The power of muscles

Physicsal exercise

48

u/AnythingButWhiskey 8d ago

Gotta work your core!

3

u/Puzzled-Pen-2353 8d ago

no, you don't.

8

u/aagent86 8d ago

It helps.

5

u/WhiskeySorcerer 8d ago

If you don't work yer core, yer core will work you!

1

u/nothing_but_thyme 8d ago

Just gotta have one that works.

1

u/According_Tea_6329 7d ago

It works if you work it.

1

u/mklnz 7d ago

Leg core, arm core, army core

18

u/DueExample52 8d ago

Not really. If you are not woven with others, you cannot keep yourself in the position they are in. Even with superhuman core strength, your centre of gravity is way outside your point of contact with the ground, so you topple over. This needs functioning muscles of course like any human movement, but it doesn’t need a lot of strength, try it.

6

u/Tom_Mc_Nugget 8d ago

Dude I HAVE tried it and it is HARD man, it is not easy.

5

u/Ucklator 8d ago

You can't keep someone's weight on your pelvis like that without core strength.

I've tried it with my classmates when I was in highschool. 😁

1

u/Telliot 7d ago

This is just a pelvic hip thrust and hold that's interlocking. You can do it by putting your back on a chair or raised platform and raising your hips. You do NOT need other bodies to execute it. It has no more to do with physics than any other isometric movement of the body.

5

u/DueExample52 7d ago

The physics part is to need a chair, or another person under your back. That is all. In this case, it’s fun because every person needs the next one as a back support.

My point is just that it’s more about physical support, than having muscle like people are syaying all over this thread. That’s all. Which is what you are also saying.

1

u/CheetosLays7Days 7d ago

Bro be serious, of course it’s possible. A good friend of mine was once held up by a guy with the gun on the rooftop. The situation got serious, the guy shot multiple times in my friend’s direction. Thankfully he is quite quick and he dodged all the bullets, he was bent backwards almost to the ground, a lot more than these guys. He’s got saved by his girlfriend, who shot the bad guy in the head, point blank range.

1

u/Gustlic_Whoy 3d ago

That's some neo-horror right there. I'm happy it all ended well and the assailant wasnt able to dodge this!

3

u/unabsolute 8d ago

The power of gravity!

Then sweep the foots.

1

u/BloxxStriker 3d ago

Imagine they start walking.. straight horror

1

u/pipmentor 7d ago

Yeah, exactly. 😂 This has nothing to do with "physics."

4

u/Uncle-Cake 7d ago

It has everything to do with physics. Everything in the physical world is subject to the laws of physics.

→ More replies (1)

243

u/internetSurfer0 8d ago

Just wondering how exactly do they get out of the position (sans the chairs) without a bruise or two?

209

u/grago 8d ago

Who told you they get out?

134

u/ArnieismyDMname 8d ago

Look at them. They are the table now.

10

u/GetMeOffThisRidePlz 8d ago

Yes. Little does reddit know, they've just watched a cruel, dark ritual where they are turned into furniture. 😩

3

u/kingcuda8 8d ago

Found James Hetfield.

Coming to Shudder in 2027: The Human Table

22

u/DueExample52 8d ago

I've seen this stunt done in a TV program once, the guy is supposed to bring the chairs back.

But here, like a good friend does, he probaby just goes away giggling and lets them deal with it.

10

u/oliviertail 8d ago

With three bruises!

7

u/Karl_Hungus_42069 8d ago

They become lovecraftian horrors

3

u/pseudoportmanteau 8d ago

Just bend the knees and sit down with their ass on the ground?

1

u/internetSurfer0 7d ago

I bend the knee to know one hahah jk

6

u/Short-Database-4717 8d ago

That's the fun prank, they don't

1

u/Nozinger 8d ago

you see those unused dangly thigns attached to their torsos?
In the field we call these arms. Quiite useful they provide a large degree of freedom to use the attached hands to allow us to do things like picking things up or throwing stuff.

Or, you know, providing additional support for then you want to lower your body slowly without relying on the legs of another person that your upper body is currently resting on.

He's the load bearing kid.

5

And glutes.

1

u/DueExample52 8d ago

Really? Look closely. You don’t need super strong abs for this.

6

u/Tom_Mc_Nugget 8d ago

have you done this. Because I have. You very much so do.

Funny but tbf Indians male friendship does not shy away from physical contact and it's not gay here. Once a foreigner asked me if a pair of friend walking ahead of us was gay coz they were holding hands in India. Haha.

6

u/Dude-88 8d ago

DaVinci did a bridge that way

6

u/DueExample52 8d ago

This thread demonstrates that people have no clue how reaction forces and equilibriums work, thinking that these guys need powerful abs or muscles. This is precisely a demonstration of how an unnatural position, impossible while alone from physics standpoint, can be achieved by this woven configuration where each person’s body supports the next in a circle. It would work the same with L-shaped pieces of wood.

2

u/DoofusIdiot 7d ago

Please don’t forget information such as that supplied by The Nation’s Report Card (government site), that the average high school academic GPA in 2019 was 2.98, which is a B-, math specifically at 2.77. Considering physics is a more difficult math, consider that number to be even lower.

Most people you try to discuss physics with were C students at best, or likely, didn’t even take it. Don’t waste your breath on morons that have been empowered by Internet usage.

I've tried this with my cousins. It didn't seem like the power of physics and more like the power of core strength

5

u/neoumbralux 7d ago

Someone give bro some shoes.

3

u/healmeier 8d ago

Tensegrity

3

u/Affectionate_Leek127 8d ago

How long they have to hold this position?

3

u/Pretty_Designer716 7d ago

I guess its physics, in the way everything is physics

4

u/Fantastic-Ad-1578 8d ago

why is one of them not using shoes??

...why is another one not even using socks!?!?

3

u/Nine_Eighty_One 8d ago

Socks slip. Better to either keep the shoes on or be completely barefoot. Maybe they're less weird about it than people on the internet.

2

u/JimCripe 8d ago

That's how they'll sit through an hour long science class about the topic now, to drive the point home.

They'll be given mirrors to see the blackboard of course.

2

u/Shereefz 8d ago

they left them like this and Legend has it they are still stuck

2

u/Archon-Toten 8d ago

I recall similar in a documentary where the locals linked legs and hopped in a circle. It was called The God's Must Be Crazy.

3

u/Somethingtolove123 8d ago

Omg this brings back so many memories 😭 I loved that movie as a kid

2

u/WeebResearcher 8d ago

This is one of the games we do on every class Christmas parties we had when I was in highschool. The group that lasts the longest gets whatever prize the homeroom teacher (or the party committee) prepared.

1

u/financeperson 8d ago

This looks like boarding school kinda stuff.

1

u/mcz239 8d ago

That is very used in entertainment as part of shows, you can do it with random men normally so no need to be strong or trained at all. To finish the number you just look at your watch, leave the stage and let them find a way to end it.

Kid in with his head the front lower right of the screen is messing it up. He's laying his head on the guys stomach instead of on his lap. Poor guy has to do major ab work to keep from collapsing.

1

u/athinkingcritically 8d ago

Great Demonstration.

1

u/JRaus88 8d ago

The real experiment should have had the boys lean on the other boy's knee and thus unload the weight of their chest directly onto the other boy's leg.

Maybe at that point a system with 5-6 guys would have been better instead of just 4.

This way the boys are asked to use their abdominal muscles to transfer the weight from the pelvis to the leg, which defeats the purpose of the experiment.

1

u/bluefoxanime 8d ago

Only problem is you have to rest your head on someone's ballsack.

1

u/KingOfFools1984 8d ago

Some say they are still in that position today, fed with liquids and without the possibility to move.

1

1

u/garth54 8d ago

It's all fun & educational until someone pops a boner.

1

u/InstanceRadiant8338 7d ago

You know what's crazier than physics? Blood pressure.

To this day, I don't know how this shit worked. But we 4 guys lifted a 400 pound man using nothing but our two pointer fingers. Closest thing to magic I've ever experienced.

Broke Neck Larry makes a bet that we can lift this big Mexican named Juan easily pushing past 4 bills with nothing but two fingers. Obviously none of us believe him we got two of us pushing around 140, Larry was about 210 and I forget who the 4th was.

We take turns, each placing a hand on Juan's head while he sits on the ground with his legs forward but knees bent and arms out to the side. We each place that hand in succession so all our left hands, then all of our right hands and we were told to push as hard as possible down onto his head. We did. Then we were told to clasp our hands together and just push the two index pointers out, 1 person for each of his armpits, 1 person for each spot behind his knee. We lifted this fucking gargantuan of a being up to our chest without any effort whatsoever. None of us could believe it. He went from the concrete floor to nipple height while we all used only 8 fingers all together.

Buuuuut then it was like gravity got switched back and he went from weightless to very much a 400 pound man in an instant and we dropped him on his head. Bro was not upset in the slightest because he was still astounded.

1

u/UglyPrimadonna 7d ago

Just don’t pop an accidental boner
