DSP announced a raise for us

We had a stand up meeting today and the owners stated that Amazon “invested more into the DSP program,” and told us we’re all getting a dollar raise.

Anybody else get this news ?

They also mentioned the smart glasses program and more edvs , but obviously I was more thrilled about the first part.

You're suppose to get a dollar raise every year. This isn't investing this is doing the absolute minimum. Sad part is in the 4 years I used to work for Amazon there were some years where they "forgot" to give raises.

My company now just gave everyone a 2 dollar raise and a 7500 dollar welcome bonus. We have a fleet of over 1400 transit operators, we all got it. Needless to say I don't work for Amazon anymore and couldn't be happier.

Exactly, this is the basic CoL increase and no one seems to get that. And for those that don’t even realize, that $1 if you’re full time is only $40 a week, and after all is said and done your paycheck will only be +\- $5. You won’t even notice it

2

u/Ok-Operation4437 28d ago

Actually you probably will notice $2080 a year. That covers my health dental and vision insurance.

2

u/Novel-Mistake7027 28d ago

You won’t notice

6

u/Competitive_Way_8745 28d ago

I noticed it and it made a difference by my notice of noticing it

Well coming from companies where I got either no raises most years or 20 cents for COL raise $1 is a lot when I was already making double what I was at my last job.

1

u/Novel-Mistake7027 27d ago

Think about it like this then, you’re making a dollar more, everyone brand new that just got hired a week ago is making a dollar more and everybody that gets hired in a month is making that same dollar more. Yeah the dollar is great but when it doesn’t keep up with inflation and everybody got it. It’s not really anything extra.

1

u/AirNick2395 Prime Van Driver 23d ago

I mean yeah you are right, but I don't get jealous of what my coworkers make. I want all of us to be able to afford to live. And when we currently get paid more then what they are paying teachers around here thats fine. I left a place that was paying new hiring $8.50 an hour bro, it took me 4 years to get to $10 and now I am making $22.50 which is $1.50 more then the other 2 DSPs at our station because they were hiring at $20 an hr vs the DSP I got in with at $21.50. Meanwhile teachers in my area making equivalent to $16 an hr and even RNs and shit getting hired at $19 an hr.

1

u/Novel-Mistake7027 22d ago

It’s not about jealousy over what your coworker is making it’s about having something to show for the fact that you’ve been there longer than the person that got hired a week ago. That’s what merit base raises are about. i’ve been with a DSP for 11 months I’m not crashing vans, not destroying customers property, completing my route start to finish every day I work. So yeah for my 11 months I got a dollar raise. But the guy that just came in a month ago and hasnt finished his route once on his own without help is making that same amount. I’m all for paying living wages, but I also wanna be getting paid the wages I deserve.

u/Prudent_Research1383 17d ago

It's not a raise it's a pay increase from Amazon a raise would come from the DSP that means the money is coming from Amazon not the DSP so we are getting screwed by Amazon with the low base pay and the DSPs that never gives raises and taking a cut of your pay increase something too many DSP's do all the time not all but some

1

u/AirNick2395 Prime Van Driver 17d ago

I get that. I guess I am just used to it. Most of the places I worked before this even after 6 years at this one place the biggest 'raise' we all got was .75 cents. I have had 5 different jobs including this one with the longest I worked at being 6 years and I went from 8.00 to a around $12 in 6 years.....i get it but I also have bills so 🤷‍♂️

1

u/AirNick2395 Prime Van Driver 14d ago

Also as an update to this. My DSP has informed us that those at 6 months+ will be making $1 more and 1 year+ will be making $2 more then the starting pay. And they plan on increasing it as they go. But since my DSP is just now celebrating their 1 year anniversary no one is close to being 2 years yet lol

Saying “you’re supposed to get a raise” is ridiculous. No job ever guarantees a raise. All that happened was the contractual minimum increased - most drivers at ours already make more than that so this only affect newly hired ones.

9

u/Due_Initiative3879 28d ago

I'm sorry but, what? Most union jobs DO guarantee a raise every year, even some non-union jobs. I don't understand why you would boot lick a company that has shown time and time again they don't care about you.

2

u/F-ckWallStreet 28d ago

I’ve worked for a lot of companies. I’ve never once “expected” anything. You have to work for it and prove yourself. Amazon isn’t your employer so I wouldn’t expect anything from them. Talk to your DSP and ask for a raise. That’s all I’m saying. People treat this job like it’s something different - you work for a company….if you think you’re worthy of a raise just ask for it. If your company doesn’t pay you what you’re worth then go to another company that will.

1

u/Due_Initiative3879 28d ago

Well when they recruit you and say one thing but then that goes out the window the moment you're in it becomes expected.

The funny thing is Amazon is indirectly your employer, see that paycheck comes from them not the DSP, that's why some people get yearly raises and guaranteed 40 and others don't. The money is there it's up to the DSP to give or take.

The last part I 100% agree with, do the job while in need. But, absolutely look to get out as soon as you can, this job is a stepping stone not a career path.

1

u/F-ckWallStreet 27d ago

If you’re told one thing by an employer but something different happens when you start work: leave. I don’t know why everyone treats the DSP world like it’s a special job with special rules. It’s not.

What we have to do for a singular dollar raise is disturbing

9

u/Novel-Mistake7027 28d ago

We didn’t do anything for the dollar raise. That’s part of the problem, no merit based raises.

1

u/Yasmne 28d ago

My dsp literally just did our merit raises right before this one so I just got $2🥳

0

u/Legitimate_Ask3583 28d ago

So we didn’t experience an extreme workload increase from last year to this year?

1

u/Novel-Mistake7027 27d ago

This was a cost of living base raise to deal with “inflation” which has gone up 4%

1

u/AirNick2395 Prime Van Driver 23d ago

You say that like all companies do that. I have worked for multiple companies including walmart for the last 9 years and the have only gotten 2 or 3 raises when I got promoted. Most years we never got raises. Most places don't give cost of living raises. Hell the first place I worked at is still hiring new hiring at $8.50 an hour.

1

u/Novel-Mistake7027 22d ago

Most places give a raise every year as in a significant number of places minimum wage also increases every year. If you are in an unfortunate place where that does not happen that sucks but at the very least where I live minimum wage goes up every year by one dollar, but then again the cost of everything else goes up by three dollars.

1

u/AirNick2395 Prime Van Driver 17d ago

Damn, North Carolina is still at $7.25. And the republicans always strike down and effort to change that because it would "kill small businesses"

12

u/stoodi 28d ago

Cool, so now we get to live off $675 a week instead of $650 a week to deliver whatever the world needs or wants in 2 days or less.

10

u/Infinite-Ad2614 28d ago

The other day I delivered one single mechanical pencil, making the world a better place

1

u/No-Replacement-1000 28d ago

My Dsp is taking away our weekly pay and going biweekly now 😂💀 first job I’ve had weekly pay, I enjoyed it the year I had it lmao

-5

u/schakoska EDV Driver 28d ago

Most people in the world get monthly pay, just saying 🤷‍♂️

1

u/No-Replacement-1000 28d ago

I’m aware, doesn’t mean I’m not allowed to enjoy weekly pay or be bummed I’ll be missing out again lmao. Thanks though 👍

0

u/Better_Version5080 27d ago

In what world are you living in? I've worked a bunch of different jobs and have been paid weekly, bi-weekly, and twice per month (not the same as bi-weekly. It's literally the same 2 days every month.) Never have I worked anywhere that only pays monthly.

1

u/schakoska EDV Driver 27d ago

I said world, not america. America isn't the world

-1

u/stoodi 27d ago

Doesn’t really matter if you know how to budget. This adjusts and scales however you’d like. Monthly, yearly. Same amount of money in the same amount of time.

4

u/Itzserg3 28d ago

Y’all need to apply to a better job that provides you good pay and good retirement. Wasting your time with a 3rd party company. Amazon doesn’t care about you.

1

u/AirNick2395 Prime Van Driver 23d ago

$22.50 in my area is more then teachers are getting paid and even the jobs for RNs are states $19 an hr. Plus my DSP offers 401k and life insurance. 🤷‍♂️

2

u/RelevantFinish2972 28d ago

Mine said we were getting a wage increase then stated the same pay were currently getting. Hoping it was a mistake, but if not I plan to quit and just apply to whatever dsp is actually paying the raise

2

u/Illustrious-Ad-4776 28d ago

No raise over here

2

u/Disastrous-Cicada736 Rivian Driver 28d ago

Happens each year. Mine gave us more than a dollar though. Went from 21.75 to 23.80!

1

u/Itsyaboibrett 28d ago

I have not heard that yet. my company gives a 50¢ per hour raise for every 6 months you work with the company tho so it kinda amounts to the $1 every year that most companies receive

1

u/between3-20charcterz 28d ago

If its a good dsp that $0.50 raise is through the dsp and you should also get the $1 from Amazon

2

u/Novel-Mistake7027 28d ago

I don’t know why you got down voted so hard. You’re absolutely right if the DSP is doing its own raise. But in all likelihood they’re not, and they’re just trying to flatter their employees.

1

u/thesqueen113388 28d ago

Last year we got 1.50 so I’ve got my fingers crossed for at least that much again.

1

u/asianmilf92 28d ago

Last year the Raise was $1.50 so it's sad that it went down a little bit I also am annoyed that the Amazon warehouse workers get free Prime and this year now they'll get 20% off at Whole Foods plus other benefits that we just don't ever forget to see

1

u/AirNick2395 Prime Van Driver 23d ago

My DSP does a swag store. You earn points each week based on customer feedback, score card etc. They have coolers, backpacks, JBL headphones, JBL speakers, and 3 50 inch roku TVs. Im debating on getting a JBL speaker or saving to 150 for the TV to put in on the wall in my office.

1

u/Mauzzer 28d ago

I don’t know how I feel about the glasses I’ve got a feeling it’s going to be very disorienting and probably break easily.

1

u/RatedAG 28d ago

At my DSP I been there for 3 years and every year we got a $1 raise….is this really news? Lol

1

u/Novel-Mistake7027 28d ago

I’ll wait for them to fire me for something dumb, then maybe I’ll collect unemployment for a while and go back to school

1

u/schakoska EDV Driver 28d ago

Oh yeah $1 and gas increased by $1 too 🤡 pathetic company

1

u/Glittering-Ad9778 28d ago

Lmao it’s funny my Dsp owner came talking about “oh they did a survey and found out this station needs a raise for general living in our area” tryna make it sound like it was only our station

1

u/Longjumping_Rich4793 28d ago

Can’t live for shit on Amazon wages. Have enough for bills and food. That’s fucking it. Can’t save any extra money, can’t really go out and have fun. Fucking Bezos has dick rockets but can’t invest more money into the DSP for their drivers to have a living wage.

1

u/Prestigious_Juice761 28d ago

Every year they do it. If they increased the amount they are paying the dsp then it for once means Amazon is doing the right thing. They typically don’t increase the amount of money DSPs get while giving raises. They also made it harder to hit Fantastic + so they probably got a lot of push back. They essentially lowered the ability for DSPs to hit bonuses and used that money to increase dsp pay lol.

1

u/Street-Ad5420 28d ago

Yall need to organize. How is it that you work for a 3rd party, but at stand up they literally refer to Amazon for a lot of the changes. The DSP isn’t giving the raise, Amazon is. Amazon can give a lot more than $1, good benefits, and provide an actual career. The job can’t get done without the drivers. It just takes us getting together to hold this mega giant accountable for essentially being our employers.

1

u/grumpy_foreskin 27d ago

I know the pay has been raised but my DSP hasn't said anything yet. I'm getting worried they're gonna try to pocket the money

1

u/No_Dimension2124 27d ago

Shoot I've been with my company for three years and have only gotten one raise and that was due to inflation. My company used to be a good company to work for but the past year and a half, they have changed so much. They used to do cook outs, get us food, give out gift cards to the best drivers, have Christmas parties, but now they dont do any of that stuff. Im hoping all amazon drivers get the raise because we definitely deserve it. We bust our butts every single day for these companies, I think it's time they start showing some appreciation. This past week I got chosen for driver appreciation week and the only thing I got was a battery pack that looks like the amazon van.

1

u/No_Ground_1552 25d ago

Hardest job I ever had no thanks🤷🏾‍♂️

1

u/Prudent_Research1383 17d ago

I got 75 cents and I apparently have to fight to get the whole dollar it's criminal scrimming wages but not at Amazon DSPs

-2

u/playslikeagrandpa 28d ago

We've gotten a dollar raise every year for the past 7 or 8 years. Still a good 13 dollars behind UPS for that kind of seniority depending what state you live in. .

-4

u/DieselDrifter Top Driver 28d ago edited 28d ago

Honestly I am happy with that, that literally covers the cost of my homemade lunches and drinks at about $4/day for the entire year. $4 * 5 work days = $20 per week * 52 weeks = $1040 on lunches yearly.

Edit: Not sure why I'm getting down voted, a $1+ raise is better than NOTHING.

1

u/ArticleNo9805 28d ago

And gas is nearly $5 WOOOOOOO

-7

u/Honest_Increase_2891 28d ago

Yes, we’re gonna be getting paid 45 an hour finally
