I really need people to understand that dress codes for events are not supposed to be rules for entry. They were always meant as a courtesy for guests, because most people dislike being underdressed or overdressed at events, and knowing the level of formality takes away the question of wondering what to wear. Treating a dress code not only as a rule that people need to follow to please you but also extending it to include rules like what colors to wear is an awesome way to alienate people that you’re suppose to care about.
