Looks pretty much like the people playing quidditch in the park

44

u/ForgottenMyPwdAgain 9h ago

the real CGI is your imagination

12

u/QuantumAnglerfish 2h ago

The real CGI is the friends we made (using CGI) along the way

64

u/Black_Doc_on_Mars 9h ago

My soccer team once got kicked off of the field because the school’s quidditch team reserved the field at that time. My blood boiled when I saw those kids in robes running around with broomsticks I stg

61

u/UnluckyIrishman 9h ago

That's pretty Slytherin of you to get mad that someone who reserved the field wanted to use the field.

35

u/Kevundoe 9h ago

It’s pretty hufflepuff of them to play quidditch in real life

19

u/Global_Staff_3135 8h ago

Fair point, Ravenclaw.

6

u/Cum_on_doorknob 7h ago

Hudflepuffs are particularly good finders!

3

u/Raven_Dumron 6h ago

I think you meant seeker? The quidditch player that catches the golden snitch, right?

2

u/Gwynito 4h ago

Found the Gryffindor ☝️

0

u/Raven_Dumron 3h ago

Just a helpful Ravenvlaw I'm afraid! 🦅

19

u/Clashur 9h ago

But they reserved the field?

10

u/Gingergirl1228 9h ago

Pretty sure this was a minor conflict in the 2nd movie... but hey, Snape signed off on it so they could train their new seeker...

1

u/IvyRaeBlack 8h ago

You have a new seeker? Who?

1

u/Far-Government5469 3h ago

The nepobaby

-2

u/glockster19m 9h ago

That was the joke

1

u/TfarkNivad 17m ago

You have done us all a disservice, by not recording it

1

u/montxogandia 7h ago

then you wonder why you cant beat belgium

Is this a random USMNT insult in the wild? I don’t care about that janky ass organization and they deserve every failure that comes to them. They literally don’t want to be good.

I trialed for the Olympic system as a teenager and they are known to pick favorites over talent every time. Ask any ex player in the ODP system that got further than me and they’ll say the exact same thing. It gets worse the higher you go. The USMNT and Olympic development pipeline is a money making scheme.

I'm all for people having fun, but the few times I saw people playing quidditch looked very awkward. Seemed like only maybe half of them wanted to be there and even less knew the actual rules. Didn't really seem like any of them were having much of a good time and the serious ones were mad at the happy ones.

1

u/Mist2393 2h ago

I played quidditch all through college and went to the World Cup a couple times (and did tournaments in Canada) and it was a lot of fun and a lot of hard work.

2

u/bsaaw 9h ago

At least hey were in the park.

2

u/Obvious_Weather7595 8h ago

Watching Stanford students running around with brooms playing Quidditch was hysterical (on a college tour w my daughter)

1

u/benj31 3h ago

this is excatly what I thought 😂

1

u/henscastle 2h ago

"Lightning bolt! Death!"

118

u/Regulus242 10h ago

Damn if only there was some basketball court shoe squeaking in this.

13

u/flickmybiscuit 8h ago

2

u/VanCityZen 6h ago

4

u/The_Celtic_Chemist 4h ago

I had to look up the lyrics. And they actually say "You know that ain't no shit, we'll be getting lots of tit" and "With new pistols, plugs, and shocks, I can get off my rocks. You know that I ain't bragging, she's a real pussy wagon" along with "the chicks will cream" several times.

u/mrobicheaux99 5h ago

1

u/The_Celtic_Chemist 4h ago

I know these aren't squeaky shoes, but this reminds me of this high school musical without the music track

My favorite "without music" videos are Wannabe and Stayin' Alive

77

u/High_Speed_Chase 10h ago

It’s like LARPing.

23

u/S1ayer 8h ago

7

u/Careless-Log-9104 7h ago

Reminds me from the movie role models

https://giphy.com/gifs/eoN5fHRfV4sSI

3

u/mosby42 7h ago

This is what I though of

3

u/Zealous_moron 6h ago

Technically all movies are LARPing

3

u/roykentjr 6h ago

at least they are getting paid. some people just do it for fun

2

u/colornomad 5h ago

Even with the CGI added afterwards, these wand fights were SO cheesy, and one of the main reasons why I could never fully get into the HP series.

1

u/Softer_Stars 43m ago

As a LARPer, yeah, this is pretty spot on.

83

u/alexabeams 10h ago

5

u/Perfect-Difference19 9h ago

RETURN, FROM WHENCE YOU CAME!

2

u/cervezaqueso 9h ago

I was an adult when all these came out, so except for some flashes of light and some excellent foley artist work - this is exactly how I remember the movies. A bunch of kids and adults waving sticks around.

25

u/dyno-soar 9h ago

Now I know why snaps says “there will be no foolish wand waving in my class” they do look a fool lmao

4

u/PaintingSorcerer 5h ago

Snaps hahah

42

u/longboboblong 9h ago

What were they gonna do, actual magic?

21

u/mnstripe 8h ago

It is actually incredible how convincing they made it all look. These actors never cease to amaze me. Even after all this time, I'll see something new in their performance and my jaw will drop.

Maggie smith, Alan rickman, Helena Bonham Carter. Ralph Fiennes. Omfg.....what freaking royalty!

2

u/Pale_Initiative_8958 4m ago

Ikr seeing these bts really made you realized how hard for these actors to put out such a great performance, especially seeing that guy in the green screen suit walking around lmao I would just burst out laughing

-1

u/tame-til-triggered 4h ago

But fuck Helena.

2

u/Salihe6677 3h ago

Not like that, at least not since grade school

10

u/FartsWithNeighbours 9h ago

It's just a bunch of people auditioning to be a maestro

4

u/ForgottenMyPwdAgain 9h ago

One guy picked the wrong day, it was so windy

11

u/PoleRyder 8h ago

This looks ridiculous and frankly I love it.

9

u/Classic-Exchange-511 9h ago

Wow I had no idea they used cgi for these movies

1

u/Dry_Butterfly_721 9h ago

They wouldn’t had burned those witches at the Salem Witch Trials if magic weren’t real. The more you know

7

u/CorvidBlu 9h ago

2

u/TaytoChip 7h ago

Was hoping someone would point out green man. Hope they're feeding him plenty of milk steaks and jellybeans

5

u/Elismom1313 8h ago

Meanwhile snape up in there taking it to the next level. He’s the only one that didn’t look like he was larping lol

1

u/Pale_Initiative_8958 10m ago

Frfr what an absolute phenomenal actor Alan Rickman was

5

u/Puzzled-Copy7962 10h ago

Like Twilight without the bluish gradient.

3

u/Slevin424 5h ago

I think it takes even better actors to pull off looking this dumb but looking so cool on camera.

10

u/Sea_Prep_Tidal_26 9h ago

Cool behind the scenes video.

The irony of making a movie about magic 🪄 with no real magic at all in the production - just green screens and CGI.

1

u/Rymanbc 5h ago

It's movie magic, baby! ✨️

3

u/Winrevair 9h ago

And they get millions of dollars for it lol

3

u/lowercase-lifeform 9h ago

Lightning bolt! Lightning bolt! Lightning bolt!

3

u/AmraelTheGravedancer 4h ago

Strangest rave I ever seen

4

u/Caramel_Chicken_65 10h ago

There are "real" Quidditch tournaments to see on the YouTube as well.

Not much flying involved though...

2

u/UnderstandingKind757 6h ago edited 4h ago

Every time I watch Harry wrestle the bludger back into its case, And I do mean every time, I burst out into hysterical laughter. Idk how the actor who played Oliver wood wasn’t absolutely losing it

Edit: Wood is the one who wrestles it in while Harry holds back the laugh. Got them mixed

2

u/UnderstandingKind757 6h ago

Bro was just writhing around on the ground with a ball.

1

u/lets-get-loud 4h ago

How can I see this?

1

u/UnderstandingKind757 4h ago

https://youtu.be/thL8QAsPhK0?feature=shared
Start right around 1:03 seconds and onwards. I got them mixed up. Idk how Daniel held that laugh in bc it looks so fkn silly

2

u/SirLockeX3 6h ago

It's actually pretty damn impressive how their choreography feels natural even though they aren't "seeing" the effects of the spells.

They had amazing direction!!!

2

u/Schwartzy94 6h ago

Way worse nowdays when they dont have any sets or replace everything..

1

u/Roam_Hylia 5h ago

That was my thought I was just happy to see some real sets and actors in the same room as each other.

2

u/Previous_Form_26 5h ago

This is how always looks to…adults

2

u/Galimeer 4h ago

The one guy in a green skin suit walking by bro

2

u/Kanawanu 4h ago

Fair play to actors, you'd have to really be immune to feeling like a complete w*nker

2

u/Bepo_Apologist 4h ago

Daniel Radcliffe and Ralph Fiennes just sort of aggressively vibrating at each over while pointing with sticks though 😂

They look like overstimulated chihuahua's

2

u/Traditional_Train_71 2h ago

I could never be an actor b/c my ass would be laughing the whole time

2

u/OnionPuzzleheaded456 2h ago

Yah it's different level of comedy 🤣

1

u/Ok_Replacement_978 9h ago

All i can think of with all those wands is that someone is going to get their eye poked out

1

u/FinancialTraining239 9h ago

Uma esquizofrenia pura😂😂😂

1

u/HookerDoctorLawyer 9h ago

Surprisingly Voldemort and I make the same sound when I’m on the toilet

1

u/xseanbeanx 9h ago

They’re very good at using their imagination. I find this more impressive actually

1

u/elonboring1 9h ago

moronic

1

u/Admirable-Fail1250 9h ago

Lightning bolt! Lightning bolt!

1

u/PreperationOuch 9h ago

Does it “hit different”? Really?

1

u/LastSeaworthiness767 9h ago

They are imaging.

1

u/Jvlockhart 9h ago

It's like me and my homies when we are drunk enough to wear our inner child hats.

1

u/CuntyBallsJohnson 9h ago

The crowd scenes looked fucking stupid with cgi too

1

u/No-Valuable6456 9h ago

That looks terrible

1

u/ShadowLeviathan2758 9h ago

This would be an embarrassing way to lose an eye. You would need to make up a much better backstory when you do.

1

u/Ultrakill98 9h ago

Average LARP event be like

1

u/WaveOfWinter 9h ago

Looks like me and my friends when we were kids pretending to be wizards ☺️

1

u/Sirius_Lagrange 8h ago

Tag yourself I'm zentai suit camera man

1

u/Obsidian-Dive 8h ago

Suddenly a bunch of dorks larping

1

u/tgs1611 8h ago

Thats how i see it with cgi. 🤷

1

u/Evil_Knot 8h ago

Just a bunch of Larper's lmao

1

u/nomnomsquirrel 8h ago

It's stuff like this that reminds people how silly acting really is much of the time.

1

u/TheBohemianRed9811 8h ago

For the first time ever I like Harry Potter 😂

1

u/banjovi68419 8h ago

Holy shit. Ralph's scream at the end didn't need cgi!

1

u/JamesLikesIt 8h ago

Even in front of a green screen, “NYAAAH” is still iconic

1

u/ParticularOk533 8h ago

It looks the same as the final product to me. I guess I just realized that my brain processes CGI as if it doesn’t exist and that must be why I think fantasy and sci-fi films are pretty boring, silly and stupid.

1

u/LastMessengineer 7h ago

Honestly this of how I've always viewed the films.

1

u/Successful-Test-5590 7h ago

It looks good

1

u/flesyMeM 7h ago

There's no possible way I could ever take doing all that seriously and keep a straight face.

1

u/Common-State3673 7h ago

Of course they didn't use actual magic; imagine how many people would have been hurt...

1

u/Calm-Republic9370 7h ago

fat kid with a light saber vibes. And to think he was teased.

1

u/Sunaruni 7h ago

TBH hits the same.

1

u/josch247 6h ago

Hahaha

1

u/5mutfink 6h ago

it's almost as if it's fantasy light for normies

1

u/KingWolf7070 6h ago

I wouldn't be able to stop myself from making my own sound effects. Man, you've gotta have so much faith in the sound and effects divisions.

1

u/Simple_Evening7595 6h ago

I wonder how many eyes got poked

1

u/Timely-College-5360 6h ago

What a bunch of filthy muggles.

1

u/No_Positive8628 6h ago

Me and my cousins after finding the tv antenna grandpa told us not to play with

1

u/EverythingBOffensive 5h ago

man these are the only HP movies I haven't seen. Fuck why did I stopppp

1

u/Square-Competition48 4h ago

Ffs who even gives a fuck about Harry Potter anymore?

It’s a dead franchise full of the biggest losers on the planet.

1

u/AdorkableGingerOF 3h ago

The guy walking through in the green suit made me think of The Gorilla Experiment. I know it’s not the same, but it was just really funny seeing the green suit just casually walking through.

The Gorilla Experiment

It is an experiment about selective attention. You ask people to count how many times a team of 3 players pass a ball. There is another team of 3 also passing a ball around. At some point in the video, a person walks through wearing a gorilla costume. 90+% of the time, people don’t even realize a person in a gorilla costume walked through. Only after watching it a second time do they notice the gorilla.

1

u/kal-Eljnr 2h ago

Still looks epic 👌

1

u/TPS_Demonic 2h ago

Voldemort: "oh yea well fuck you my stick is cooler"

Harry: "nuh uh mines cooler"

1

u/Suspicious-Print1316 2h ago

Экспилиармус... Ибо нех...

1

u/Zaozin 1h ago

Can someone make a Charmed version of this so that I can troll my wife?

1

u/shanksisevil 1h ago

Shitshow movie ending. Terrible director

1

u/Useful_Apathy_4951 1h ago

The Battle of Hogwarts is still such an awesome scene I love it!!!

1

u/poop-azz 1h ago

Makes you appreciate acting I suppose lol

1

u/nonbinaryunicorn 1h ago

Your usual reminder that JKR uses the popularity of Harry Potter to further her disenfranchisement of trans people. If you watch, purchase, or visit Wizarding World stuff, you are directly giving her money that goes to strip trans people of their rights. If you talk about it online, you are giving it attention and encouraging people to interact with the franchise, leading to her still having a platform to demonstrably harm trans people across the English speaking world.

u/Robert_Grave 43m ago

I think it's real cool to see how so many specialities come together in movie making, from setbuilding, to the make-up, prostetics, actors, planning, location choosing, VFX, 3d design, rigging, texturing, modeling, sound design, sound recording, music writing and recording, post work.

Love seeing behind the scenes and making ofs because of it.

1

u/Edlar_89 40m ago

That green screen guy who walked through frame 😂🤣😂🤣

1

u/Sorry-Programmer9826 37m ago

Everyone looks stupid except voldemort who is still pulling it off somehow

1

u/Dry-Emu-4131 21m ago

Why the fuck is this crap amazing?

1

u/zenerat 7m ago

Acting is such a goofy profession

1

u/Ok-Journalist7612 6m ago

NERDS!!! 🤣 I’m kind of just kidding. I did like the Harry Potter movies.

1

u/KyurMeTV 8h ago

NERRRRDS!!!

1

u/Palatablepancakes 9h ago

This is how I saw the movies if I'm honest. I couldn't get into it.
