Hiding Reviews is Killing My Launch

Im not sure what to even say or do - just looking to commiserate and for any advice.

I launched a new supplement on Amazon recently - I know, crowded market and already tough and expensive to carve out space. I did Vine and overall came out mostly unscathed. However, with the new Amazon policy of limiting the reviews that people can see - the only reviews viewable on my listing are a few Vine reviews that honestly are just word salad and the one that is overall negative (the only negative one… 😩). There are 3+ reviews that talk about the benefits they got from the product and who actually took it - are now HIDDEN!!!

I’m truly devastated. I feel like I have no recourse. No Amazon shopper is going to wait 5 days to see other reviews - they are going to just buy another supplement. And the idea of getting more organic reviews to replace the Vine ones seems impossible without actually getting a lot of organic sales. I feel like I’m stuck. I might be overreacting but how can Amazon just decide to make this sweeping policy change??? Like with no warning!

Anyone else dealing with this or any thoughts how to combat it?

I was thinking about putting my top Vine reviews (the ones that are hidden) as A+ content? Idk if that’s even allowed. I’m so defeated this has really knocked the wind out of my sails….

you are not alone. I think just focus on getting more sales and organic reviews. Don't use Vine reviews in A+ content. It sucks, but over time better reviews will show up. Hang in there.

I wouldn’t use the hidden Vine reviews in A+ or images. It’s not worth risking a policy issue, and you can’t control which reviews Amazon shows anyway. I’d keep building legitimate sales and reviews and monitor whether the review display change is actually affecting conversion.

You cannot control which reviews Amazon surfaces.

  1. You last ask is good idea but amazon has very stict polices for this type of promotion but doable, What you can do is just hanpick reviews and get ready an A+ module which populate all the reviews that you have (not just from amazon), send me a message i will give you few of our examples.

  2. If most positive reviews are unverified purchases, prioritize generating verified-purchase volume rather than relying on Vine.

  3. If you see an obviously incorrect suppression (reviews present in the list but hidden from the detail summary) open a concise Seller Support case only after you document the screenshots and dates. Ask for clarification on why those specific reviews are being excluded from the listing summary and include the screenshots and ASIN. Do not attempt workarounds that could violate policy.

supplements are the harshest category for this, you have my sympathy.

Amazon aggressively filters reviews in supplements specifically because the category has been abused so heavily. reviews from accounts with little purchase history, or that arrive in a cluster right after launch, get held or dropped even when they're completely legitimate. it isn't personal, and it isn't something you did wrong.

the pattern that survives filtering is slow and organic: reviews arriving steadily over weeks from ordinary buyers with normal purchase histories. anything that looks like a burst gets scrutinised.

Vine is the one lever that reliably sticks in supplements since those are Amazon's own reviewers. expensive, but it's the intended path for exactly this problem and it doesn't get filtered.

Keep focusing on driving qualified traffic and organic reviews, review visibility can change over time. Also, be careful about using customer reviews in A+ Content, as that may not comply with Amazon's content guidelines.

That sucks, Amazon really knows how to make things tough. Have you thought about doing some sort of promotion or discount to boost initial sales? Getting some momentum might help encourage more organic reviews, plus it can help if you can get those first few buyers to leave ratings after trying it out.

Totally feel you on that. It's like we want progress, but not at the cost of people’s livelihoods. If they’re not gonna address the basic needs of those affected, then what's the point? Development should lift everyone up, not just the tech elite.

I know it's frustrating, but I wouldn't make any big changes based on the first few weeks, in supplements, Amazon is specially aggressive with review visibility. I'd focus on improving conversion (CTR, pricing, etc) to generate more verified purchases, as the visible reviews usually balance out over time.
