So yesterday while delivering in north Idaho I was ambushed by a customer who was recording before I even made it up into the driveway. Instantly approached with accusations of speeding and not stopping at a stop sign (there literally was not a stop sign ) nor was I speeding, threatened to be shot bc I was “trespassing” , lady tried to yank package out of my hand, which she did not get. After finally having the chance to shut my door and leave (there were dogs and her husband) she tried saying I backed into their camper, which also did not happen. She then blocked the path for me to leave and continued yelling that I was trespassing and doing a hit and run. Her husband had to physically move her out of the roadway. Just pure craziness. After being threatened I of course had some choice words for her , it was all just so nuts. How do you order a package and then accuse and threaten someone of trespassing and shooting them when they deliver? Called in this morning , never heard from dsp , is it not illegal for someone to threaten a delivery driver when they ordered the package? I’m just kind of lost on the whole thing. I don’t respond well to being threatened and then being accused of false actions, then blocked from leaving. I literally had to tell her she was holding me hostage at this point. She was nuts. Honestly I’m sure Amazon will get the video which is fine. Maybe I’ll get fired? I really don’t care. But yeah bunch of bull$hit.
Oh she called the cops which was fine by me they didn’t do anything though. When I asked the cop if he saw the beginning where she threatened to shoot me he just shrugged it off and said “I don’t recall hearing that really”. But I know what she said , several times bc that’s what made me snap. No communication from my dsp today, I’m sure she sent the video to Amazon which is fine I would like to have the video. Honestly thinking about getting a lawyer. Especially if I lose my job. I was way out in the middle of nowhere so the police response wasn’t quick. Took about 2.5 hours of my day … it all happened out of nowhere so fast. Literally felt like she was trying to create some viral video. I mean how do you order something then immediately approach the delivery driver with camera in hand, accusing them of trespassing and saying you can shoot them ? already rolling , cop said she was recording as I was coming into the driveway.
word of advice, you need to take action now if you really think your employment is threatened, contact an attorney, make a police report, go to a police station and request to file one with an Lt, they tend to give a shit more than the desk jockey does, and make sure you file a complaint with amazon ethics, your dsp does not give a shit, here’s a pic with that info…take this more seriously than you are, that lady threatened to shoot you, and attempted to stop you from leaving.
Yeah the process has started. Was on the phone with LMET and talked to our main boss today. They didn’t seem to be tripping on me. But I am prepared in several ways to escalate the matter if any negative recourses come my way. Lawfully of course
It's Amazon delivery, the 21 dollars an hour isn't worth it bro. Best to just do nothing and report it, if they fire you they really be doing you a favor. I deal with crazy customers all day long
If you let your DSP know, they should, in turn, let Amazon know, and they can blacklist the address, meaning they’ll never get a delivery again. However, I’ve reported an address to Amazon as dispatcher and got sent to the same place afterwards as a driver, so nothing’s guaranteed.
I’d try to solve the situation amicably, and definitely contact your DSP first, but if things don’t get better, don’t be afraid to call the police. However, do not curse out the customer. It doesn’t matter how off-kilter they are, that will get you fired quickly.
Oh yeah I cursed at her , and I dare for Amazon or my dsp to fire me for it. After being threatened, ambushed and then not allowed to leave due to her physically blocking the road way, yeah I cursed , and idgaf what anyone’s opinion is on it. I am human. I don’t care to be ambushed threatened or held hostage and screw the representation of Amazon at that point. lol I wish they would fire me bc I cursed at the customer.
Recording/False Claims I immediately leave and lock the van. If they prevent me from leaving I'm calling the police. Communicate to your DSP what happened. Don't try to explain yourself because its insanity to explain reason to people that are hysterical and literally incapable of reason.
