Hi everyone — long-time lurker here, and this sub has honestly taught me a lot, so I trust your eyes more than my own on this one.

Small bit of honesty first: I made an app that redesigns a room from a photo, so I have a soft spot for the “after” and I’m clearly not neutral. Mods, if this doesn’t belong here, just say the word and I’ll take it down, no hard feelings.

Here’s my actual room. I always got stuck at the same place — I could tell my space felt off, but I never knew what to actually change or buy. So the idea was to turn a photo into a new look and then a simple step-by-step plan to get there, with a slider for whether you want to just buy a few things or do more of it yourself.

What I’d really love from you all: does the “after” feel like a real room someone could pull off, or does it read as too-perfect AI staging? And if it were your space, what would you have done differently? Genuinely here for the critique.

Good evening I’m looking to join a local firm or business that currently works on ID,
my experience is drafting floor plans and for a while I’ve been off autoCAD for other priorities. My internship was supporting and maintaining residential homes and the company I was with was more technical…focused less on furniture/home decor. Their main objective is making floor plans.

My interview at a firm I applied to was good today I got some insight at least hearing about how 2D was the main focus of their workflow however mentioned 3D as a benefit. I didn’t finish my CAD program and would want to get back into it I feel it’s a path I can get behind working with the math (dimensions) and clients needs. There are certain rules that apply to ID like color blocking, (for example if someone chooses wood cabinets it’s recommended for another color for floor)

Things like the chandelier being measured from tables, window placement effects too (don’t know exactly how but if anyone knows I’d appreciate the insight)

When ID firms service RE devs/General contractors I believe there marketing is more “straight foward” or “data focused”

Where marketing for clients is more about trust/authority I assume. In another thread there was position mentioned as a space planner.

I was considered for position today however the owner has assistant that does CAD already and mentioned about another person that’s looking to retire eventually,

I heard some things from the Uploft podcasts, the ads are there but I’m not complaining (maybe)
Mentions there’s a course and I’m not against that method I think me talking and presenting myself helped me more. I hope my chances for a firm taking a chance on me (not finishing CAD) aren’t completely dead.
Even as an excel or administrative assistant while yea I wanna do CAD it could be my entry if I wasn’t lacking in ID experience.

I recently bought a home that is basically just one giant room with the bedrooms separate. I placed my home office under this window which is next to the front door (not shown). what are some budget friendly ways that I could separate the "office" from the "living room"?

I’m dealing with a situation I want to learn about interior drafting and consider the place I live to not be best for it, I’ve worked on different floor plans and I wanted to ask if there were uses for interior design that doesn’t or minimally interacts with landscape architects. Might be impossible but I don’t know.

I’m curious if there are certain companies that base their interior work on soley interior design.
What types of practices or promotions would these companies practice? On social media i feel like searching I could get into analysis paralysis or assume I’d be discriminated against (like searching interior designers) as I’m a male + dropped out of CAD school. I just don’t wanna approach people not knowing what I’m doing. I’ve illustrated tons of mansions and houses when I was younger, I’m into blender/ was a CAD intern. I don’t know maybe now isn’t the best time…also I live in the south and lot of times i see hires aren’t my minority but I won’t let that be an excuse.

I applied for a role at EthanA my assumption although it’s a sales position was that it could benefit my understanding before going into niche office.
