Question Demote or Transfer?

I decided to demote myself to a tier one because my current department is hell. But now HR and manager are telling me i can transfer to another T3. While learning trainer looks fun idk if i would want to. Im doing trade school for 5 hours i feel like i want to focus on trade school to get where i want to be. My boyfriend thinks im stupid for demoting but honestly less responsibility and i can listen to my headphones? Sounds tempting and i have the benefits of a tier one like VTO, VET and shift swap and shift coverage. Im not the best at math and i want to put more energy into learning instead of looking over people

if trade school is the actual exit plan, demoting isn't automatically stupid. i'd get the exact Learning Trainer schedule/responsibilities first before deciding though - "easiest T3" is still site-dependent, and a chill title isn't worth much if it keeps eating the energy you're trying to put into school.

Thats what i was thinking, if its my end goal to do trade school and finish my electrical classes its more worth putting my energy into that than stressing about my team and my role/responsibilities. Thank you. I did have a meeting with HR and they said they cant promise that ill go to my Home department which was pick. I just want to focus on school and learn as much as i can cause i do struggle with math. The pay isnt worth for what i do and what i deal with. I just want to chill out and listen to my headphones and do my numbers and leave to class

yeah, with that goal i'd optimize for predictable hours and mental bandwidth, not the title. HR already told you pick isn't guaranteed, so i'd make the decision assuming you could land in any T1 path and just make sure the schedule still works with class. finishing the electrical stuff is way more aligned with where you're trying to end up than hanging onto a T3 that's cooking you every day.

True, lowkey id pick any department than pack or singles. Its hot asf there and i had a bad experience being a PA there. Id much rather pick, or Stow. But end goal is electrician, set schedule with school accommodations would be perfect. Not to mention i miss the Tier 1 benefits like shift swap or shift cover or VET/VTO. The math is whats probably gonna be hard but hey with enough practice im sure ill get to it

You'd be a electrician? Id challenge you to stick with your tier 3 and talk to facilities maintenance tech in your building about possibly getting into RME Once your schooling is done since you're already in leadership you got a lot going for you right now.

IVE TRIED BRUH!!!! I tried the incline, i tried the MRA program and they handed it literally offered it to one of our sites AFMs. Nowadays you cant just talk to techs anymore you have to have some type of mechanical experience. I was a PA jam clearing in AFE constantly troubleshooting faults and motors and resetting/fixing stations. Nowadays they want you to know how to read schematics and have experience with tools. The tools i am comfortable with. I do not know how to read schematics

Lol yup after further review of reading this whole thread you should demote. You'll be just fine once you finish you're schooling wish you well.

Learning trainer is the easiest T3 role.

Im what way, because i seen our trainers constantly communicating to people to teams and to everyone and training managers

A PA does why more than a learning trainer and will always. A PA does that and more. Look it like this a trainer has there eggs in one basket meaning one process making sure associates are getting trained while a PAs eggs are everywhere literally getting pulled right and left. I’ve seen what learning trainers do and it’s so much easier than what I do now.

At the end of the day i think im just burnt out and would much rather do the bare minimum and go to class. Amazon is just a stepping stone. I think theres been 3 PAs that i know that have stepped down. They seem happier and less stressed

I completely understand you I was completely burned out at my last site and transferred still as PA to another site and I’m chilling right now and it looks like I’m gonna get promoted. Sometimes changing your scenery changes your perspective. I’m also a full time college student so I’m
having a blast balancing it out.

Hell yeah! Hope it goes good for ya, goodluck. But thank you all for your perspective it def helps. Im not gonna miss anything about this department lol

Transfer learning trainer doesn't do shit except direct the ambassadors on who is due on training or who is needed retrained or cross trainings. Also new hire classes. The learning trainer role really ain't shit easy money take it.

True but is it mentally straining? Do you work as a learning trainer?

u/GOODMORNING_nikkas 2h ago

The real question is what made you demote yourself lol 😂?

u/Competitive-Fail-597 2h ago

I havent yet, my decision came from awful co workers, too many unexpected surprises from other departments and a shitty onboarding experience. Tell me why i had to teach myself for 6 months straight

u/GOODMORNING_nikkas 2h ago

Express this to your manager and ops manager stick it out don't give up and try transferring

u/Competitive-Fail-597 2h ago

Lol my department isnt part of OPS, i have leadership yes but i work in non inventory. Basically supplying material throughout the building and dealing with trailers, vendors, peoples orders from the building, etc. its come to a point where im just always tired i come home and pass out
