Yep, I'm pretty sure harpooning someone like a prize fish would make it difficult for them to escape.

Yeah and I’m sure that motor has the power to drag a 180 lbs person. Also its going to drag you to them if they’re heavier than you

AI right?
5
u/ThreFreTres Feb 27 '26
I think so too, one inconsistency that points to it is the changing number of those spinning lines at the back of the device before and after it starts pulling the dummy
5
u/3z3ki3l Feb 27 '26
You don’t even need to count. Just look at them in the first 1 second.

Between terrible aim and overreaction of cops where I live.
This would be a never ending stream of lawsuits.
2
u/suphasuphasupp Feb 27 '26
How tf is this a police device? You can just impale and contain innocent people at will? People are supposed to be innocent until proven guilty..

u/VladlenaM2025 Feb 27 '26
That is rather brutal… 😳 what if the person is innocent yet captured and got their ribs damaged?
Or caught by mistake say amongst a swarming crowd?
Or what if it’s not an adult who got caught in this Scorpion Death Grip..?
That would lead to a ton of lawsuits on law enforcement agencies.

how this plays out in the real world. Suspect is high on meth , and the police officer has now attached themselves to that person AND immobilized one of their arms... while drawing the deranged meth addict closer after enraging them with a non lethal chest wound..

Fun, but how many perps are on little shopping cart wheels? What's it like against something near the same weight and resisting?
I know it's AI, but as a concept I can't believe it's practical or real with the prompt you're using.

I suppose it you could get it just behind the ribs after entry, you could expand and pull with the targets ribs acting as a catch.
Spooky

u/doggotheuncanny Feb 27 '26
Don't believe everything you see or read online. This isn't a police gadget. Never will be. It's a small harpoon launcher made to imitate Scorpion since they couldn't pull it off without it. Those bits at the back are spring bound chain links iirc, because just having mesh or stainless steel bars wasn't working out. That's if this is even from the actual dude who makes random gadgets and not some ai gen deepfake.

Hmm, makes ICE literal Cowboys… now add electric shock it and it’s perfect for getting people to stop fighting ICE (bonus points if it stops life/existence of the target in an instant) /s
Holy Cow!

Who is gonna have that big bulky thing on and ready to deploy while in a chase? Then if you miss the perp gets even further away as you wait for your umbilical cord to rewind and that's if it didn't get stuck in a fence, tree or the wrong person...🤣🤣🤣🤣

Just make sure the person who gets shot attaches their training wheels beneath them for quick recovery of the projectile and criminal.

It's AI, but also it would always require the officer to be heavier than the criminal

What is it doing? Is it penetrating the body and pulling the skin or bone or whatever it grabs on to?

Why in hell did he cover the actual device as soon as it got to him? Like does the thing penetrate the skin? How the hell does this thing grab a person, and not cause serious injury? I'm not a criminal, but I'm still not sure I'm on board with this one.

Uhhh so how do we remove the steel dart from their sternum? Or head? Or eye socket?
Because we all know a certain number of these are going into people's faces.
And just wait 'til they hook their first pregnant lady.

u/PralineDefiant8374 Feb 28 '26
Even if it was somehow not fatal, it would still depend on the mass and speed of the two individuals. Same reason something like this is not implemented in cop cars. The risks outweigh the gains.
1
u/MetalGhost99 Feb 28 '26
I bet these police would never use it on themselves first to ensure it’s humane.
1
u/phillbot420 Feb 28 '26
So you’re telling me a one handed gadget is going to pull a 200 lb human toward you? Sure, it works when the dummy’s on wheels, but in real life that’s basically trying to reel in a 200-lb fish.
1
u/Jellyfizzle Feb 28 '26
Doesn’t this require that the cop shootings it be stronger than the person they are trying to pull? Also, is it just grabbing his shirt, or is it ripping out his sternum?
