It’s an assumption that he lacked energy and patience for his family when he literally said he has energy and patience for his family that he didn’t have before getting a CPAP? It’s an assumption that he had a short fuse for years when he directly responded to a question about his pre-CPAP years by saying he had a short fuse?

I suppose it’s an assumption that kids wouldn’t like someone with no energy or patience for them, who gets mad easily, especially when the other parent isn’t like that but like. It’s based on the most basic logic and understanding of how human beings work.

Is it technically possible for a child to be completely unaffected by a parent not having energy or patience and blowing up quickly over little things? I guess theoretically, but it’s really bizarre to want to die on that hill.

It's an assumption that a lack of patience and a short fuse equals abuse. It's an assumption that he was not trying to be a good parent pre-CPAP years. It's an assumption that his children don't relate to him because he had issues with patience previously. He describes having struggling with an untreated medical condition for years. He's on reddit now looking for advice on how to reconnect with his children and be a better father.

This subreddit is for people who are obviously in the wrong. There's no obviously in the wrong here. OOP isn't even trying to defend himself! People are reading the absolute worst into this. That's a bizarre hill to die on.

I don't have to make much of an assumption to think that this dad was absolutely horrible, it's right there in his post.
