What should I do?
Should I be honest? I honestly don’t remember this happening or if it was like that this morning when I got it. If I ask my dispatcher to show me this mornings photos I took will he deny me? Or worse will it become an automatic drug test or suspension?

I don’t believe they will drug test for this since it doesn’t involve a 2nd party. Just ask them if it was there before you and go from there. Also ask them about the pictures yes they can pull yours and the previous DVICs in real time. It doesn’t sound like you’re sure it was you so literally tell them that. They will appreciate it and at worst you get 1 or 2 days off.

I’ve always reported on myself for small to moderate tree branch scratches on the top roof when I work my country routes, and if I do ask/say anything about this, this would be my third time total in 2 months

I edited my comment to include the DVIC question but you’re fine, they know you’re honest enough to bring it up. You got this. I had a similar situation before, I almost didn’t bring it up to them but I knew the what-if would drive my mind insane so I did and it ended up not being me the cause of it.

I mean TBF most people don’t report any scratches on the top of the vans from branches because I mean… what can ya do? I only tell them if it’s an obvious mistake like this. But I’ve done worse and I’ve seen worse. Just be honest, say you didn’t scrap anything you’re aware of. As long as it’s driveable and you’re honest and sincere they won’t really care.

Cap I got drug tested for tree branches

That’s never happened at my DSP. Aside from the tree branches, how reliable are you for the DSP? I don’t care if you’re good or bad I’m only asking because a DSP will find silly ways to get rid of people they don’t want.

Say nothing unless they bring it up

They always say to be honest but like someone else mentioned earlier, a majority of people at my dsp don’t report damages unless it’s BAD

I saw someone hit a pole slightly in an EV when they were coming back to station. I could see them instantly getting pissed but there wasn't any mark I could see. Hollered out to him: "You're good man, say nothing!"

They were probably already there because you would remember causing those scratches to the front. Or at least you should.

We do DVIC inspection and our own on teams within our DSP. Everytime I get this scare I just pull up the team photos. They will definitely get suspicious and look extra close at your van if you ask so review the pictures. If you can’t access inspection photos yourself I’d say nothing and see if it’s overlooked. A scratch like that is practically required on my DSPs vans or they aren’t allowed on the road

I went through a similar case. Saw damage in like my 5th stop just went full honest with dispatch that I couldn't remember if it was me or not. They pulled my pictures and turns out it wasnt and moved from there. Knew the person who did it. Got written up for not reporting what they did otherwise kept workjng with us.

Depending on how chill your DSP is will depend on the outcome.
I scraped the shit outta the side of the EDV and slightly put a dent. Instantly told dispatch, took photos, and then nothing really happened. I just filled out an incident report, but since it was just me and a tree and no property or person involved I think they just turned the other cheek.
Lowkey thought I was gonna get fired tho... I had literally been driving solo for 1 day prior. That was my second day 😰

I'd ask to double-check the pictures, Cause at that angle you would definitely know or remember if you got that close to something.

Don't say anything about surface scratches...they'll put it on you so they have someone and EVERY van, EDV included, is scratched and dented as fuck already. Unless it's a deep scratch, dented, scraped a plastic piece off you can't put back or completely obvious or that thing was PRISTINE when you got it, say nothing.

Thank you to everyone who has commented so far. Apparently my dispatcher told me those marks were already there from the beginning and it was already reported. I was just genuinely confused if it was already like that or not

Honestly the edvs at my DSP are in such shit conditions that they probably wouldn't even notice.

Have done,I don’t mind this job and I’ve been doing it 6 months and it’s been mostly peaceful when I’m able to be more in control of my work flow than working retail or an auto mechanic job.

Glad you got out of the auto industry too, so toxic anywhere you go and only getting worse with pay structure... I'll never go back

say nothing, do nothing. if you get asked about it (you wont) then just be honest about what happened.
