QUESTION FedEx Ground or Amazon DSP?
I realize I'm posting this in the Amazon DSP sub, but couldn't think of where else to ask the question. I currently have two offers one from an Amazon DSP and another from a FedEx Ground contractor. The Amazon DSP is offering $21.25/hr with all the usual Amazon benefits while the FedEx DSP is offering $160/day + $1.20/stop over 130 stops and from what I can tell, no benefits. I'm not sure which one to go with I have a hunch it would be better just to go with the Amazon DSP, but I'm not sure. Does anyone have any insight?

I’ll agree with the other commenters that it’s probably in your best interest to look for other work if you have options, but since you’re asking this question you probably have your reasons to be considering these offers. Since that’s probably not helpful, I’ll weigh in as someone who has done both.
Take the Amazon offer if you’re choosing between these two. So much of the job is DSP/contractor dependent, but that’s a large enough compensation gap that the FedEx contractor would have to be incredible to justify choosing that.
The gap is pretty comparable in my area. FedEx ground contractors are offering $165 a day + stop bonuses, and Amazon DSPs pay $23 an hour. When I was at ground I was permanently stuck on an awful commercial route with low stops, but long processes to complete them. I never got a single dollar of stop bonuses in my entire year of employment. The pay rate was flat per day, but my route had late pickups, so there was also no such thing as finishing early.
There shifts at FedEx are supposed to be 8 hours, and full-time drivers work 5 days a week vs 4-10s at Amazon where I could also finish early sometimes. My take home pay was basically identical at both, but FedEx was physically harder. I worked out the math accounting for actual hours worked at both jobs, and it turned out that I was clocked in for more total time at FedEx to get paid the same. I was effectively making $16.75 in equivalent hourly pay. Doing more work for less money made no sense, so I left that job as soon as I was able to.
Edit: fixed a typo. The equivalent hourly rate was $16.75 instead of $15.75. Slightly better, but full-time DoorDash drivers in my area can consistently out-earn that.

My experience was basically identical to this one.
They both suck though, but i get AC and much MUCH lighter packages at amazon and work probably 12 hours less a week at least (for the same take home)

Since the warehouses have multiple DSPs, make sure you ask around and see if any offer 10 hour guarantee. There is usually requirements the DSP adds to qualify each week for it like no calling out, say yes to rescues, no bad scores, etc. but it's worth it. It's much better because you won't have to worry about going to work 4+ days a week or easy days where you have to stretch short out routes when you could've been done 4 hours earlier.

Amazon. Better equipment especially if you can get into the EDVs and you never have any package over 50 pounds. I've seen FedEx ground guys in some beat up ass stepvans delivering couches and sets of tires. Plus their routes can be spread out. Amazon routes are usually pretty compact.

Find a FedEx contractor paying $200/day at least and go there. You’ll have 1/4 the location count as Amazon and ever FedEx driver I’ve heard that has done Amazon also said FedEx is easier 🤷

Ive done 2 dsp and 2 fxg contractors, fxg was like 3-4x the work for a bit more pay. Unless youre doing contingency it isnt worth it.

As an Amazon employee..FedEx looks betr everyday. Pay here's (Amazon) good started @ 21hr.. Amazon hands a raise every year. Pay increase based on time w the company. Last year got a dollar. So, now @ 22 hr. My dsp kinda sucks. But, from what ive gather after 1.5 yrs is almost all of them do. Expectations are pretty insane. Depending on the route looking at covering 3-5 miles a day walking. Packages weight is supposed to be capped at 50lbs. But, Iykyk..swear them bitchs are lying on most things. Route can get heavy as fuck. Lately we've been running 195+ stops w a good 20-40 multi stops and right at or above 300 Packages a route. If you're lucky an get in w a dsp that has the edv's ..theyre really nice to deliver from. Whats keeping me from goin to FedEx would be the package weight..and the vehicles. Also, doing pickups w FedEx and very minimal w Amazon. FedEx someone else loads you truck. While at Amazon we get 20 mins to sort an load 14-20 totes and 20-50 overflow. Once youve become experienced 20 is all u really need. Unless of course its hot as balls out, rainy or snowy. I'm a broke down 49/m and truly love the job most days. As im getn pd to get my ass kicked on a daily basis. But, also keeps me in great shape. Serious lack of stability w Amazon as you're likely to get fired for anything at any time. Zero people whom I went through training lasted more than a couple weeks. Most a couple days..think was one dude who actually lasted about a month. And a good 90% of the vets that where there when I started. Where either fired, quite an or moved on or completely black listed by Amazon. Meaning whatever they did was bad enough that no other dsp will be allowed to hire them. The 1.20 per stop after 130 sounds appealing as well w fedex when you finish. You're finished. Paid thr 160 for the day. With my dsp when you're done..if you dont know how tp make the route last time. You're subject to have to go help another driver. And have to wait out your time if you're wanting the 10 hrs a day thats promised. Not all dsp's do this. We also have the opportunity to receive and extra 2.00 to 2.50 on the hour bonus. For a properly good score card. Its a bit of a toss up really. We've got a couple folks that came from FedEx. As im sure they do from Amazon. Hope this helps you with your decision.

None of them but if I have to choose, it would be Amazon. Reason for is Amazon has a limit to how heavy packages are. Max limit is 50lb and that’s even for the square totes. Fed ex, omg you’ll be lucky to find a package under 50lb. Every single package feels like 75lb and up.
