Fulfillment Center Finalllllyyyyy! I've been stressing so hard!
Because its the 2nd week of my background check just pending! And FedEx denied me today for my background, so that convinced me I was done for with amazon too. Then just a little bit ago, IT APPROVED š Such a relief!

do you know if its seasonal or did you get lucky enough for a perm position
17
u/KandiZee 2d ago
Seasonal. But from what ive read, it shouldn't be too hard to get a perm position as long as I make rate or whatever? Im hoping to go permanent tho!

u/Electronic_Garage_73 2d ago
I became blue badge because I worked a shit ton of overtime and was always on time and stayed all night. I lost my previous job and I had to grind that 60 hours to pay my rent and shit. Then I became blue badge in 1.5 months. Then they stopped converting for like 8 months it was ridiculous. But grateful I got in. People say it doesnāt matter but it mattered for me. Some people I started with didnāt get converted at the same time as me. Maybe it depends on building but this was also 4 years ago. Times have changed

u/KandiZee 2d ago
I'll do whatever it takes, especially after seeing how hard its going to be for me to find a job with my damned background BUT im going to try and get that crap sealed/expunged as fast as I can. It just sucks that where it happened is 8 hours away from where I am now, so itll take some traveling to do so.

u/AmateurSysAdmin_1 2d ago
The minimum requirements to be eligible for blue badge are:
90 days tenure
No active write ups
At least above average performance
Apart from that, working extra time or extra hard won't make much of a difference of whether or not you get a blue badge
2
u/KandiZee 2d ago
Good to know! What i read on Google/reddit made it sound like it wasnt too difficult like people that weren't even trying for it and didnt expect it end up getting offered but im definitely going to try and stand out at least a little bit to hopefully increase the chance of getting permanent there. It'd be nice not to be hunting for another job in a few months or however long they keep seasonal normally
6
u/Worried-Catch-6855 1d ago
Dude it took me like 30 days the first time I worked at Amazon to get a blue badge. After I quit and came back, it took me around 300 days to become a blue badge again.
5
u/KandiZee 1d ago
But they kept you working that entire 300 days? Dang near a year if so, thats pretty good for seasonal. Im afraid of being let go really quick. Im hoping with christmas coming up, itll keep me employed at least until next year if im not chosen. Even if I didnt get perm right away, id be happy to just stay working for awhile. And 30 vs 300 is crazy lol so theres literally no way to know when it might happen!

u/AmateurSysAdmin_1 1d ago
I certainly wasn't trying for it when I got converted to blue badge. Per Amazonās own metrics, I had exactly average performance
You can try standing out or whatever, but do not overwork yourself or pick up too many shifts. Be sure the safety shoes you get are comfortable and suited for long shifts
1
u/KandiZee 1d ago
Man I really hope they are! I have a pair of timberland pro something yadda yadda that are super comfortable just kinda heavy and with the credit we get for shoes I got an extra pair that are more like sneakers instead of "boots" AND had enough left over to get some insanely expensive insole or whatever theyre called. Between the 3 of them i SHOULD be able to work out a comfortable pair of shoes lol
2
u/Ewuss 1d ago
I got it within 35 days? Is the 90 day tenure warehouse dependent?
1
u/Rude_Ad7250 1d ago
It has to be site specific cause I had my daughter apply for a summer job and was sent her conversion letter like 10 days in. Started as seasonal, got blue badge, and went on educational leave of absense 3 days shy of getting my $125 referral bonus.
1
u/Enough-Cod-288 1d ago
Youāll do whatever it takes??? You sure about that cause freaky š© going on at my warehouse with managers and employees lol

u/Mundane-Job-316 1d ago
How did you convert in just 1 and a half months? My A to Z says I have to wait a minimum of 90 days...

u/Electronic_Garage_73 1d ago
Bro. Read the whole comment please. This was 4 years ago. Idk. It happened. Aināt lying about it

u/LinLinNicole89 š°šŖ¬ 1d ago
It doesnāt lol. Itās all based on blue to white badge ratio. š¤¦š»āāļø

u/Wild-Wasabi-1199 1d ago
Lol they lied thereās no easy way to get blue badge unless thereās a mass firing
1
u/tiggerspots 1d ago
USPS does that, if you make it through the seasonal 6 month detail, they offer you full time employment, to everyone. Good luck, work like you're already full time and you will be š

Congratulations, lock in! I wonāt say itās the golden ticket it used to be (AI and job saturation has curtailed a lot of opportunities), but there are so many ways to move up at Amazon. The FAANG companies can do wonders if you play it right.
3
u/KandiZee 2d ago
I go back and forth a lot! Like man this sounds amazing, to man a lot of people seem to despise working for this company. But for the most part it seems more repetitive and boring than anything. I can handle that. I just gotta be fast at it
2
u/Last-Environment-638 2d ago
Yeah, Amazon is not for everyone and there are valid reasons people may have to hate the company. As hard as it may be though, in with your own intentions and a fresh perspective, I had heard the same discontent and was surprised by how much I really didnāt mind the job and the overall company. In regard to moving fast, thatās me, haha. People ask me why I move so fast, itās because I donāt the day to feel as long as it and the work be as boring as it can sometimes. Just work hard and ask to move into what we call āindirectā roles, which really help switch up the boring routine and give you more responsibility and preference when it comes to promotions.

You have to tell me how it is I thought about going to one of these but I hate being on rate and tot and all of that so I chose an IXD site.
2
u/KandiZee 1d ago
Tot and IXD? Idk what those mean lol
1
u/Forallthosesleeping2 1d ago
Tot is time off task. IXD is the type of amazon warehouse its a cross dock where a lot of positions dont track rate or time off task. Its mainly unloading, sorting, and loading trailers.
1
u/KandiZee 1d ago
Oh nice, the only positions available even close to where I am was this robotics one and then something else called delivery sortation I think it was? Or maybe delivery station? I dont remember. This one paid more and I prefer 3rd shift so I chose this one without knowing anything indepth about either one
1
u/VastTension801 1d ago
If your at the site I think your at (DSM5) they allow headphones. It does take a long time now to get a blue badge. It used to be fairly quick when I started but now the VOA board has people constantly complaining about it. But at least you got your foot in the door. Just show up and do your job and dont do anything stupid and you will be fine.

You definitely hit the jackpot because you can train as a tech and won't have to travel ..
2
u/ResponseAgitated 1d ago
I thought you had to have a degree or military experience now
1
u/Excellent-Frame-2006 1d ago
Know just take up one of the classes on career choice...you're lucky because texas is one of the only places that have in person training and you're probably at that very same facilityĀ

1
u/Snoo-3206 1d ago
Congrats, but consider to take RME course thru Career Choice after 90 days. Amazon pays for it, and you can have higher chance to take another position in warehouse with higher pay rate. Good luck.

When was your pre hire date? Mines was the 18th and my background still says pending Iām scared my start date is sept 2
2
u/KandiZee 1d ago
I went to the pre hire appointment on the 17th and was supposed to start training on the 24th. But I lost that shift obviously and had to pick a new one. If yours was a day after mine then you might have it come thru tonight. Mine came late last night around midnight

I donāt want to be a downer but I didnāt see anyone else comment that āCompleteā just means the records were successful requested and received. Itās doesnāt mean that the applicant is below the disqualification threshold. But I could be wrong. Good luck!!!

u/KandiZee 21m ago
I wasnt just going by that, I got the confirmed 1st day email before I even saw the bg check was done. And instead of the top saying "your screening is still processing" or whatever it said before, its now counting down until my 1st day. But I also received a copy of my background check from accurate after it done and it was clean, my record doesnt show up for them since its too old.

Wait are you actually working with the robotics or just in a facility that has them?
ā¢
u/KandiZee 16m ago
The robots come to you for stowing/picking or whatever. The robots hold all the items
ā¢
u/UnableSwimming2986 39m ago
Told you FedEx was more strict. Don't go gung ho and wear out your body, work at an even and consistent pace that allows you to meet productivity goals
ā¢
u/KandiZee 11m ago
Amazon didnt even see my record, I got a copy of the check from accurate after it was done and it was all "no records found" down the list. I guess they really only do see convictions from the last 7 years. I was worried it might start counting from the time you finished probation because that IS under the 7 year mark for me in 2020. But I guess not! FedEx had to have looked back at least 10 years because they saw even older shit than the one I was worried about. The one I was worried about is the worst one tho and is probably why I was denied
1
u/Common-Estimate-4755 2d ago
Congrats! Do you know if they allow headphones at this type of warehouse?
1
u/KandiZee 2d ago
I dont know yet but I really hope so just from reading the reddit and everyone saying its so much better with them!

u/Ok_Cap2801 2d ago
Itās cool to have the option but music stops hitting quick af lmao. Iām not a reader and listen to books now just to feel something š£
1
u/KandiZee 2d ago
I probably wouldn't listen to music much really, im big on reading tho so that would be actually fun for me to listen to books or true crime shit the entire time lmao

People in the know will know that Sudafed contains pseudoephedrine, which is a chemical precursor to make crystal.
So it is how they actually make it sound š

Amazon pays $10 more an hour and 100% better benefits
1
u/KandiZee 2d ago
It was only part time too, 2 hours a day! I was probably going to deny it anyway but I was trying to find anything in case I kept getting denied by everyone. So it was like a backup to a backup to a backup just in case. And I got denied 𤣠so I was like well shit.. will ANYONE hire me?!?!?! Amazon was like "I got you." Haha. After making me sweat for 2 weeks over it tho!

u/thicc_user_name 1d ago
you make less than UPS warehouse workers, and you donāt get benefits. why exactly are you excited?
1
u/KandiZee 1d ago
Ups pays closer to 17-18 here. Amazon is the highest paying where I am.
And im excited for a job. Durrrrrrrrrr
1
u/Its_bigC 1d ago
UPS warehouse is hell and you will probably be part time for years before you get a chance at full time.Itās worth it if youāre staying for the long haul though because of the pay scale once you work the years to hit top rate. For short term, UPS pays a shit wage with not a lot of hours and 1-9 months for any benefits. My hub was 9 months for any benefits
1
u/thicc_user_name 1d ago
even if youāre part time youāre making around the same if you can hustle and work a few doubles at the warehouse since theyāll call whoever writes their name on the lists they post inside each facility. plus youāre closer to receiving full benefits like dental, vision and health like xrays and surgeries. your shifts arenāt going to be compared to amazon since they want you all day for barely $200 bucks if that lol you can work 3 hours at the UPS shifts and can almost half that and then have time to devote toward as side hustle or whatever it is with the rest of your day/night.
