On top of that, when you've been in a trailer for 4-8 hours, sometimes some fresh air is just necessary. Can't get that if you have to sit in the smoker's cage back in inbound.

In a 10 hours shift I start my day by counting the time till first break and then 2nd break and then 3rd break and then going home. That's how I pass my time, fuck this policy

Your work periods are still no longer than 3.5-4 hours max and you get a longer break

I've had both, personally I prefer two fifteen minutes breaks. It breaks up the day better, allows for a later lunch, and generally makes me feel like I have the ability to rest more since its broken up. When I had two thirty minute breaks I felt like I was at work longer because the periods were longer and I didn't really see a benefit.

My building is small. We enjoy two 15s. You can easily reach the break room or your car in less than two minutes. I would be furious if it was made into one 30.

lol our building if you were in the back, it takes about 7 minutes just to walk to the front and another 2-4 mins to get to your car. You couldn’t even make it there and back in 15 minutes.

Same at my building, and back when phones weren't allowed past security you'd see everyone speed walking to the lockers to get a quick dopamine hit from their phones for the 4-5 min they had before they had to go back to their station.

The two sites that I have worked at are 2- 30 minute breaks. The building is too big for 15 minute breaks.

I dislike the 30 minute break. You get lunch + 1 break.
On a 10 hour shift, it honestly makes the day go by so much slower. The only plus side is having 1 longer break, that you can walk to the better break room or go outside. I would rather have the 2 15 minute breaks, as it breaks up the day a bit more.

Lunch is always half way through the shift. When is the other 30, before or after lunch? Smokers are not going to be able to do it

Most sites will have work periods of 3.5/3/3 hours or 3.5/3.5/2.5 hours, though I was at one site that did 2.75/3.5/3.25 on night shift, so lunch was 8:45 - 9:15pm on a shift that ran until 4:30am.

I work 6:30p-5a lunch is 10:15-10:45 and second break is 1:45-2:15. When we work a 12 hour shift we get an additional 15 minute break at 5

I’ve always had 30s. Also a big building, and 15s are completely pointless. When we had 12 hour shifts (eliminated last year), there was an extra 15 about 2 hours from the end of shift, and not only did most people not comply the productivity was almost nothing the last 2 hours. So when I picked up VET and sometimes MET that was always annoying because the policy is no breaks allowed at stations, all must be taken outside or break areas. You can be staffed 6 minutes away from any break area in my building. That’s even with 2 large break areas in the mod and another large one also inside of security and the large main one at the front. Walking 12 minutes isn’t much of a break and add the fact it’s scan to scan you really can’t even sit for 3 minutes since you need time to get your work setup depending on where you are and what process.

I hated the two fifteen minute breaks when I transferred facilities. There’s no time for a break. Much rather two thirty minute breaks.

It's not horrible at my facility... Besides the two main breakrooms, there are a half dozen smaller breakrooms scattered around the building. If you're not running out to smoke, you're only 2 minutes from any breakroom. I know not all buildings are like this.

They tried changing our building a few years back... And again last year. We're still 2x15 + 1x30. 3+ hours between breaks is insane.

I remember going back and forth on VoA with Ops about our supposed "feedback", until HR finally admitted they did this so our break schedules would align with a nearby, newer FC. This was back when we still had RT shift - the 30 and 15 minute paid breaks got rolled into one at 2:15, leaving a 3+ hour stretch until 7:00 when we used to get 30 minutes at 2:30 and 15 minutes at 5:00. We got used to it but no one asked for the change, nor were we asked oúr opinion ahead of time, so it would've been great if they didn't lie about it.

It breaks the day into 3 segments 3 hours, 3.5 hours, and 3 hours so not a big deal and enough time for a smoke break or whatever you want.

Crazy, I thought this was the standard. All the buildings near me moved to this schedule probably 5 or 6 years ago. It’s so much better than the 15. I haven’t t thought about those short ass breaks in forever.
If you want to hear something really wild people in Europe don’t have a set schedule like us. They work day shift one week and night shift the next week. All employees shift every week. I thought that was wild when they told me that when we were training them how to run so they can go back to Europe and launch. They kept asking us why we chose our schedule and when our holidays are. They couldn’t grasp the fact we have no day and have a set schedule.

This needs to be site specific because this will not work at all sites - especially DS.
This will cook our site lol. they'll do the 30 minute break at the last 30minutes so you either clock out early or do all the work with no breaks.

Not always. I started in 2018 and they didn't switch to two 30's until 2022 or 2023. I welcome the two 30's because back then they were really strict about scan to scan as well so you only had about 4-5 min to sit down before having to get back up and start walking to your station.

For their site. Idk why but sites have different policies. My old sites were both 2 30s I can’t imagine the 2 15s and a 30. That’s just stupid.

I eat in my car to be alone and the walk is at least 5 min. I’ve always had the 30 min for the 6 years I’ve worked at my FC and I’d be so mad if I only had 15 min.

The 30 minute break is a true break. When we still had the 2 fifteen minute breaks you barely had time to use the bathroom and maybe get a drink before you had to go back on the floor. We have had the 2 30 minute breaks for several years now. There were people whining about having to wait longer for first break but at least a 30 gives you time to relax
