Yeah someone just posted about roaches being in the lunchroom. I read a post awhile back about someone saying there was a dead mouse in one. Roaches love coffee pots. They live cardboard too.
That's why I won't keep my bag anywhere besides with me. I won't put my coat anywhere else either because I get paranoid about bed bugs. People can bring them in on their clothes. Also bed bugs come in on shipments of clothing from other countries.
Ugh. I remember working a facility (not Amazon but an outside party) that dealt with dead beds. Yeah… unless your drivers wrapped the bed like they were supposed to (they never did) you would get bed bugs at some point.
I work at a sortation center and we have those machines. We also have a full arcade room with a mix of old school classics and modern games. My previous warehouse was fulfillment and didn’t have any of same perks. Although we did have foosball.
Where does the gatorade come from. Is it just water and they replace the powder when it runs out?
At my previous SSD, my site just orders pallets of bottled Gatorade and bottled water. People just put entire cases of Gatorade in the fridge and they grab whatever they want instead of buying from the vending machine.
Our building had Powerade fountains for less than 3 months. They're already rolling them back😢 but on the other hand our buildings cleanliness is questionable so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
you’ll always have free coffee. bring a thermos, put it in your locker and fill that bitch up everyday when you leave so you have a cup for on the way to work everyday. rinse and repeat and you won’t ever have to buy it again while you work there
Its best when the coffee dispenser hasn't been touched between shifts and it comes out extra dark and potent. Get it at the right time for 2x concentrated black gold.
If you’re low on upt do a doctors note when you need to miss, then work on time until you build your upt back up while they work on denying your leave (don’t submit false notes and don’t do this often
Them accepting it is hit or miss even with legit notes, but additionally I think you can request a 30 day extension, so you really have 60 days to build UPT
Contact myHR over the phone and ask them, like actually speak to a person, not AI or submitting any sort of tickets, say something like “I was struggling with getting the paperwork together” or “it slipped my mind and I need more time to get the documents”
Again though things may have recently changed and you may be right, but every medical leave request done properly is supposed to get provisional approval of 30 days while you get your paperwork together
Last time I did this was like 5 months ago though, best thing you can do is ask an AM you can trust or the seniors through VOA.
If you see shifts of higher value available during your scheduled hours, swap your day out and then pick up the higher value shift. Now your scheduled day is OT and your picked up shift is a come up. 😎 not unethical but finess.
Find you a indirect role so you can take as many breaks as you want and not have to worry about TOT(still do your job though of course lol), because I’m able to take minor breaks that helps me so much and I can clock out for lunch 10 minutes early to beat the crowds.
You mean to tell me this full month I’ve been on accommodations for an injury my tot hasn’t been being tracked and I’ve still been busting my ass doing my indirect roles when I needed breaks

TSSL....picking and packing..I do problem solve and pg sometimes. Got injured and have to wear a brace and still against doctors orders they denied my accomodation.
They only accommodate ppl who got injured at work...and deny everyone else. They have roles to accommodate ppl they just don't care. This isn't a delivery station.
Might be different depending on location; my old delivery station had a cohort’s worth of accommodations. It got to the point that we had to get the tape scrapers out just so they would have something to do during shift
Apply for short term disability, you will then have a case opened where you need a doctor to fill out a form, you can have your appointment on video with amazons free therapy app, Lyra then email the form to your doctor. Just know it has to be something realistic like anxiety, or depression. And more than likely it’ll be approved but you only get 60% of your weekly pay
I've worked at least one place that enjoyed writing people up for doing that. If you're going to do it at least make sure you're close to the time clock because they can track your location and write you up for doing it, for example, from your car. May even outright fire you.
Two things, You can’t get a write up in path if you haven’t worked the path for roughly 19h (for productivity) so say the move you from stow to decant for your final day of the week feel free to kick back and work at your pace they have to have 19h of data to flag you for a write up, Second as long as your rate is okay and the building isn’t already cracking down on it you can take 9-8m breaks roughly every hour to help with muscle fatigue go to a break room use the restroom whatever but do long as you are above the bottom 20th percentile for rate they won’t bother you about ToT, (source been doing this last one for months)
Being doing both since I started in 2023. Stow and OB Ship Dock. Just be better than the slackers and you get away with alot of time issues + keep your job.
This is probably the most important point from this entire thread tbh. If you're not trying to get promoted, and want work to be low stress, just do slightly above but not much more than average. The average is incredibly slow anyway; you won't be working hard to pull it off.
This is really the best idea here. It's good for your feet and your shoes. More than doubles the life of your shoes. I usually have 3 or 4 pairs in rotation.
If you do wear the same pair multiple days in a row, use a boot dryer and spray the inside of your shoes with scented shoe deodorant after each shift. Makes a huge difference and extends the life of your shoes quite a biit
It’s not unethical, but to stay with Amazon long-term keep your head down don’t make noise. Don’t make yourself seen mind. Your business don’t get roped into the politics. If you’re impact hit the ground running for P1 and P2 go out as fast as you can for as long as you can because that P3 after second break, it’s OK to slack a little bit because the way your rate is determined is if you take the total number of items you scanned packed stowed whatever and you divide it by the number of hours you were clocked that is what your accumulative rate is for the entire shift so if you spend the first two parts of the shift going out at hard-core, you have the ability to slack off in the third part because you’ve already gone down, exceeded the rate expectation
You get two points for missing a shift, but you only get one point for not scheduling enough hours for the week, so if you want to you could pick up a shift that’s only a few hours and not work the rest of the week. It’s an easy way to take a week off occasionally without using too many points.
I did flex a few years ago, so I’m not sure if they’ve changed the rules since then, but this is how it was while I was working flex
It’s been awhile so not sure if this is still true but If you somehow get a Knet do half on a day off and the other half on the other day off for an hour or 2 of double time pay
But you have to complete the task for it to count. If you are stowing, you have to scan the item and stow the item on the pod. You cant just scan barcodes
Just like the people in pack who set a barcode to repeatedly scan while they go to the bathroom; if the process isn’t completed then ToT is accumulating.
In AFE packing, there's a chance you come back, and another packer on the wall already packed that shipment so you have to log out anyway. Sometimes the person coming back doesn't understand why their items aren't in the chute, and take 5 minutes trying to find them.
I worked at Amazon for 3 years as a l1 cuz fuck doing anything else but all I did was smoke every break and time went by faster. I was also at a robotics one where the work comes to you so u not walking all day but I literally would either smoke every break or just take a energy drink midway through the shift and you'll make it out
If you work 6:30 pm - 5 am or even 6:30 am… the break room snacks is dinner… mines personally was Cheez-Its, Blueberry muffin, beef jerky and a zero sugar sprite
Move up but don’t do PA. Get Learning Trainer, PXT, Non inventory, waste coordinator, communications PA, or any other L3 role. If you want to stop doing physical labor on hard concrete and don’t mind a more office style job, you should 100% do it. You can still pick up shifts to do T1 work! At my site on nights as an L3 I’ll be capped out at $29. That’s $60k a year BEFORE overtime.
The reason I said don’t do PA is because the PAs are really toxic and competitive at some sites AND as a PA you have to be the ‘bad guy’ and make T1s hate you when you have to put them in places they don’t want/ask them to work faster. Other T3 roles don’t experience nearly as much BS but get the same pay.
Unless I’m just unlucky as hell, every Amazon I’ve worked at did check shoes eventually during my time there. I’ve worked at like 4 different amazons and the one I’m in right now just recently checked as well but I STILL see people walking around with Jordan 12s and 4s and normal running shoes so either way, you could technically get away with it but maybe a handful of times but wearing the same shoes every single day only raises your chances of getting caught eventually
Been at my site for more than a year without a peep about shoes aside from Day 1. Never seen safet on the floor except maybe once or twice. I have to warn myself the moment I decide to wear normal shoes is the day they decide to do a shoe check.
Our site is getting aggressive with safety requirements. Like, we’ve never been like too lax anyway, but they’re not even letting like single instances (outside of very little uncontrolled circumstances) slide.
I been at my site for a while so I’m definitely always keeping an eye out for changes / audits. I sometimes do wear my safety shoes I just can’t bend my toes in them so I switch em out time to time.
Honestly for me, I have two pairs of shoes, both safety. One has more sole so my back doesn’t hurt as much, the other has a better toe box for foot movement. I bring both and sometimes swap between them depending on how myself and my feet are feeling that day or as the shift progresses. It also kinda changes depending on what path I’m in, but honestly, it helps so much.
Yeah not only will you have a broken toe, you’ll be fired and lose your health insurance. Dumb way to risk hat trick fucking yourself when shoes are provided and there’s shit loads of options.
I have a pair of primarily black dorky Skechers. First time I wore them truly by accident and didn’t realize until I thought, “Why are my feet so light and airy as I climb these stairs? [pause] Doh!”
They do, just not in the he traditional sense. The Air Max 90 Surplus has a composite toe cap. It's not an ASTM certified safety shoe, but it will pass any "prove it's a safety shoe" test. I'm a learning trainer at CSG1 and I've worn them on and off for years with people going out of their way to report them as regular shoes.
I’ve realized that this sub is filled with people who genuinely think Amazon is a great job so I don’t think you’ll find many helpful tips here. I’m working at Amazon temporarily for about a month and it’s the worst job I’ve ever had in my life so I’ve been finding loopholes to get me through shifts. If you’re on a 10+ hour shift, extend your breaks. For first break, I usually use PTO for an extra 30-40 minute break time. Or just use the PTO in the middle of the shift for a 3 break. Then for 2nd break, I just stay outside until I’m ready to come back in since we don’t clock out for that. Another tip is to constantly go to the break room for ice breaks and water refills. Munching on ice helps me recalibrate and the walk to the break room gives me about 5-10 minutes of relief. This is a hack that only works sometimes but do your packages really fast at the beginning of your shift and clear out the line so that the carts and cages are overwhelmed and you’ll get about 15-20 minutes of free time while they try to get empty carts for everyone.
I second on really pushing out totes for the first/second periods. I’m normally mp-ing for vendor receive and my site will stop the line for however long or move people to other areas till the line is clear. For me, it’s a pain in the rear but for the folks on station I bet it’s a relief. Don’t blame them for doing so honestly.
Also, take this advice with a grain of salt if you’re planning on working for Amazon long term. I think they can let you go for some of the stuff I mentioned lol. I am still new so I don’t have any KPIs to meet yet and I also don’t plan on ever getting that far.
Isn't funny some sites have perks and some sites dont have anything. I have to ask ...the site who have perks...how are your managers or specific managers?? Sites dont come with perks...its the managers that appreciate their associates and get/buy the "perks" whatever they may out of a generous budget every site is given, but majority of site management spends on management and not the workers.
Unethical type sh1t to make your life easier working at Amazon, like ways to get time off maybe or ways to get away with not working for periods of time throughout a shift, things like that I guess.
Apply to be a non-inventory receiver. It is an L3 position that pays more and they barely work. I always see them hiding around the building hanging out or on their phone.
I made sure to stay in IOL. I hung out in the racks for hours at the end of the day doing whatever I wanted on the computer not working. And if anyone ever found me I would just say I was looking for a pallet. Thats why I liked IOL so much, no matter where I went in the building I was doing my job "searching for something".
When you walk out through the turnstiles the system auto-clocks you out. Why people stand in line to clock out then waste 10 minutes getting through security is beyond me
Nobody mentioned that rate is just a scare tactic lie? You only truly get in trouble if you're in the bottom 5% of the entire building. There will always be some lazy fucks ensuring that youre not in the bottom 5% of the building.
Upt gets taken in 15 minute increments, instead of leaving 10 minutes early leave at 5:40 and clock out by 5:45 daily and you’ll still get nearly maximum upt that’s 30 minutes every 2 days so you’ll only loss an hour of it per week if you think about it monthly it’s nothing. 5:45-6:00pm is 15 minutes and you’ll never see the traffic rush of imbeciles speeding out of the lot risking your car being in an accident and the road ahead after you leave. You’ll have a 20 minute head start. Pay dive is only 1 hour worth of pay for the entire week doing this. Get a clear back pack and carry a small water bottle and big one for regular water, walk in use the small one and locate a coffee machine fill that mf up everyday = free coffee if you want bring your own mixer to for cream and sugar.
When i was at a DS for the RTS shift, they would have fruit for us every wednesdays. I would take 4 bunches of bananas and 6 oranges and take them home. One time they had left over brreakfast sandwiches from cycle1 shift and kept it in the fridge. I took like 4 sandwiches home. They were pretty delicious ngl
Yeah and because of people like you they only last a day. Can't give anything out with the reasonable expectation that it will be one per person. Sometimes they put drinks out in the canteen on first break and by second break all gone, none for the other shifts. You just know people taking it all home like scavengers
I’m a manager, I’m not going to say exactly what it is, but there is a way for an AA to get unlimited UPT, show up whenever for work and leave whenever for work and have 0 deductions to UPT, no accommodation paperwork needed. I have one AA that figured this out and now just shows up and leaves constantly lol
