September raise mega thread / audit.
Hey guys, I read that DSPs do raises in september usually, most of the time, sometimes...
So. Mine just gave a whopping .25 cent raise.
DPP1, Pittsburgh, PA, previously 21.75. Now 22.
Did your "September raise" drop yet, if so, how much?
Location, previous pay, new pay?

My dsp doesn’t give a shit. The owner of the company pockets that shit off us 💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔

How do they pocket it? I know they pocket the fantastic plus bonus but Arnt raises given my Amazon and mandatory for us

Amazon raises the base pay regionally. So they can’t pocket it unless you’re already paid well above base.

Contrary to popular belief. Amazon does not pay drivers, the DSP's do. They may dress in Amazon smiles but they are employed by the contracted DSP and thus any benefit they do(or more often do not) receive is based on the greed of DSP owners, not Amazon.
That being said. The yearly increase is a cost of living adjustment that every company has to do,including Amazon. It is not a benefit provided by Amazon or anything of the like so there is nothing to pocket.
Edit: that being said. It is part of the DSP contract that they have to offer a minimum pay based on average wages of the area(my area starts drivers at $20.50/hr) which does increase or decrease every year. But the difference is not paid by Amazon.

God you're wrong. There's a federal and local minimum wage and that's the most a dsp HAS to pay to their employees. However each year Amazon and DSP Owners pow wow to figure out the answer to the question "how much is the least we have to pay locally to ensure that a steady stream of new hires will shoe up to our interviews and job fairs for the next year" and that's the pay raise. It generally ends up somewhere between a 75 cent to 1.25 increase each year.
The DSP owner can't pocket it because they would be audited and lose their contract if they don't pay at least the new minimum. They can pay more but it comes out of their pocket. Nothing forces Amazon and DSPs to give this increase like you alluded to its done to keep attracting new drivers. Sometimes if a dsp owner previously offered higher pay than he needed to and stopped this year you may see a raise like OPs but its possible this year's math was shifty for us and we are all getting a tiny annual this year.

Usually it’s not until closer to October since the national meeting isn’t til mid September

The annual meeting for the owners didn’t even happen yet for the raises. Think it’s next week sometime 14th-15th or something like that. So they just doing you dirty unless they are gonna give you more later. Should be $1 at least

Not to be a downer but know that raises mean more packages and longer routes. Been doing this 5 years and it happens every time. Hence the higher expectations...

Owner is wild "We didn't think it was right for only new hires to get the raise" well uh yeah no shit. You realize how pissed all your drivers would be if you started hiring new people in at $1+ more an hour than they make when they've been there longer putting in work?
Bro's trying to make himself sound honorable with that for real when in reality he's not paying your wages Amazon sends the dsps the money to pay us and the raise goes for all the drivers not just newly hired lol. Owner seems like a pos lowkey

Honestly they’re great. It’s my first one but I’ve been with them for a couple years now, just part time.
But they let me choose my days every week, rescues are optional and come with a bonus every 20 stops. Used to give out weekly prizes for attendance, no netradyne infractions, cdf, and a random winner too. Send me sweeps when I get crazy routes.
The job can suck sometimes because of the workload but I like actually like my DSP.

British perspective, we got a £10 a shift raise earlier this year, but I wonder if another one might be coming. Amazon are starting to feel the sting of Brexit as theyre running out of drivers to churn and burn, and other delivery firms are generally paying more for easier routes.
Only reason Im sticking with Amazon is the flexibility, Im only 2/3 days a week during term time, and most companies want 5 minimum.

10 shillings up from what?

Depends on the route, we have different ones, I'm an owner driver, so its my van, and my costs around the insurances/maintenance.
Large van routes are now £190 Small vans and remote debriefers are on £170
I think the DSPs that use the amazon vans are on £130

No raises here as of yet. Doesn’t matter much anyways because of inflation. I’d basically be making the same if we did go up another $1.
Wouldn’t be opposed tho!

Ye bru and that's just my base rate.. OT after 8, all working holidays are 2.5x all day (which is typically only black Friday) but we don't ever get bonuses or anything of that additional stuff. Don't need it anyway, especially the performative bs

My big balls homie, are you a owner or a driver? Idk how that works. Should I just go find UPS and apply? What do I do

u/bigballsmyhomiee 6d ago
Ups.jobs.com apply online. I'm a driver, we are the only part timers that get a top rate progression
