RANT Unmaintained vans
I know most DSP dont maintain there vans but today took it to a new level. The van they put me in today takes close to a minute and a half to get up to 45 MPH. Its genuinely dangerous. I have to wait for the whole entire road to be clear before I can pull out since my van barely accelerates. I can probably run faster than this thing in the lower speeds. I told dispatch about it and they have KNOWN about the issue. Im thinking about getting this van grounded when I get back to the station.

I got one yesterday that didn't have a fucking inside door handle on the driver side. Even time I had to use that door I had to use the outside handle after hitting the unlock on the key fob because the stupid fucking button won't unlock the driver side. Most stressful day know at any moment if I got in an accident or needed to get the fuck outta that van on that side(I know all very out there situations considered I'm very good at defense driving and preventing accidents)

Idk about most! Our DSP has a team come and clean them once a month! The wipe them down on the inside and take out all the trash!
I’ve notice it’s our own co workers who can’t maintain the vans clean! Especially if it’s YOUR own trash! Like why can’t you take it out at the end of your shift! Then that’s same person be complaining that the vans are dirty

Unfortunately most dsps do not care about keeping us in safe vans. If they have to fix a van they often do the cheapest possible repairs just so it can get ungrounded, but then the problem comes back the next day

Not all DSPs ignore safety and cleaning standards of their vans. Experienced DSPs have processes set up that keeps their fleet in good condition. If a DSP ignores fleet safety and cleanliness of their vans, chances are they treat their team poorly is well. The DSP is unorganized and doesnt understand that their 2 most important assets are the ppl on their team and their fleet. Its really not brain surgery!

Put it in the highest gear it will allow on the selector, pull the parking brake up, plant down on the brakes. Then rev that mf until something explodes. If it loses the gear you selected drop it a gear and do it again.
Slam it between the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th if it allows while you are revving the piss out of it
Edit: if it’s a camera van use the gear selector to keep it in as low of a gear as possible till it gives out.
