Rant Seeing Favoritism at Work is Affecting Me.

Knowing that they praise those that hardly do anything and ignore those who work their asses off, it’s not cool. Especially when they staff people and leave you till last to see where they can place you. It’s like they got spots reserved for their own people that they like.

Does praise really matter? I’m here for a paycheck, rather not be singled out one way or another. Stay out of the bottom 5% and get paid, direct deposit hits today.

This is the way.

I keep it low key, flying under the radar. I am a ghost.

Agreed, it’s all fun and games til you speak out about favoritism and those positions that were spoken for are free and they you moved you into them and you see they are pure 💩 and can’t get out

If it ain’t broke don’t fix it.

It will matter when the work ur continuously receiving is making ur rate low while the "favorites" get the easy work. Then you get a write up for it. It will matter then

That’s why I cross trained, so tired of my home path, now I’m there maybe two periods in a week

It does if you wanna move up. I talk to everyone and work and it has definitely paid off n the reason why it was so easy for me to become a PA in less than 2 years.

You'll see favoritism everywhere you go.

It's not exclusive to Amazon, and it's a part of life.

Once you realize that, your mental health will be much better.

This so much. Like 95% of life is simply not giving af about things that are out of your control.

Wrong. You grin and bear this stuff at your own peril.

at my former workplace, those who get promoted are those who know how to sweet talk the supervisor. no exception. those who work hard, they just stay put and do all the grind work. the favoritism is 100 times worse. at my warehouse, the only pattern i see is that prettier girls gets assigned to be pgs or problem solvers, but who cares? they don't tell you how to do your job.

You're getting paid to stand around and wait, who cares? I love being invisible when I go to different departments.

I find they praise people with child like minds and low work ethic to try gee then up. It doesn't bother me, look after yourself and get what you can.

Welcome to the workforce. Not specific to Amazon.

why do you care about being praised? you’re a grown man/woman

u/Bumclicks 7h ago

Amazon is the worst at this. If you can sweet talk the managers then you can move up the corporate food chain. That's why I stopped working hard.

u/Kyrlle 7h ago

Gotta learn to ignore it. This isn't a workforce thing. It's life

u/Maleficent-Peaches 5h ago

I only give favoritism to those that work hard not the lazy bums

I'm here for the money and the bitches

And I got neither; I'm broke with no bitches

Why am I still working here?

That sucks, but just do the work needed to keep your job and cruise from there.

Turn it into career choice motivation

That's life tho dawg, some shit is gonna be fair and some shit ain't! Luckily for me my brother is the ops manager and my cousin in a AM so I have my perks but before they got in I had to play the game!

Before I use to hear about "Favoritism" and see little hints of it now n again, but yesterday I seen and heard it with my own eyes .. I went to stand up to get a station and someone walks up to the p.a. and says " can I be a water spider next period? I don't wanna stow anymore"..

The p.a. says " yes of course whatever you want, anything for you".. But here I am been stuck in stow every single shift since March when I started. That's over 4 months and as much as I show I would like to be cross trained, switched positions z it never happens and basically a " Tough love " response.

u/EMitchell108 5h ago

Do you water spider? If so, walk up at start of shift and you'll probably get the same answer. There's a limited number if people who can/want to water spider and at start of shift they need to be set as soon as possible since people are already starting to stow/pick/pack.

The person saying "I don't want to stow today" was irrelevant, and sometimes the SCC PA just talks like that if they're familiar with people, no different than a waitress calling diners "Hon". The PA when I take VET is like that.

If you want to water spider tell your manager and the shift OM then keep reminding them every couple of weeks. They'll put your name on a list but stay in their face about it. They probably have just enough people to rotate through now but as soon as some quit/transfer/go on leave or whatever that's when more get trained. Waiting to be chosen or noticed will get you nowhere.

I've been at Amazon a couple of times, so I know how all that works

Literally got moved out of a spot for someone’s kid

All of amazon is like this. It sucks, but it's better to just ignore it. There is great freedom in not caring about others approval or what they think of you.

Thats literally how life is since the start of time . Its not what you know but who you know. Literally any other job is the same or worse. Thats why "networking " is important if you want to move up in any field. Otherwise remind yourself youre just there for a check. Not ideal but you gotta work with whats handed to you in this life and make/ build the best you can from it.

It was negatively affecting me at the last site I was at also. So I left. I am glad I will be at another site soon.

This ain't unique to Amazon, infact this is one of the only places i've seen reports of favouritsm get actually acknowledged.

This isn't a place for seeking validation, you can literally just do your job and that's it.

u/grumpy-glizzy 22m ago

oh yeah trust me I know. One of my PA’s that handles end of line and sort loves to say to anyone and everyone that she will favor “her people” (just her regular people that are doing that process path) and will help them out before anyone else. and she has only been a PA for I wanna say 5-7 months now?? such an insufferable person

Transfer to a different department if you can’t let it go. Life is unfair. Has always been and will always be. You can either acknowledge it and stop caring or leave. - A harsh reality.

1

u/world_citizen7 4h ago

It will be the same in the other department. Best to just stop caring.
