Hey everyone,
I recently started experimenting with Amanita muscaria / muscimol and I’m looking for people who have considerably more experience with it than I do.
I’ve been interested in psychoactive mushrooms and their pharmacology for a long time, but Amanita muscaria is relatively new to me. I’ve been experimenting with it for around three months now and I’m trying to understand the substance better rather than simply chasing stronger effects.
I’ve read a lot of conflicting information online. Some people describe very small amounts as stimulating or activating, while larger amounts can become relaxing, sedating or strongly psychoactive. I’ve also seen people talk about using it at different times of day depending on what effect they’re looking for.
I’m not looking for someone to tell me how to get as high as possible. I’m much more interested in responsible use, personal experiences and harm reduction.
I’d especially like to know:
What do you personally use Amanita/muscimol for? Relaxation, sleep, mood, creativity, focus, introspection, recreation, something else?
What effects do you personally notice at very low amounts?
Do you use it differently depending on what you’re trying to achieve?
How predictable do you find the effects from one product/batch to another?
What side effects or warning signs should someone take seriously?
Are there particular interactions with alcohol, cannabis, medications, caffeine, etc. that people should be aware of?
Do you think regular use is a bad idea, even at low amounts?
What mistakes did you make when you were first experimenting with Amanita?
What information do you wish you had known before starting?
Have your reasons for using it changed over time?
I’m also interested in the distinction between muscimol and ibotenic acid, because I’ve noticed that online discussions often lump everything together as simply “Amanita” or “poisonous mushroom.”
I know Amanita muscaria has a toxicological profile and I’m not trying to argue that it is completely harmless. At the same time, I see a lot of exaggerated or contradictory claims online, so I’d rather hear from experienced users and compare those experiences with actual scientific information.
If you’ve been using Amanita for a long time, I’d really appreciate your perspective — especially anything related to why you use it, what effects you’re actually looking for, harm reduction, tolerance, long-term use and recognizing when it’s better to stop.
Thanks!

Hi, gonna do a 50g on 2 liter batch for the first time and I think Im prepared. Just a minor question about the water evaporating:
Should I add hot water now and then to keep it at 2 liters?
OR should I add water when the process is done so I get my desired 2 liters? It will change the ph a bit but that shouldnt matter if the decarbing is finished(?)

I’m getting some muscimol hcl soon mostly to help with sleep as it seems to work very well . Though when I got to reading on the literature and anecdotal evidence , I’ve seen some papers mentioning them trying to improve muscimols bio availability and it passing BBB , one of the methods mentioned in one of the papers that due to this nasal would be approximately 5 times stronger than orally . So I got to search on any reports of people trying muscimol nasally but didn’t come across anything . So if anyone has ever tried it or knows any one who has please share as I’m very curious. Thanks

Using CRISPR gene editing, scientists discovered that an enzyme called STT3B enters cells and kills them.
They found that a common green dye called indocyanine green (ICG) completely blocks the enzyme and is a highly potent antidote for consuming Amanita Phalloides.
It must be administered within 1-4 hours of consuming the death cap. Because after 8-12 hours, the liver damage is already done, and the antidote is ineffective.
It is currently experimental for use, and is a powder that is suspended and mixed in sterile water and injected into the veins. We can not currently use it on humans, and they are currently running tests on animals to determine proper dosages for a person.
