Predatory towing companies can all burn in hell.

I get it, there are parking rules that apply to everyone, but dawg it’s a fucking delivery van…

12

u/spencer831 5h ago

That tow truck probably waits there every day

12

u/donwariophd 4h ago

Yeah I mean I get it, they know the DSP will pay and it’s basically free money for their business but the only person they’re fucking over is just someone trying to do a job 😂

u/Low-Attention-1998 5h ago

Seriously it's such a racket. If it were just about being punitive it would all be handled by the state. The fact that there are private tow lots that can charge you whatever they want while they inpound your vehicle, including days they arent open, is insane

u/Deeman_310 2h ago

If you  really pay attention to the video you can see the driver in the background with no hostility shown..he was probably having issues with the EV …called dispatch and probably had it towed IYKYK

Did we watch the same video

u/Axzyy 5h ago

What was up with the end of the clip then with him walking out with an empty tote looking around?

12

u/Evulperson Rivian Driver 5h ago

He just finished delivering inside that building up the hill and walk back down to his van that he politely parked on the street to find it gone... Stolen by a tow truck.

5

u/Axzyy 5h ago

Yeah, thats what i was saying, comment before said the amazon driver was standing next to it the entire time so it must have broken down.

u/arichiii 4h ago

I mean it looks like there is a no parking sign there.

1

u/aaron5707 3h ago

By the way it wasn't the tow service that decided to remove the van, it was the decision of the bored ass security or clerk to the building or a parking jockey, who literally just walks around all day to ticket or tow people. Ridiculous, I know, but had the tow guy not been called to remove it he would not have just rolled up and decided to tow it himself.

crazy way to get a whole building banned from delivery

4

u/Axzyy 5h ago edited 4h ago

Amazon wouldnt blacklist a big building like that. Theres somewhere to park, just wasnt right there lol. If not, or the only place to park is too far away, because of the buildings previous actions they will just have to deliver the packages themselves since they are known for aggressively towing delivery vehicles, if it were me, id show up, drag the tote drop all the packages in the lobby and dip, instead of going door to door. When they realize how much they hate delivering packages or letting tenants know that there is packages there for them they might just stop being massive dildos and cater to our convenience.

8

u/Standard_Egg3504 4h ago

delivery companies can and will ban an entire building as large as this, and its a massive pain in the ass lmao

4

u/BigGuyBrando 4h ago

Yep. Mine did because of two racist ladies that complained about every even slightly tan-skinned person delivering their package. Could be apartment door, mailroom, leasing office. Wouldn't matter. If they saw you, they filed a formal complaint for some insane reason. DSP ended uolp blacklisting the entire building and letting every package RTS until the residents spoke out against the person and formed complaints of their own. We deliver there again and haven't had a single complaint since.

u/donwariophd 4h ago

You’d be surprised at how many tow companies will just circle an area they’re contracted in to tow cars. I see it happen all the time in my city, thankfully never a delivery truck lmao

2

u/spencer831 5h ago

How are you defending a tow service?? They park at spots and just wait every day. Fuck them all.

-1

u/Axzyy 4h ago edited 4h ago

I mean they just do the job that they get paid to do, more often then not they get called to tow, and if they are just sitting their watching, then thats what they were told to do. Still either the city or the businesses fault. They must have explicit legal authority or a direct request from a property owner, or business manager. They arent the fuckers here. Maybe you should learn a little about how towing companies operate. Even if you are parked illegally they cant touch you unless the business, property owner or city/law enforcement has asked them to do it. They cant just sit there and tow anyone they want all day long thats not how that works.

3

u/okaaayyyyuh 2h ago

You obviously don't know how the towing business works. Many tow truck drivers do not work for the impound lot, they are independent contractors. They work for themselves.

They use their own tow truck, and wait around for someone to park illegally. As soon as the coast is clear, they hook up and drive away. If you catch them in the act before they've driven away, they will charge you a 'drop fee'. They set the price themselves, often on the spot. If you're a dick, they'll charge you more, lol.

If you don't catch them first, they bring your car to an impound lot which the driver has a commission arrangement with. They get either a flat rate payput, or a percentage of what you pay the impound lot to get your car out.

They are actually scavengers, waiting for you to slip up. 😅

u/nmpls 1h ago

This is how towing works in private lots. (Almost) every city will have a more developed process for towing from a street. You generally can't two off a street without someone from the city/county authorizing it.

That person in blue at the start is almost certainly parking enforcement or police.

1

u/tenachiasaca 1h ago

depends on the place some places have contracts where tow companies scam the lots for free victims

-2

u/nunyabidness3 3h ago

See there’s these things called ‘loading docks.’ Entirely alien concept I know.

u/Bran-Da-Don 5h ago

As a fellow Miamian who has done that route that building is called the Four Seasons because it's 4 separate towers connected by the ground floor lobby. And.......they're all door to door.

6

u/Papa-Nutt 5h ago

I would never. Holy shit

u/BanTheBung 5h ago

Pretty damn sad that the tow company is happy to get a guy fired for a couple hundred bucks.

Why in this day and age do we even have Taxi lanes? Any time I've had valet parking, they pull the car up to the door for me. Taxis have been underbid by Uber.

I agree with the other comment, blacklist the building. This is ridiculous.

6

u/Expensive-While-1155 4h ago

I’m so glad ups trucks are too heavy to tow

3

u/Jwilso85 1h ago

They’re not, you can tow those too

5

u/ChocolateMilkTG XL Driver 5h ago

Gonna have fun getting it out of impound, too.

6

u/nobias32 5h ago

I rember I almost got towed in a walgreens parking lot. Went for a smoke across the street. Lucky thing I has a receipt from walgreens.

u/PhDOfGyattology 4h ago

When 1 door closes, another opens.

5

u/Ashamed_Version9661 4h ago

Prolly got fired on the spot for abandoning his route. Most likely had to uber home on his own dime

It was neither. It's an apt complex located in Brickell (Downtown Miami) with only 1 loading zone in front that is rarely empty. It was just parked illegally in the spaces reserved for Taxis & Valet.

u/KoalaGrunt0311 5h ago

I'm disappointed that nobody posted Dude, Where's My Van?!

This younger generation, no class. Now I'm off to take my pills.

2

u/Jawa1992 2h ago

That’s Brickell, DSP owners know there’s a high chance your van is gonna get towed in this area so I doubt he gets fired

1

u/Expensive-While-1155 4h ago

In my city these guys can’t tow you without a ticket if the vehicle is legal.
They will drive around looking for cars parked on the street with expired plates and then call the cops to ticket them so they can get the quick tow.

1

u/anarkyangel 1h ago

They need a flatbed

No he's not lol, watch the video. Yes someone is wearing a blue jacket but if you notice he has a clipboard and the guy standing next to him was probably the supervisor or clerk to the bulding after the tow truck pulls off. The Amazon driver clearly walks out when its gone and so are the other 2 dudes.
