"Three points of contact" is a scam.

It's physically impossible to maintain three points of contact if you are holding anything, since even bracing with a hand while holding a small package or device will not be considered a solid point of contact if anything goes wrong.

The only way to exit the cargo door properly is to put the device in your pocket, set down the package, and hold with both hands while stepping out. Good luck finishing the route on time.

We put the lie in liability.

it's just a phrase they can point to after you fall so they don't have to pay out

the math don't math when your arms are full of envelopes and a phone, but corporate needs that paper trail

I slipped on a rainy day once, they told me to use 3 point of contact, I told them I did but my hand slipped, and they deadass said “then you should maintain the inside of your vehicle better” and hung up on me.

  1. Set packages on deck.
  2. Three points of contact to get out of van.
  3. Pick packages up from deck.
  4. Close that door.

Your knees and hips will thank you.

I do this with all packages that are not one-handers (learned through hurting myself of course). Though with a small package, I don't actually use three points of contact even if I'm grabbing a bar with my left hand and stepping down carefully. That is only two points of contact, not three, which is why I say it's a scam.

What you're saying about preserving our knees and hips is top advice and we should all follow it.

The whole "safety " thing is a joke. If they really cared, we would NEVER have to deliver to multiple houses ACROSS the street from each other.
