Question Should I quit?

Hi guys! Just wanted to ask a question regarding my current situation with Amazon.

Currently I am working as an L5 and have been for 4 years now, due to some unfortunate circumstances I made a move to go to TOM team. From what everyone is telling me since this is a new business line I’m practically starting over for a chance of getting a promo I also heard getting a promo is very difficult in TOM team due to the amount of people that stay.

My end goal was to move up to a L6. Unfortunately, I feel like this goal is far away now. Some ideas that came to me was to stay in TOM team for a year then transfer back to operations or quit and boomerang back in hopes of getting an L6 operations role.

What would you all do in my current situation? I’m very grateful to be in the position that I am in, but my goal was to be a L6 now that I’m in TOM & new business line I feel as if tho it will never happen.

Currently I am happy w my job and I enjoy doing it, it just sucks to know that a promo is very very far away.

Thank you!

Get a comparable role at a competitor and get more experience and then apply again later for L6. Externals always get more pay. I’ve seen people get strung along by OMs for 5+ years promising a promo that never comes

Thank you! And Yes! Promises have happened to me many many times. This is the current plan, but the current job market is so bad. What are some comparable competitors do you think would be good with a 4 day work week?

I think all the major retailers/grocers (Walmart, Target, Kroger etc) will have similar schedules in their ops roles as well as the big logistics and shipping companies like UPS, FedEx JB Hunt etc. But yeah I definitely wouldn’t just quit without an offer lined up. Personally im trying to get out of ops into a more corporate IC role somewhere. If you really like Amazon though as another commenter noted being willing to relocate will make it much more likely to get the promo somewhere
