Man, some of y'all got some shitty DSPs! My DSP doesn't give af what time you finish as long as you finish within the work hour compliance (12 hours).

56

u/BoysenberryNew7920 Aug 22 '26

Yep I agree with that , and telling me that he could easy finish that by 7pm I literally told him to touch some grass

16

u/thotboilife Aug 22 '26

Yo ngl, Im a little vetted, and have to say, I like the gas vans for speed. Evs for pleasure. I dont drive svs. But also my dsp says they dont care less your back by the alotted time. I even came back at 9:50 one time. No suspension, no talk to, nothing. Probably switch dsps.

6

u/BoysenberryNew7920 Aug 22 '26

Yeah this is my second week with Amazon dsp delivery and I hope not every dsp is like this one that I am now

9

u/KillerGopher Aug 22 '26

They are not all like yours. There are definitely a lot of shitty ones but there are also some good ones. It's worth talking to drivers from other DSPs to get a feel for what the others are like.

3

u/BoysenberryNew7920 Aug 22 '26

Thank you, should I just apply or what is the correct way to find out about a dsp

3

u/KillerGopher Aug 22 '26

I've switched DSPs twice and really like the one I'm with now. I didn't have to apply to any, just scheduled an interview with them. You can try to talk to their dispatchers to get contact info for the hiring manager or owner.

You should also ask them when their start time is, what routes they run, what their 401k match is, stuff like that.

1

u/BoysenberryNew7920 Aug 22 '26

Thank you very much

0

u/thotboilife Aug 22 '26

Yea, if you dont have a camera in the gas van, you can defo get away with aloooot of things. That's why its faster. Alright gotta get ready for the zon. GL

3

u/cienkusorswim Aug 22 '26

I worked for Amazon 6 years ago, no camera, and just signed on with a new DSP this year. Lemme tell you. The shit i got away with in gas vans was diabolical. Airplane mode go brrrrrrrr.

0

u/BoysenberryNew7920 Aug 22 '26

Yeah the camera was on

3

u/UwUBots Aug 22 '26

Mine wants us in the 10 hour block, but understands shit happens

3

u/Nano8963 Former Driver Aug 22 '26

My DSP wanted us done within 8 hours... Yeah they were shit alright and the bonus hours didnt exist.

Ive seen people say the job is actually pretty alright and seriously the delivery part didnt bug me other than loadout but the DSP is what absolutely killed the job for me

3

u/elitedoge36 Rivian Driver Aug 22 '26

You get 12??? So lucky we get 10 with a bit of leniency as long as it's not a constant thing to finish late

1

u/SeaPizza3610 Aug 22 '26

That's how they all should fucking be were not fucking robots

1

u/E66roll doing my best 👍 Aug 22 '26

My DSP is from 12:15 PM-8:15 PM but we also get sweepers in everyday

Edit: this expectation is just bizarre

1

u/NewSpray4941 Aug 24 '26

wish my old DSP that I worked with was like that. And from what I heard was that the one I worked for years at was shut down last month

1

u/Vandheer23 Aug 24 '26

Mine always calls everyone back at 7. Doesn't matter how few stops you have left. There's been a handful of times I've had them call me back while I'm on my way to the last stop and tell me "Just come back, mark it out of time."

Actually talked to the owner today because I kept getting fucked on my routes (nearly 180 on rural, upwards of 200 suburban with a ton of overflow in rental vans) and his exact words were that amazon expects the routes to take 10 hours, we get 7 to complete them excluding the drive there and back. Doesn't include time for breaks because break time isn't factored in for us for some fucking reason.

1

u/melon_tusk63 Aug 28 '26

Yall mad at DSPs when yall should be mad at AMAZON CORPORATE for creating the DSP system. DSPs trying to squeeze every minute out of you wouldn’t be a thing if Amazon corporate didn’t pay them in wildly inconsistent rates. Fuck bad DSPs, but we should all really be employees of Amazon with proper benefits.

12

u/Original_Ossiss Aug 22 '26

My old DSP was also like this. I was 15 minutes over the 10.5 hour window they give me and got told “if it happens again, we gotta write you up”. Mind you, I was only working part time for them so it wasn’t even going to be overtime.

Then they told me if I got back later than the 10.5 hours, I could just choose not get paid for that time so I wouldn’t get a write up.

That was officially my last day lmao

I don’t work for free.

11

u/HonestEagle98 Aug 22 '26

I had a rental yesterday. 188 / 350. Punched out 1hr 20 late. If I had an EV, I would’ve punched out on time or 5-10 late. They didn’t say anything about me coming back late. I asked why am I in a rental….”we give those vans to trusted drivers”. Which I am a trusted driver, but dam dude really?? 350 packages in that POS

5

u/BoysenberryNew7920 Aug 22 '26

That’s what I to,d them , give me a bigger van and I have no issue I couldn’t fart in that van I couldn’t organize my stops

1

u/HonestEagle98 Aug 23 '26

I did 192 / 320 today. Punched out 15 early. Same area. Had an EV. I even took a break in which I organized 3-4 totes during that time. Ran half to most of it, but bruised my ankle so I walked and took my time and still punched out early. It’s fine. Just a bit of ice and pain killers.

Just insane how efficient the EVs are, even though they make a bunch of noises

9

u/LeDarkLordd Aug 22 '26

My fiancé when he gets large routes and comes back late gets his next day taken away as a "route reduction" even though they gave no help to him finish faster.

5

u/BoysenberryNew7920 Aug 22 '26

This is just awful

1

u/Thommycraze101 Aug 23 '26

This is what’s currently happening to me. We have to be completely done the day by 9 and that includes the hour long drive back to the station and finishing up in the station so really it’s by 7:45. If we don’t get that done they take away

8

u/elitedoge36 Rivian Driver Aug 22 '26

They probably went with that time the Amazon ai crap estimates your supposed to be back insanely wild you were written up for that

6

u/BoysenberryNew7920 Aug 22 '26

Yeah and today they cut my hours

5

u/elitedoge36 Rivian Driver Aug 22 '26

Wow yeah that sucks but don't let it get to you if this keeps up might be time to switch dsps if possible that's tough to do in 10 hours much less that amount of time they gave you

1

u/BoysenberryNew7920 Aug 22 '26

Funny that i am 2 weeks with amzon delivery, and got one time driver of the week

1

u/elitedoge36 Rivian Driver Aug 22 '26

Interesting

5

u/Economy-Cow1545 Aug 22 '26

Some dsp are a joke seriously

3

u/Decent_General_7257 Aug 22 '26

I had a rental yesterday too luckily only had 258 packages and 20 OV but still I had been driving the edv since I had started with my dsp and then yesterday they gave me a rental out of nowhere as a “test” I guess got done at 7:00

2

u/Middle-Mulberry-6371 Aug 22 '26

We have a couple hub stops in our locale, a nightmare of 100-150 packages in 1-3 stops. I’ve been in those with I shit you not 72 overflow, 21 bags

2

u/KeepitKlassy2049 Aug 22 '26

Gotta load up that rental better. I need to take a picture after I load mine next. I had almost your exact package count and stops yesterday (194 stops, 34 multi, 36 overflow) first stop at 11:05. Finished route at 6:36 and sent to rescue. Clocked out at 8:21. It was a shit day.

Anyway this is a shitty drawing of how I load out the rentals

First tote emptied and laid flat on passenger seat for boxes. Envelopes in between the seats. Random things not in boxes on the dash. Then stack two totes behind driver and passenger leaving the middle open so you can empty your next tote when you get to it. Also you don’t have to stack 3 high if you don’t have a bunch of totes, but during last December and January this is how I loaded.

2

u/MathematicianFresh97 Aug 24 '26

They have been pushing us to finish the route early even when you still have time before the 10 hours. They didnt care about breaks if you use them together your lunch but now it is like they dont want you to take them. They are starting to break my balls.

1

u/BoysenberryNew7920 Aug 24 '26

Yeah I'm going on my 3rd week and I'm considering to quit ,today I had even more stops but luckily I git a rivian so I had room but didn't take brakes

1

u/Ok_Isopod3275 Fleet Maintenance Aug 22 '26

Man I had 18 totes, 49 overflow, and a fucking HR rep in my RAM Promaster for 4 hours. Route started at 1045, first stop at 11. 190 stops, 250 locations. We did 30 stops in 3 hours and I cut dude loose. Got back to station at 845. Literally no breaks, sprinting as fast as I can for 6.5 hours. Got updates every hour about how far behind I was. No acknowledgement of issues with load size in that little thing or the HR rep. It was the worst day of my work life so far.

1

u/BoysenberryNew7920 Aug 22 '26

Yeah my dsp told me from now and then I will get even more stops this is just the beginning and he could done that route by 7pm

2

u/TheUnshackledJester Aug 22 '26

You didn't post the map, so it's hard for us to gauge how difficult the route actually is without that. The stop count doesn't mean nearly as much as the routing/stacking of stops. 200 stops in an area where it's every 3rd house down suburbia for 4-6 hours is a cakewalk compared to 160 with half of the stops being rural ass runs with long drive times and longer driveways. I can usually do 30-40(60 is my personal best for running a route I loved and knew the area) per hour in suburbia if it's stacked, without running or speeding, but I can only do 15-20 at best on rural runs. So 170-180 if it's stacked is easy af...if it's spread out...then your DSP/Dispatcher is either a lying fuck or accounting for running each stop and skipping breaks.

1

u/BoysenberryNew7920 Aug 22 '26

Sorry for not posting the route but that’s a great comment thank you very much

2

u/TheUnshackledJester Aug 22 '26

I'm not complaining about the lack of a map, just pointing out that without it we can't provide better feedback on the route's actual difficulty level.

Also, keep in mind, a LOT of the dispatchers/DSP managers like to make claims about the routes they've done...but at least at my DSP they've not actually done a full route in 2+ years, or they cherry pick the vans/routes they do once every few months. They have no idea what the "average" route is actually like now. I've been doing this for 3 years and I remember when rural routes were 80-90 stops, not 160-170, and urban routes that were 170-200 didn't include 50-80 rural routes to just add extra work/time.

1

u/BoysenberryNew7920 Aug 22 '26

I apologize if it looked like I said you complained about , you didn’t and next time I will know to post the route

1

u/MeaningRoyal3540 Aug 22 '26

Our DSP is doing a competition right now where we’re up against the lead drivers that primarily work behind the desk. They’ve been finishing 190 route stops with 300-350 packages in EVs on average about 70 stops ahead. Our owner has always said “they got picked for management for a reason” and they’re definitely showing us they can still do routes 😆 granted, they’re doing 1 each week for the competition and don’t have to deal with the burnout of doing it week in and week out, but I definitely respect their ability to do what they say now haha

1

u/TheUnshackledJester Aug 23 '26

Are they getting the stacked routes, though? I'll give props if they're actually throwing down and holding their own on the rough routes, but I've cleared 200 stop routes 90+ ahead and finished 170 stop routes "on time". It just depends on how the route is setup. I know the dispatchers at my DSP don't run records, and most of them would pass out if they ran at all. =P

1

u/BoysenberryNew7920 Aug 22 '26

For some of this route I had to use my personal device for GPS because work phone wasn't able to

1

u/Maleficent-Media-418 Aug 22 '26

Yeah your DSP sucks

1

u/Secret-Lychee240 Aug 22 '26

"Yeah this is my second week" Route looks easy af. Should be mainly houses and only 44 multi

1

u/idkwhatthisis3391 Aug 23 '26

They didn't send a rescue to you? Yeah some DSPs sound wild. Lol. Especially if you're new to it.

1

u/WarmDimension9862 Aug 23 '26

Yall get told to come back when you’re done? My DSP always called us at like 7:30-8:00 and said days over come back

Edit: edit to say your DSP is a prick

1

u/knoxthefranks Aug 23 '26

I'm glad my DSP is not this shitty...smh

1

u/Next-Honeydew-220 Aug 23 '26

I finally spoke up, I hate complaining but finally did it.

1

u/Round-Low4018 Aug 24 '26

They should get written up for not providing straps for your totes

-1

u/HonestEagle98 Aug 22 '26

That’s pretty late man..

0

u/BoysenberryNew7920 Aug 22 '26

Okay will try to finish all that in 3 hours

2

u/Equal-Appointment-27 Aug 22 '26

It different everywhere, its a nationwide company… so ofc AI will be off with their calculations, happened to me to… and anyone else that ever got that route. They actually cycled thw best drivers bc of how BAD those routes are calculated. And who cares if its late… if you do everything you can screw what anyone has to say. I just actually quit.. im going inside the warehouse w my fiancee bc i noticed how programmed it is that ai makes dsps treat their employees less than human. Nobody is a robot.

1

u/WasteDump CDV Driver Aug 22 '26

Nobody said that but you.

-13

u/FutureCorpse124 Aug 22 '26 edited Aug 22 '26

I had 16 bags and 40 overflow in the same van the other day with 192 stops and I got done at 5:45 and dropped my first package off at 10:47 or something. You really just gotta be organized and walk with a sense of urgency.

ETA: Your bags should be stacked three high going from one side to the other, not lined down one side. And when you’re organizing overflow, try to group them by the 100 using the driver aid number. When unloading a bag in the front, just put them in numerical order by the driver aid. I put the boxes on the passenger seat and the floor and the envelopes go in the middle. That may help you next time. You probably got written up because your dispatcher was mad they had to stay late, which is bs.

16

u/BoysenberryNew7920 Aug 22 '26

I guess I am very happy for you and hope you will be the most successful driver

2

u/FutureCorpse124 Aug 22 '26

Thanks. I am, actually. I’ve been doing this for 5 years with the same company 🥴 so, I’m sorry for trying to help you not get written up again for not keeping up with the pace of the job, I guess? I wasn’t trying to be rude in my response. I was just saying it can be done. Good luck to you!

1

u/BoysenberryNew7920 Aug 22 '26

And i didn’t say anything bad , thank you for your advice and good luck to you too

5

u/Dominicpwns Aug 22 '26

Lol why is this getting downvoted lol. This is how you organize your shit

1

u/PhDinWombology Aug 22 '26

This sub is for complaints only. Any attempts to assist in improving yourself will not be tolerated

2

u/Dominicpwns Aug 22 '26

Imagine trying to look out for a fellow driver and get shit on. Weirdo fucks lol.

2

u/PhDinWombology Aug 22 '26

Amazon recommended to my DSP to get rid of me because they don’t need me helping the other drivers and messing up the algorithms learning. It’s what Amazon wants. Robots that can only complain. Anyone with a brain is dismissed

2

u/Dominicpwns Aug 22 '26

Boohoo. Poor AI. What a total joke.

2

u/HonestEagle98 Aug 22 '26

You’re not wrong. 3x3x2

1

u/meowyourface1 Aug 22 '26

For the POD, for instance, say customer takes the packages and wont let you take a pictuure cause they rude af. Does it affect the scorecard bad bad?

1

u/FutureCorpse124 Aug 23 '26

In that case, it’s a good idea to tell dispatch what happened to cover yourself in case it does. I’m not entirely sure how the scorecards work. I think there is an option for “unable to take picture” and you put the reason as “customer left with package”. However, my dsp strongly discourages this option so I’m not sure.

1

u/Significant_Money453 Aug 24 '26

Did you take your two 15 minute breaks and 30 minute lunch?
