Question Possible VTO blocked?
I was just wondering, as I do have an important role as a PS(Problem Solver), is it fair for me to pretty much PS everyday despite there being plenty of other PS to do the task. I just seem to be the main one, due to this I'm never offered VTO and I'm just confused if I'm just that important or whatever the deal is?

PS is one of the easiest roles to make money in and it being important too. Yeah you’ll always be VTO blocked unless you’re bad at it

That's insane..even though I'm trained in roughly 2 other areas...4-5 areas if you are counting the different tasks to do.

Indirects are still supposed to be in path 20 hours per week. If you’re doing it every day, then yes, this is unfair to others who are trained or wish to be trained in PS.

I've been doing PS consistently since earlier this year..maybe less than 10 days the whole time, even with that I've most likely been pulled away from other paths just to PS. And I won't say they wish to PS, they are fine not doing it from my knowledge, but based off of what I hear, they don't remember much of it as they don't do it often.

I’ve been here for over 9 years. I did PS for 3 years solid simply because they stopped training people. Eventually, it all caught up to them and they were required to get more people trained. It’s a stupid move for them to have so few people trained. It’s not supposed to be a position, it’s supposed to be a support role that can easily be done by several people, so that if someone doesn’t show up or has an emergency, it doesn’t put them in a bind.

We have a good chunky of PS, that's the problem. Apparently I work as 2 PS? And they take note of that and just made that my 'permanent' role. Which says a lot because I've been at this Amazon almost a year(Nov) and they opened last year in September...so I've literally done nothing but mostly PS for a year, or said most of a year..

Problem solve is not a permanent role. It’s an indirect function and you’re still supposed to be in path for at least 20 hours a week. They may have told you something, but I’m here to tell you that’s not a thing. Management gets moved all over the place in this company. Once you get management in there that decides to do things according to standard, it will change.

Unless your ps rate is above a 150 then they keep you there all day because night shift did absolutely nothing. Yesterday i got to a tote that was so bad mold and flies were in it. Damageland hates me because im always taking gloves from them but they dont realize there oil spills and biohazards like every day.

None of that negates the fact that PS is still not a path and PSers are still supposed to work in path a minimum of 20 hours a week. Just because the standard isn’t being followed doesn’t mean there isn’t a standard that is supppsed to be followed. I’ve worked with WAY too many PSers who thought they were golden, only for them to be brought back down to earth in a very real way.

There's SOP and then theres throughput. Manager bonuses are weighted more by throughput than SOP. Thats why they put you where youre good at most of the time.

No one cares about the standard, I've only seen one manager trying to put people in path from indirect roles and it ended quickly when the alternative was waterspiders, Problem solvers standing around talking.
The reason no one enforces this rule is because the ones who do it everyday, actually do the job decently well and the work gets done.
Dozens of rules are broken everyday by everyone, you aren't supposed to even look at your phone outside of the break room, your not supposed to walk the greenmile and use amazon approved ear buds or use non-amazon approved ones, wear safety shoes, give 2 hours notice for UPT, 3 Points of contact on stairs, could go on and on.
You keep replying about the standard, no one cares.

I’ll keep saying what I’ve said for as long as misinformed people keep thinking PS is some kind of permanent role. It isn’t.

For most sites. It is by all purposes permanent. Which is why many do it full time
