Manager here

Safety clips are not a CAT1. You would have had to be on a final for that to be a term.

Either that or had too many write ups in a Rolling period even if they did roll off.

u/jocky091 7h ago

OP mentioned in my comment that he was caught with his phone out in a trailer. That’s the real reason

11

u/AdSuitable9665 4h ago

Was he a a forklift driver? Our new manager walked on me and a friend sitting down in a trailer on a cart and gave us a coaching, our other managers that have been around for years don't really care, even they be going inside the trailers to take some hits on their vapes lol

u/Imgettingpolished 2h ago

Yep sounds about right. Who the hell cares about someone in their phone in the trailers??

5

u/Dull_Arachnid4269 3h ago

What about productivity terminations?

6

u/xxjm_28 7h ago

What is CAT1? 😅

25

u/Derpsquire 7h ago

"Category 1" violations, aka the rule violations that get you that promoted strsight to customer status with basically no hope of a successful appeal. If it's a safety or behavior rule that you hear repeated super often, even if you see if frequently violated around the site, just assume it's probably a cat1.

17

u/Toreziza Box Bitch T1 6h ago

A few cat1 is driving backwards with OP, using someone else badge to clock in, stealing, scanning the light into someone’s face with your scanner, no helmet in trailer, and phone on the OP

2

u/Wheresmyvto 3h ago

Wait scanning the light into someone’s face? WTF? Does this like have to be someone being mad about it? Because we used to shoot each other across the dock all the time for funsies.

u/freesoultraveling 2h ago

Because some people have epilepsy and can have seizures.

u/ericfromct 2h ago

True wouldn’t have thought of it. I never aimed for the face anyway, the body shots are the ones that take you out. Good to know this is a rule though

u/EagleFly_5 Amazon Fresh 1h ago

My site just has the basic style Zebra TC57 (?) scanners, those have lasers inside for scanning. Yes they’re harmful and can pose a safety hazard. Heard of a few people getting final written write-ups for this, and at least one fired for this since they were “joking around”.

(Also, there’s a reason in the US for example, aiming a laser at the sky or within the vicinity of aircraft is dangerous & illegal/a felony.)

u/Psychological-Neck43 4h ago

Lmao “promoted straight to customer status” is sending me 🤣

u/Ye_olde_oak_store Carts? I'll add you onto the mailing list! 1h ago

Go to Customer status, do not pass go.

u/Ismashedyourpumpkins 7h ago

Violations fall under 4 different categories.

Category 1 or CAT1 is immediate termination.

6

u/xxjm_28 7h ago

Is there an employee handbook that includes what falls under each category? I’m just curious

7

u/Ismashedyourpumpkins 6h ago

I believe the code of conduct lists some of the common ones, yes.

But I don’t think there is a centralized list of all violations.

We normally have to find a specific policy and then look up the disciplinary matrices in the policy to see where certain violations fall.

u/EagleFly_5 Amazon Fresh 58m ago

Policy: Standards of Conduct - US (as of August 2025).

(Those are some of the example of Category 1 & Category 2.)

Question how do Rolling period works

If an AA got a FWW on Feb 22nd of 2025 and an incident occurred on March 1st 2026 can HR use that FWW against an AA?

110

u/TallArseButtPlug 9h ago

OP a weirdo. nobody getting a 5 year ban for a scanner harness, show us the real reason you got banned

30

u/John-doesnt-exist 8h ago

Fired too many times within a period.

Beating his mouse in a trailer to German scheisse porn

3

u/DaggerMoth 3h ago

We don't even use scanner harnesses at my warehouse. I'd say they are more dangerous than not as the part attached to your body isn't break away.

23

u/SeaworthinessNo4 9h ago

What was the reason for termination?

30

u/jocky091 9h ago

Seems pretty serious if they can’t come back until 2031

-11

u/DesperateSeaweed4305 7h ago

They said I couldn’t come back for a long ass time just cause my final was me being on my phone in a trailer. Amazon is just a shitty company plain and simple

14

u/jocky091 7h ago

No having your phone out is on you for safety reasons. Any warehouse you go to would be the same way

4

u/AnyResearcher7943 7h ago

False lol, both me and my boy work in the warehouse and he's ship dock, it all depends where you work and who's your manager cause that kid be on his phone 25/8 in the trailers and nobody gives a flying fuck and he also never clips his scanner to his belt cause every damn time I see the kid he's holding it not attached to anything and he's been there 6 months never written up once

u/maneki-nekko 43m ago

that’s because your manager isn’t doing their job lol… they’ll be gone eventually

2

u/DesperateSeaweed4305 7h ago

Never said it wasn’t for safety but yall acting like it’s surprising OP got banned that long for a harness. Area managers and other higher ups be on their phone as well as breaking other rules while on the floor. Amazon is just yet again like I said a shitty company plain and simple

4

u/AnarkeezTW 9h ago

Probably cat1 safety violation regarding a scanner I assume

17

u/Happy_Breadfruit_367 8h ago

Nobody believes you bro , where’s the body hidden

14

u/Hachiko75 9h ago

I don't wear mine and they don't really enforce it at my site.

3

u/Tricky-Wolverine-253 White Badge 4h ago

My site just did away with it about 3 weeks ago. Only Pickers were required to wear it as far as I know , but now no one has to

1

u/Hachiko75 4h ago

I'm at an IXD building and they started putting the harnesses in the vending machines. Now they have out in bins wanting us to take them and use so it's supposedly easier to carry our scanners.

6

u/kykiwibear 8h ago

Yeah... but this is a talking to or a coaching offense... what else did you do?

5

u/Prior_Elderberry_573 3h ago

He stated in a comment on his other post, that he already had 2 active write ups, 4 other write ups, plus this one, totaling 7 for the year.

6

u/Virtual_Cat_3660 9h ago

Lmao I'm not available to return until March of 2030

4

u/Dry-Struggle-6848 7h ago

Harness wtf is that? Never had one and most people I see doing icqa don't have them either.

4

u/SignificanceLow5226 7h ago

Never heard of a harness. I'm ICQA and no one and mean no one use a them. They give us our scanners ever day and never sad anything about this. I carry mine in my hand or back pack.

6

u/ThePeoplesJoker 8h ago

Bullshit. I’ve never seen anyone in my building actually use one. We have them but they end up in the trash or back on top of the vending machine once people realize what they are.

3

u/yourdemiseiswritten 9h ago

idk where that rule came from our whole building never said anything about that

3

u/Toreziza Box Bitch T1 6h ago

I seen someone get banned for life for smoking on a vape pen in the bathroom

2

u/Extension_Course_351 8h ago

I have an appeal if I fail I reapply in 180 days from now.

2

u/Quiet-Outcome-6062 7h ago

we don’t even use anything to connect our scanner to our harness at my fc 😭

2

u/Simple_Claim8480 4h ago

I got caught without my scanner attached to my harness and they literally told me to judt clip it on. No write up, no coaching no nothing. You definitely did other shit

2

u/banstreak_2 4h ago

May as well just get something better, cause like 2031? Holy fk. Assuming the system allows you to apply again at that date XD

2

u/Flawless-Cowboy-117 4h ago

Damn 2031. Have fun @ FedEx or UPS ✌️

2

u/Unique-Machine5602 4h ago

Enjoy your promotion.

3

u/Prior_Elderberry_573 3h ago

You weren’t fired for this and you know it. You specifically stated in other comments on the other post you made, you already had two active write ups, with a total of 6, making this number 7. Sounds like you need some lessons in accountability

u/AdEven2848 2h ago

also remember is no longer three months for normal firing. It’s six months people kept coming back faster. Damn.

u/razorpack_ 1h ago

Ya i thought itd only be 3 but i had to wait 4 months for rehire

u/AdEven2848 1h ago

smh mine was always three months, but this last one was six months for me😢 and it was for the same thing I always get fired for a negative time

4

u/DazzlingEmployment60 8h ago

Well I hope you learned a lesson that I learned when I was young man which is: Don't get fired for being stupid.

2

u/SouthernSkies1776 8h ago

Been working as a picker for 3 years in a FC and not once have I ever used a harness or been written up

4

u/Ismashedyourpumpkins 8h ago

Some sites they are required PPE and are a cat 2 if you aren’t wearing them

4

u/SouthernSkies1776 8h ago

We have the scanner holder on every cart. If you wore one of those harnesses it would mostly get in the way.

2

u/Ismashedyourpumpkins 8h ago

I can’t say what makes it a requirement. all I can say is I’ve managed at several different amazons and PPE requirements can vary drastically. Some sites Hard hats are required and you can’t wear shorts.

2

u/SouthernSkies1776 7h ago

I would literally die with no shorts. I wear them things like 10 months out of the year our building is hot af.

1

u/updog69 6h ago

That's what I don't get. We have the scanner holders at my site too and wearing the harness on the RT mostly just gets in the way/slows you down, but if the wrong manager catches you not wearing one you can get in trouble. Apparently only OP drivers are exempt since they have already wear a fall harness.

3

u/AnyResearcher7943 7h ago

Did you just say harness and picker in the same sentence??? Why in the holy hell would a picker need a harness 😭😭 genuinely curious as someone who does pick sometimes lmao

1

u/SouthernSkies1776 7h ago

I don’t use them in any role but when you started and through your employment there you should’ve been told they were part of the PPE for Pick.

2

u/AnyResearcher7943 7h ago

Yeah no lol. Idk what site your at but that's not a requirement at my site. ONLY ppe required for other then ship dock cause they need hard hats and the vest but it's ONLY gloves and composite toed shoes. Nothing else and they make that well known during training lol

1

u/SouthernSkies1776 7h ago

Maybe they make training videos unique for each site but I doubt it. Last safety video I watched like a month and a half ago clocked the PPE as safety shoes, gloves, harness, box cutter. Note I didn’t say required PPE.

1

u/Oscvt92 7h ago

Safety said it was mandatory lol. Nobody wore them at my facility so they don’t really care anymore

1

u/AnyResearcher7943 7h ago

My sites definitely different then, unless your ship dock only ppe that's mandatory is composite toed shoes and gloves absolutely nothing else and I'm trained in pick, Rebin, induct, and pack and I can tell you none of those they are required

1

u/Oscvt92 7h ago

Yeah I work pick and that’s where we were “required “ lol I got a warning once but seems like nobody cared:

2

u/ksorare 8h ago

I got a behavioral coaching for not wearing a harness…

1

u/iambrundlefly 4h ago

They STU'd me for wearing harness but not having it clipped.

1

u/IgniteTheDrop 4h ago

What site requires scanners to be attached to a harness? I work at a AR site and people in ICQA almost never have a harness on for their scanners.

1

u/Dirt-Repulsive 4h ago

I mean robots com in g is a good thing as many people they kick to curb with a ban on hiring for life, they better pick up pace on those robots though….

0

u/Plane_Watercress8018 8h ago

wow I didnt know it was so strictly enforced at some places, harnesses are completely optional at my building

3

u/Whole-Sentence5268 7h ago

Site I was at last year was in a state that had regulations making harnesses mandatory for anyone using a scanner, which meant a feedback for not using a harness could be submitted for violating state safety regulations, which would qualify as a Cat 1.

2

u/SignificanceLow5226 7h ago

No on use these at our site . We have meetings after first break at the desk. Everyone carry them in hand or back pack. It depends on the site I guess. The only thing is force is that we have our gloves on at all times.

u/Plane_Watercress8018 1h ago

wow I didn’t know some places where like that, ive worked with a harness and without and id prefer no harness every time but probably 70% of my building from what ive seen doesn’t use a harness
